Default Change of plans: Moonkin + 4 Shammies

I am going to make my 5th DPS character to my 4 shaman team a Moonkin rather than another shaman. I think a bunch of others were saying something similar as well.

The moonkin playstyle is so similar, he won't always take the same gear my shamans need, he's not that squishy, he gives a nature dmg buff and a crit aura, he can heal, etc. Can anyone think of a disadvantage to a moonkin over another shaman come WOTLK? It should be so easy to keybind him to do something similar to what the shaman are doing.

Honestly that is what I am planning on doing with my Main (Druid) once my shammy team gets to 70. The Moonkin buff, Earth and Moon debuff and Haste buff are pretty sweet. Don't forget about the +hit debuff that Improved Fearie Fire gives as well.

I think that a Moonnkin in place of a shaman would work fine. With all the talk about Totem of Wrath possibly not being stackable come the Xpac a Moonkin in the mix makes even more sense.

That's what I've been running all along, and it only looks better with WotLK! The only real differences are that my moonkin does sub-par damage compared to my shaman, and he has better mana efficiency, both of which are highly subject to change in the expansion. But with the new talents, I can only see the synergy of this make up improving.

The WOTLK talents look so good, it's almost hard to decide what talents to pick for the most damage between the balance and resto tree. Luckily I only need to get my druid to 15 (16 to be safe) before I have enough gift levels left to make it 60. :-)

Well, if you've never seen it, here's a great guide to moonkin tanking. It actually started out as a joke, but has since been refined into a viable playstyle.

And you can always google search moonkin tank for some good videos.

Yeah, and a 5 man DPS team that's well geared doesn't need an amazing tank to take down 5 mans most of the time, so a moonkin as a possible tank is going to be find outside a real raid I'm sure if I need to do that in the future.

In light of the ToW changes (not stacking), I could see the advantages even more than before of bringing a Space Owl to a 4 shaman group. Personally my Moonkin is waiting at 70 for my Shaman alts to reach 70 at which time she will be joining them.

I have done some Moonkin offtanking and it is fun. If you really want to do so be sure you avoid threat reduction talents....

Honestly Moonkins have good Synergy along with Shaman.
