    Just adding my 2c.

I have started dumping all of my mats, ensuring that I have 375 skill in everything on every character and then selling everything else. I have so much 'stuff' left over than is just not needed. Think of it like moving, be ruthless.

About a month before expected release I'll study the wotlk forums and see what people have fallen in love with. Then I'll stock up on those items. As posted already, herbs and ores look like the current winners.

But remember to plan ahead - YOU are going to want to level professions as well. So make sure you have yourself covered. Levelling guides are always posted before release, so keep looking for them and know what to expect.

I got into beta around a month ago and you do not use any of the old enchanting materials for anything (worthwhile anyway) past 375. Right off the bat you start getting "Infinite Dust" and "Cosmic essences" from green drops up in Northrend.

I started dumping all the things I've saved up in my bank two days ago and I've made about 2100g so far. My advice is to sell *before* Blizzard sets a release date. I don't know about other servers but back when BC was approaching, as soon as a date was set the whole market on my original realm went belly up. I ended up having to just flat out vendor or delete things.

**Edit: I might add, I leveled enchanting on my main Druid from 0-375 in NO time at all just from arcane dust and planars, and a few herbs here and there for oils. Anyone who actually weights the material cost on skillups will not buy voids or LPS's to get to 375, so sell what you've got IMO!

Imo this is a less profitable approach. I'll be POSTING half my mats at this stage. The recipies in beta will be mature, 1-450 skill up lists will be available, many people will already have made their new profession decisions, prices will already be up. I've been tracking herb prices on my servers and they are already up 20% in the last 2 months. You may still make some profits, but you are in danger of buying from an already inflated market. This is the exact reason I've already done my investments and I'm only buying herbs/ore that are 60% below market value now.

    For the enchanting mats:

Wotlk replaces most TBC epics, so there will be a load of voids/LPS's from the dissenchanted gear aswell.

I'm taking a break before wrath comes out, I dont' expect to play my 70s (beyond dailies) before then. I'm thinning out most of my stockpile of mats before my accounts go dark, chanting mats in particular. Come wrath we'll get all-new disenchant results, and levelling skill 375-425 or so should be very easy.

Same goes for primals, gems and metals, I doubt the same ones will matter for levelling skills come wrath.

Herbs are the exception, keep some stacks around for alchy and inscription. BC saw quite a lot of overlap with old-world mats for alchy.

    Very sweet thread.

I just started new characters on a new server, and have been leveling up. In my rush to 70, I've yet to actually take up any professions, but have considered engineering and mining.. but with reading this thread, might go mining/herbing, and just go nuts collecting.

For someone that doesn't have any professions chosen at this time, is there any suggestions on what to start now? Enchanting, for DEing seems like a logical choice. Now, while chain running heroics for badges/gear to DE the blues, and in expansion to do the same for the new enchanting materials.

Beyond that, I'm not sure. Although I'm excited to learn that enchanting mats could be way down on my server giving me the chance to level enchanting cheaply.
