Thread: Brand NEW!

    Default Brand NEW!

    Aiight guys, i know that i used to make a few posts a while back but im looking at starting off really simple.

    I just paid for one license of Key Clone.

    I was going to start of just dual boxing. And although i do have the two separate computers i was thinking i might just do it on the one.

    Now what i need to think about is the combination. I was thinking double mages, or warlocks.

    Now, i know there are macro guides and all that on the site for setting up the main characters wow bindings and the alternative characters bindings but I'm really bad with doing something from reading it unless its really descriptive and informing.

    I'd appreciate it if someone could run me through setting up the common macros and spreading out functionalities as well as general combat simulation over the two clients.

    Thanks a bunch.

    If you can't be bothered to read the guides and HUGE amounts of information already available on this site, then I doubt anyone is going to hold your hand through it.

    If you can't understand the guides, which make things as simple as it gets for you, I don't understand what you expect us to do, we'll all just tell you the same thing as the guides say, Make X Macro, Bind it to Y Key, etc.

    Work out what classes you'll be using, Work out what spells they use, work out which spells it'd be useful to use at the same times, and which ones it'd be best to use seperately and go from there. It takes people ages to setup Macros, you're not the only one who's finding it difficult. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask here or on IRC.

    ok, so if i was going to do two mages...

    on both the characters action bars i'd put fireballs frost bolts and fire blasts all in the exact same spots on both characters. and for the alt one i'd put somewhere on there a follow macro? and thats pretty much it?

    come on guys... be nice to folks looking for some help... it'll keep the forums a welcoming area. (don't get me wrong..there is quite a bit here for those looking to start out...)

    for your first try at multi-boxing, the easiest route is using all the same class. casters for sure.

    after that... put their spells in all the same action bar slots... and leave 2 open on your main. on your clones, you put the follow and assist macro in there.

    this should get you to 10 or 20 no problem. basically drive up,using the right+left click-n-hold mouse action to move instead of the keys, stop.. target... hit assist... and fire. turn to face the target if required. hit follow... mouse-click-n-hold to drive to the body.. loot.. repeat.

    as you progress with multi-boxing, you will make modifications to your key layouts and how you want them routed around. as you learn more, you'll find yourself starting to play with mouse-mapping, round-robin, white/black lists,and maybe even keymaps.

    then there comes the hardware upgrade... start saving now

    You'll tend to want to have a /follow command on your alt.

    For my setup, I am doing it all in hardware but in WoW its fundamentally the same. I have frost shock on my main and all my clones I have a macro, with the same icon as frost shock, which does:

    /cast [target=focustarget] Frost Shock;

    This way the clones check their focus target and cast on it. I would not reccomend using this for heals though as its laggy. IE you'll mash your heal key and they will all heal themselves the first time (didn't get the target fast enough before the second command which was cast) and then they'll have aquired a target and the healls will work properly after that.

    In that case I would do something like:

    /target bob
    /cast Lesser Healing Wave;

    Another thing you can experiment with is party1 as that is always the party leader.

    You might have to goto WoWWIKI and do some reading about the WoW API and Macros, I know its helped me automate alot of things.

    Like I have a single key which I push and it:

    Accepts Goup
    Rez
    Release Body (after accept rez )
    Summon
    Quest
    Trade

    etc
