i like to run around and clean up after people (mining/skinning) theres plenty of people that dont have either, and plenty that think mining an elemental or revenant is a waste of time. but the 20 stack of grey crap you mine from that revenent sells for 4.5g. really easy money.
("\(O.o)/") rawr!!
What I did was to have my main with skinning/herb
My first ALD (big on second screen) have minig and enchanting.
I takes a bit getting used to have to look at 2 minimaps but its works out good enough for now, except I hate leveling mining, it takes forever!

This is 100% accurate UNLESS RAF is in the picture. If RAF is in the picture, all bets are off.Originally Posted by 'Fursphere',index.php?page=Thread&postID=106794#po st106794
Herbing - Right now you already missed a big opportunity with lowbie herbs, they were selling for absurd amounts at lich kings launch, still pretty valuable as people are skilling up inscription though.
Skinning - This is a very valuable skill as you can easily keep it maintained and is easily macroable to an alt who's not the leader. (/cast [target=focustarget]Skinning)
Mining - Again a valuable skill, easy to maintain once you get it caught up.
Enchanting - This used to be a moneymaker, however in my opinion now the money you'll lose skilling it up isn't worth the money you'll earn selling the few components you aren't using to skill it up. Enchanting is now a skill I level when I hit cap and can fund it from slaughtering lowbie instances instead of the other way around.
Inscription - This could be amazingly profitable if you can level it up some and get lucky on researching, it will eat into your herbing profits, however the minor glyphs are absurdly profitable due to the way they are discovered.

I have to state strongly that this is totally the opposite of my experience, I am still playing AHs on three servers and 5 AHs (3 Ally, 2 Horde). I make anything ranging from 500-2000g per day per AH purely from disenchanting. This is dependent on competition, and the disenchanting skill of my guys on the server, but there is always money to be made from enchanting, even more so in Wrath now. The number of people who are dumping blue prof levelling items on the AH at dirt cheap prices makes this even more the case atm..... I dabble in crafting and ofc have gathering skills on my some of my chars, but without DE I'd be a much poorer man.Originally Posted by 'zanthor',index.php?page=Thread&postID=154112#post 154112
Besides, with 375 ench you can disenchant any item currently in the game, so you dont need to level all the way to 450 to make a profit from it, and getting to 375 is probably cheaper now than it ever was. Hell, one of my guys makes about 500g a day at only L20 with 225 enchanting skill.
In terms of selling enchants themselves? I rarely bother, can't be bothered dealing with the tards and hagglers, although I sometimes put scrolls on the AH. As for levelling it? I dont rush it, and just level when I have excess stocks of the mats I need at that time.

I just want to second this. My characters feel rich when they have 50 gold each and thats only after I have gone 10+ levels without buying spells or talents. Thats the biggest challenge.Originally Posted by 'algol',index.php?page=Thread&postID=152649#post15 2649

Man, this is an old thread. But I'll actually throw in a real suggestion other than going to china to farm gold.
I am currently 80 on my shamans and sitting on about 120k gold. How? Easy. Tradeskills.
All my shamans are tailored to make gold.
shaman tradeskills as follows
mining alchemy
skinning alchemy
herbing alchemy
enchanting alchemy
and a 5th still sitting at 70 with jewelcrafting alchemy.
But crayon. why so many alchemists? isnt that really redundant? Why thank you for asking. Yes. yes it is redundant. But so is everything in WoW.
If you arent level 80 yet and sitting on a nice amount of capital already, 4x or 5x alchemy is going to cost a bit too much for the average person to do right off the bat, but if you can get started on 1 or 2, itll help a ton. If you cant afford it, fear not. Simply having all the gathering skills will net you far more gold than you can imagine, especially early in the expansion.
Mining. Ore goes for stupid amounts right now. doesnt matter what server your on. blacksmiths, jewelcrafters and engineers go through bars like crazy. with the added benefit of having a titan steel bar cooldown once a day going for about 25-50g on my server, youll make some easy money simply by doing this once a day.
Cobalt is up to something stupid like 45-50 on my server and from the few other servers that i play on, theyre hovering around the same price range.
Saronite is far more common than dirt and sells stupidly for around the same if not slightly lower than cobalt. Still, its a ton of money.
Titanium. You get crystalized fire water air and earth from these babies and you can find em every 10 steps in wintergrasp... assuming the army of level 70 rogues arent already there farming all your shit.
Skinning. Borean leather goes for about 20 to 25 gold a stack. pretty cheap right? take into account the sheer amount of leather you can skin from simply flying around doing "graveyard" duty in sholazr baisen... yea youll end up with endless stacks of this stuff. and if you find artic fur while youre at it, thats another 25-35g per.
Herbing. Alchemists galour and scribes going through an endless amount of herbs with northrend research of alchemy recipies and glyph research, major and minor 1 a day.... they are all going to always need more herbs.
Need a resource? DO NOT BUY. EVER. Go farm it yourself. ALWAYS. As a multiboxer we never have to worry too much about gankers and any mob is easy cake for us. ( I did every single quest in outland without the help of anyone with the except of the ring wars questline in icecrown ). Need ore? Titanium and saronite are in ABUNDANCE in wintergrasp. Need eternals of some sort? Wait for wintergrasp to be on your side's control and go farm the revenants in wintergrasp. They are 100% chance to drop 1-3 crystalized whatever youre killing of. They have about 25k health but with shamans...pfft~ 1-2 shot them.
Need herbs? Depending on which kind you need they are all over the place. If you need it for inscription, go to scholezar baisen and grab the adders tongue. its everywhere and it mashes into the same ink that any other northrend herb would mash into.
enchanting is a given because enchanting mats will ALWAYS cost a lot. and simply because always having an enchanter when doing instances is a neccessity.
Alchemy. So why 5x alchemists? Simple. Transmutes. Some people may dissagree with me witht he amount of sheer income simple transmutes will generate, but I find that it unrivals everything else in terms of ( effort x income ). Simply transmute eternal mights over and over and sell them. If youre lucky enough for a proc, then you get free money, other wise youre still generating a massive amount of profit. if you dont have the eternals for the might transmute, simply transmute something else into another eternal. chance for proc and still making profit by turning a common eternal like earth into something rare like air or fire.
also please make sure to take up transmute mastery if you go alchemists. elixir and potion isnt worth it. And never hand in 4 primal mights for the transmute mastery quest. Simply go pick up the potion mastery quest and pay the 120g to change to transmute mastery. it takes less time than rounding up 16 primal mights and costs less.
If youre a tailor then go with constantly keeping your cloth transmutes on cooldown. I went with 6 primal mooncloth transmuters in BC and made a ton of money constantly pumping out primal mooncloth and working in sync with my alchemists doing primal earth to water and earth to life when they werent doing primal mights.
engineer... dont bother. no profit to be had here. or at least very little.
jewelcrafting is a very good one to have but I dont see the point of sticking it on a main character because all the jewelcrafting recipes are bought doing dailys. just make sure to do them everyday and mine alot of ore for prospecting.
blacksmithing leatherworking, I dont see these two tradeskills bringing anythign to the table in terms of profitability for multiboxers who play shamans. people who like to min max their characters and not worry about profit would find these two tradeskills rather appealing, but other than that, there just isnt many items you could pump out with these two tradeskilsl that arent mostly for self improvement.
gonna stop before i get carpel tunnel. and TLDR version. Go farm. it helps. and use the auctionhouse. but i wont even get started on auction housing. im sure there are more than enough guides on that.
edit: almost forogt. DONT LEVELING BANDAGING
save the cloth and gouge those pour caster sods leveling tailoring. theyre buying up cloth at 30-40g a stack. Rule number 1 of profiteering. GOUGE THEM TILL THEY BLEED!
