Default BRD or ST for levelling 45+

Tried stratholme boosting with my 70 hunter - I suck at it. The xp per hour I was netting was pitiful.

I'm ruling out scholomance as I dont have the key to the entrance. I'm also guessing it may be a bit nasty like stratholme. So I've set my sights lower for now.

My choice is between ST and BRD. I know there is a difference in level between the two, but wondered which people would recommend for boosting in.

I remember suggestions that you should only pull a couple of rooms then run out and reset for decent XP, but couldn't find the post no matter what search string I tried. (if someone finds the post please link it )

Does anyone have a feel for which would net the better XP for a 70 hunter, 3 shaman group?

I found it faster to do quests from 45 to 53 (did the kill quests only in tanaris and feralas) then to searing gorge and ran thru those.. then ran brd 2 times and voila i was 58 (the quest turn in from searing gorge were 22 to 28k ea turn in.... brd quests 33k to 45k per turn in...) Im actually leaning towards questing after getting out of sm than boosting. The tripled quest turn xp seems to be faster .. especially when you just toss a 70 dpser in the grp and mow thru the quests. Working on my 3rd raf grp atm (3 grps of 4) and the sm to 42ish and quest method seems the fastest to 60 to me (course Im old and senile too)

--- I run brd 2 times due to some of the quests needing 2 runs.... just a for instance.. atm my newest grp of shammies is sitting at 56 with 1 brd run completed... next brd run will take em to 58 and bc lands

I may follow your lead and try and quest level them.

I'm in tanaris currently and got the wastewanders quest at the moment (which isn't too bad - one of the guys has completed it, with the other two having partial). I had to log off as weird lag issues resulted in a wipe.

I'm in two minds whether to just quest them straight - or whether to follow them out of group on my hunter and let my pet help kill.

I'll definitley skip the gathering quests (the southshore pirate hats springs to mind).

At 45 I took my guys into Scholo and pulled the first room of casters over and over with my lock. My paladin was unable to kill them in this century but the lock seems to do ok. I was getting about 10% of level each run. It pretty boring but easy.

At about 48 I went and knocked out feralas, hinterlands, and searing gorge quests. That got me to about 51ish. Dont pass on hinterlands and searing gorge. They have lot of kill quests and I could do all of them in each zone in about 2 hrs.

Right now I am trying to grab another couple levels in there because the availible quests are collection, red, or Im not high enough to grab them. On the upside, only 6 more levels till I can bail out for Outlands and get some real xp.

i think that scholo is much easier then strat. I usually cleared the first room in less then 15 minutes with my rogue and reset, i got about 2 bars each time. I did the dead side of strat, like the frist 3 pulls (went there to get my pally mount), and almost died in all three of those pulls.

If you don't have a key a rogue can pick the lock or a lock can kill himself next to the door (life tap till you cannot anymore then use hellfire, make sure you take off your gear so you don't have to repair it) and rez on the other side.

Scholomance key is trivial to get as a 70, just a little running around after collecting the initial skeletal fragments (which drop well). Take 2 thorium bars and 15g with you to Tanaris/Un'goro when you hit that step.

    Here's the quest start:

Scholomance was easier for me on my 70 affliction lock than Strat UD. Haven't been to live side yet, someone let me into the undead side while I had my pally in tow for his holy water (pally 60 mount quest).

I'm lucky - I have a 70 lock (currently specced demonology) that I could bring to open the door.

(he's on my veteran account so I can't bring him to the party as one of my shaman would miss out).

I've improved my little shaman's setup now so I should be able to provide a bit of extra dps to help the hunter take down any mobs - so may give this a try over the weekend for comparison.

Thanks for the quest start - I'll look it up when I can get access.

Yup there is a lever inside after you pass the door. When you get in there just park the lock there to continue to open the door.

Np, yeah totally have your shaman focus fire the target of your hunter. In between questing I would boost 3 or 4 of my shammies through ZF in their 40's (sometimes taking a family member as the 5th spot as looter) and I was happy how much faster I could kill the groups with seeding 3 instead of 4 and forcing a detonation with a 3 or 4 lightning bolts instead of drain life and just nuke any low-life runners with the shaman since their LB was shorter casting time than my SB.

I just finished up this boosting using a warrior.

    SM 20-41
    ZF 41-48
    LBRS 48-55

SM is huge pulls. Cathedral is 4 pulls.
ZF is pulls of 2-3 groups at a time typically
LBRS is single group pulls. They come bunched in nice groups of 4-5, perfect for a warrior.

I think starting with LBRS at 45, you could get by the same way as my warrior, send in a pet and burn down each mob in turn. You would want to watch out for runners though, so hold an instant shot in reserve for when each of the casters tries to run.

At 55 I'm rotating one guy out, grabbing a healer and doing ramparts to 60...maybe even 62, so I can skip more collection quests.
