    Default WotLK Talents: Made to Counter Multiboxers??

    I have been talking to the only other boxer I know on my server and he is seriously considering retiring his 5-box team when WotLK hits. He is very concerned that Blizzard has listened to all the QQ on the WoW General Forums and decided to give many classes talents and upgrades that are made to counter multi-boxing and more specifically the 5-shaman team.

    Some examples he gave:

    Priest fears changed to horror effects (Tremor Totem will no longer provide immunity).

    Death Knight talent to grab a toon and pull them close from a long distance.

    Living Bomb for Mages to throw everyone into the air.

    Shaman talent that does the same thing.



    Anyway, does anyone else have an opinion on this? What would be effective counters to defeat these talents that seemed focused on breaking up and scattering a group?? Is anyone else retiring because of these changes?

    Would like to hear some more perspectives/ideas. thanks.

    At this point, I wouldn't be too worried, wait until it goes live - everything usually changes beforehand.

    It gives some classes a counter to burst focus-fire in pvp. Since multiboxing pvp relies on this strategy, yes it hurts us. It also hurts all the other non-multiboxing burst dps teams. I don't believe they're doing it to counter multiboxers, I just think they're doing it to add a little more survivability/strategy in pvp.

    I personally dislike PvP, so any extra abilities to survive in PvE make me happy .

    Bear in mind that any new effects a class gets, we get too. Many of those abilities are even worse when used in a group, which is where we shine.

    I would'nt get too paranoid that they're targeting MBers - I doubt we get thought of much, at all. They would'nt gimp us like that, if we were enough of a problem that they felt forced to design talents to counter us, then they'd just ban the practice.

    I don't think as they are now, they will utterly destroy multiboxers. But it does seem like they are putting in some counters to boxing to give people tools to better take down boxers. Most people don't use them.

    Do you really think they are making significant changes to the game just because of multiboxers? Also, any changes they make are likely to affect solo players as well, even in unintended ways.

    Like anything else, our little world seems so much bigger because we're in the middle of it, but let's face it, 99.999% are not multiboxing, so I would be very surprised if Blizzard is taking into consideration any changes to game mechanics just because of us.

    Alright I'll break down the issues stated above and how I would deal with them.

    Priest fears changed to horror effects (Tremor Totem will no longer provide immunity).

    Death Knight talent to grab a toon and pull them close from a long distance.

    Living Bomb for Mages to throw everyone into the air.

    Shaman talent that does the same thing.
    Priest fear will require you to wear a PvP trinket on all characters and exclusively use it for these types of scenario, if a priest has this ability they will also be Shadow meaning they will die very fast.

    The Death Grip is 20 yards iirc, and grounding totem works against it. As well if your a Shaman he Death Grips and you Thunder him, so it cancels.

    Living Bomb, utilize your spread out macro, the damage on this ability is also pretty low and groundings can work too. Additionaly this is a 51 point Fire Talent which I guarentee you will see less than 1% of WotLK mages as. Frost is way too insane to pass up so don't worry about this one.

    Thunder, them blowing up apart is a free spread out macro we don't have to do, it's actually a bonus for multiboxers

    from what I can tell the damage at the start is.. but then the final boom affects only one target.. not sure what the mechanic on that is tho, could be a singletarget spell in which case grounding will eat it up, otherwise.. who knows
