    Default Ideas to get around deadzone

    This is aimed at hunters in wow but might be useful elsewhere. I haven't tested these, they are just ideas. Mostly pve, but might help a bit in pvp.

    0)Have a pet tank.

    1)Have the hunter follow someone who is following your main. Only useful if your main keeps aggro, or if a pet does this might give some more leeway. In pvp you'll only be able to shoot if they go for your main, which they probably will if its a healer.

    2)Have the hunter as your main, pull the mobs back to your alts on follow, stop their follow and run the hunter forward(away from alts) before turning around. In pvp if you have hunter+cloth, your hunter can shoot if they go for the cloth.

    3)Have the hunter pull the mob, run back past your alts while you stop their follow, then have your alts pull the mob off the hunter as he/she is getting out of deadzone range to the alts. I guess this is good for laying a trap on your alts in pvp.

    I still don't see hunters being a good choice for boxers, but hopefully these ideas will help make the garbage not smell so bad.

    I love my hunter, just about to ding 70 for the very fist time (about 600k to go) I'm seriously considering running a pair, now I know the game so that fast levelling should be good. One would spec BM and go with fast shots, mainly auto shot. One will go MM and go with a high damage pet. If it goes pear shaped both will be able to FD. As long as the pets are the same level to you they have no issues at all tanking anything up to an even level elite. Bosses are too hard, with the extra abilities, especially immunity to stun.

    But to have two gorilla's or a gorilla and an owl (thunder stomp and screech) you'd be able to mow down large mobs in record time. In fact as a lvl69 my only difficulty is more than four or five adds.

    To be really effective, adding a mage to the mix with an AoE immobilize...

    Sure three mages or a priest and two mages would be more effective in 90% of cases, would kill faster and work better overall... but thats the route most people go, having two hunters and a ???? would be different and interesting.

    ((IMO))

    If you have five hunters you won't need to reposition yourself. Just two is enough to not need pets out for, unless you're in pvp or doing elites.

    Default 5 Boxing Hunters

    I have been 5 Boxing my hunters for a while now. They realy rock and you can burn down mbs really fast. I'm specked BM but I think that a full MM build may be the way to go. I already wipe out most mobs at the same level with two shots from the 5 hunters. Most mobs never make it to the dead zone. Having said that I still like the security of my BM pets.

    The dead zone is however a problem in PVP. The solution I am trying is to get Engineering and equip your toons with the Gnomish Death Ray. One I get all my guys equipped it should spell instant death to the high levels I have problems with at the moment. I am keeping a blog on my progress so if your interested you can check it out at www.sabersquadron.info.

    We're planning to shrink the min range on ranged attacks to reduce or eliminate the "dead zone". The only point to the dead zone was to ensure the min range on ranged weapons was enough such that ranged weapon attacks wouldn't be used while also being melee'd (at least by mobs... players have a bit of slush built in).

    OK.

    I am currently doing this. I have a level 70 hunter whom I use to for elite quests for my alts as well as a partner for my level 60+ characters.

    First, the deadzone is going to seriously be reduced in 2.3... to the point of not being much of an issue.

    Second, I use the number pad to control the hunters shots and pet skills. Since the hunter is 70th she has lots of options
    Number Pad
    1=AutoShot/Attack
    2=Steady Shot
    3=Concussive Shot
    4=Arcane
    5=Aimed
    6=Hunters Mark - Send Pet
    7=RedKitty Mode
    8=Pet Stun mode
    9=Mend Pet
    -=Scorpid Sting
    +=Serpent Sting

    The arrow keys control both my characters. The WSAD control my main (my hunter is in a minimized or background window as I full screen my main)

    Since the CTRL keys are not used by any of my other classes other than my Druid it works out wonderful.

    I keep keys for assist party1 follow party1 around as well...

    normal combat is assist party1 (to give the hunter a target) then 6 (mark send pet). ... Then I also have my main's attack cause my hunter to do steady shot to have an efficient shot rotation.

    according to blue posts, this is soon to be a non-issue.

    Min range on missile is being reduced to the max range of melee.... so 3yds
