Prot pally questions

I'm using my freebie levels from my clones to level a prot pally. As of now it's level 39 and has only killed one mob and completed no quests

Anyway, when this guy hits 59 or so I'm going to spec him prot and actually try him out. My question is what's a good set of BOE tankadin gear I can buy off the AH? And what's an OK spec? I was going to ask this on the wow pally forums, but I didn't want to start a ZOMG NRUF RAF!!11!one!! flame war.

Of the Champion and of the Sorcerer gear with a good shield and a spike on it. Quiet easy stuff to get. Add in the striaght of Stamina gear if you need some extra life. Install tank points first to see what kind of effective life you have by hovering over them before you buy them.

Most of your threat will come from Holy Shield and SoR/JoR.

I think the magic number for tanking with a pally is 200 spell damage. I have a little over 200 and the mobs don't come off of me. I cast sal on my shams, pull with shield, con + shield once and i don't lose agro (then again i also have iron shield spike on and a shield that does poison damage to them so that helps too)... Tanking is so easy, when i look at my tank half the time she is not even swinging her mace... lol.

And that sword did not get replaced until I got faction from Keepers of Time.

OK, so if I'm understanding this right you wear warrior tanking plate and use a caster weapon? So the dps on it seems to be irrelevant, but does the speed matter?

ok, someone correct me if i get this wrong:
(I am not trying to be an ass here so don't get me wrong)

You got 3 tanks druid, warrior, and pally.
- Druid creates threat by dpsing the mobs. There bear form has abilities that generate high damage which keeps the mobs on the druid.
- Warrior creates threat by being in "tank" mod. Using skill that generate threat.
- Pally create threat by standing there (well sort of true), they generate threat by blocking hits.

So druid is damage, warrior is skills, and pally is being hit. I think that the way they are making DK is also by damage.

edit:
To increase threat for a pally is to increase there spell+. You don't want to go crazy on this and have 1k spell+, 200 seems to be a good number (i think i got this from Fur). Cause every time the pally blocks the mobs take holly damage.
