Just as an update to this... I got home from work today and tested.

I had a lvl 20 priest on my main account and 4 slaves with a combined 32 levels to hand out as well as a lvl 28 priest on another account to hand out levels with.

I gifted 8 levels to the 20 priest to bring him up to 28 and then gifted 32 levels to him and he is now 60.

So... you can gift levels from a lvl 60 character, and you can gift more than 29 to a specific toon.

I'm confused as to what you're saying here.

    1) You can gift more than 29 levels *check*
    2) You can gift from a lowbie who is lower level than the recipient? (all of your lowbies listed are <60, but you gifted levels to level the recipient to 60?)

Do you mind clarifying for me?

Sure, sorry if it didn't make sense heh.

I have 5 accounts total.. 4 linked to my main account. I had a MB team at level 44 that I transferred over to the 4 linked accounts and then levelled them (insanely fast) to 60. Since I didnt start from level 1, they only had 8 levels to gift each (16 divided by 2) for a total of 32.

On the main account I had a lvl 20 priest alt that was sitting around idling. I wanted to get that to 60. On one of the linked accounts, I had a priest that I started from level 1 and was at 28 (so he had 13 levels to gift, but could only gift 8 since my priest was already level 20).

So I gifted 8 levels from the priest on the linked account to the priest on my main account. I then switched over to the other 4 characters (who are 60) and topped off the other 32 levels on the priest, bringing him to 60.

I hope that made more sense :P

I'm not exactly sure on this. But if you level your new character that you are gonna grant levels to up to about ~99% level done or there abouts. Then grant him levels to 60 wouldn't this make 60-61 like only 5% of the bar if you leveled it to 95% of a level before?

This is kind of along the lines of what i was wondering.

If you are 50% through level 30 and get gifted a level do you go to just level 31 or 50% through level 31

I've only gifted low levels so far but my observation has been it carries over the raw xp number, not percentage. so at 59 you may be 99% into 60 and have 160k xp. If you get gifted up to 60 you will have 160xp, which is only 30% or so into 61 -- remember, the XP from from 60 to 61 is huge compared to previous levels.

Here's what I can confirm... (just did it)

    Referred account - level 60; level 31
    Veteran account - level 27

Leve 31 gifted level 27 FOUR levels to level 31.

Veteran account gifted level 31 (formerly level 27) TWENTY-NINE levels to level 60.

Fact: You can gift more than 29 levels to a single character
Fact: You can gift levels from more than one character on the "referred" account
Fact: You can gift levels even if the gift giver is over level 59
Fact: The "ding" animation happens as you gift. Very fun to do in the middle of Stormwind. Make sure to announce "ding!" every time it happens.

    Hope that clears things up.

Also a confirmation, your percent of experience stays the same. So if you are 50% through a level and grant one, you will be 50% through the next one as well.

    Just wanted to say thanks.

This thread has cleared up a number of things.

No surprise that Vyndree is responsible for a lot of it - thanks Girl!

And thanks to Xyl41, that helped with another thing I was wondering.

Basically, thanks all around, very helpful!

Can I save the "level-ups" I'm granted and use them at higher levels?
Yes. However, you will lose any unclaimed level-ups when you hit level 60, so don't save them for too long.

Basically, if you level to 60 you -cannot- grant levels. Meaning you only actually have from 0-59 (and thus have 1 less level to grant) I noticed this luckily when I was 57 on 2 raf characters.
    This is false.

I think you misunderstand the faq, but I have tested it, You ABSOLUTELY Can Gift levels once you are 60 & dont lose anything. What they are saying is you can't GIVE the levels to get someone past 60.

    What I did:
    Acct A, B C D E where A= Original Vet account & B-E = New RAF Accounts, each linked to the other.

    Level all to 58 (& 90% to 59)
Level E to 60 Manually solo
Gift Level account D from E, From 58 to 60 on the spot.
    Gift Level C from D,,, & SO-On...

IT works, & I had levels left over to give, & Leveled a Warlock & Druid alt I had 30ish to 60.
Not only do I now have a bunch of 60's, with some levels left over to give,, they are 80%ish to 61 because they maintain whatever exp they had into the level they were gifted from.
