Default RAF: Gifting Levels

Hey - I posted this over on the customer service forums, but figured I'd post here as well to see if anyone had any knowledge on this.

I realize there are a ton of RAF threads out there already but I have been searching and cannot find an answer to a couple questions.

All of these question will assume the following 5 account setup:

Account A - Veteran
Accounts B-E - Linked to A

1. Is there a maximum amount of levels that can be granted to a single character?

Say I create 5 new toons on the accounts and level them together up to 60. I now have 29x4 levels to grant to the veteran account.

Let's say I roll a level 1 character on the veteran account. Can I gift him levels all the way up to 60 or can he only receive 29 levels?

2. Is there a maximum amount of levels you can gift from a single linked account?

Let's just say I get motivated and level _another_ team to 60 on top of the ones I discussed in the previous scenario. So now I have 2 60's on each of the linked accounts. Can I now grant 58 levels? Or is there a cap of 29 per account?

I would assume that the gifted levels are determined as it reads in the FAQ (every 2 levels = giftable level, no mention of a cap), but I just wanted to confirm.

Any insight on these questions would be most appreciated! Thanks!

I have mine configured in the same way 1 account refered the other 4, as opposed to the round robin style as done by almost everyone here. This gives me the ability to 'obtain' multiple 'leaders' for no extra effort.

Anyway, I have no actual evidence for the following answers however I base them on the wording of the refer-a-friend documentation.

1. You can gift all the way upto 60, the only caveat being that the 'gifter' must be a lower level than the recipient. ie: you level 4 chars to 30, you cannot then gift 4x15 levels to one character on your refering account.

2. I believe the answer to this is, no. It clearly states 1 level for every 2 levels. I'm also let to believe that transfered characters also gain the level gifting ability. ie: you roll 5 new accounts and transfer a 70 from your old account, you automatically have 35 levels to gift.

The destination char must be LOWER in LEVEL then the source. No Leveling a toon from 1-8 in some minutes an spend then 4 Level

From this rule in the back the rest from your questions is clear. About 4 chars spending i am not sure becouse i have not linked all on 0ne account

Old-new1-new2-new3-new4-new5-new6 voila 5 horses new6 will not be paid past the 2 month (used gamcards for all new5)

IF i whant and have the time i can use new6 acc to make on new5 a gifted char ... but tiiiime ...

I do not know anything about a cap.. 90 days and the lower level char rule are cap enough i think

For myself we started 2 days ago a new group on lothar eu (bought 5 new acc over Bring a friend) ..standard questing 5 chars (no boosting etc)

and level 17 after /played 1 hour 20 min

not bad for me (Mr. afking a lot)

hope it helps you

I have the same question and i'm working on the answer. Is there a cap to the number of Giftable levels??

My set up is my Main account and 2 new slave accounts that i used the RAF to set up. I have multiboxed 3 mages up to currrently Lvl 24 and have been gifting levels to a shaman on the main account. The shaman is up to 23. ( at 25 i will be able to gift to levels and all the toons will be = again ) If you are doing 3 toons like I am you get what equals out to 1 to 1 on the gifted levels. if you were doing 5 you could be gifting levels to 2 toons. You can not gift levels from all 4 slaves to one toon on the main because the toon recieving the leves needs to be lower to recieve any.

There is no cap - in your case, for each team of 5 you lvl to 60, you will have 4*29 lvls you can gift to a lowerlvl char on your main account. The lowerlvl is related to the char that gives the levels, so as long as they are lvl 60+, you will have no problems. The only cap you should be aware of, is that you cannot gift past lvl 60.

Oh, and in regards to mitoshi's reply: "I'm also let to believe that transfered characters also gain the level gifting ability. ie: you roll 5 new accounts and transfer a 70 from your old account, you automatically have 35 levels to gift." - this is wrong, you only gain giftlvls to give, by lvling on a referred account.

Hey, just read this and thought I would add an important note from the FAQ that most people seem to miss, dunno if it has been noted elsewhere, but better safe than sorry.

Can I save the "level-ups" I'm granted and use them at higher levels?
Yes. However, you will lose any unclaimed level-ups when you hit level 60, so don't save them for too long.
Basically, if you level to 60 you -cannot- grant levels. Meaning you only actually have from 0-59 (and thus have 1 less level to grant) I noticed this luckily when I was 57 on 2 raf characters.

How does the "grant a level" UI look like? Is it strictly 1 levelup or do you choose what level to you want set or just max level?
Currently not boxing, info below is not really relevant.

ProtPala+Elemental+Holy+Moonkin+Shadow
Currently: Level 80+75*4
Griznia, Leonina, Grizniaah, Leoninja, Grizniiah

You right click on the person you want to level (in your group) and select Grant a Level. So if you have 20 levels to gift you have to do it 20 times.

It also causes a pop up on the recipients screen (so they can choose to accept or refuse your level up). So you have to accept each level too.

It doesn't give an indication of how many levels you have to gift (only an issue if you've granted a few levels to different characters). it becomes greyed out when you have no levels left to gift.

What?

Can anyone confirm this?

That doesn't seem like realistic behavior to me... Xfer two 60's to a RAF referred account, get a free 60 on your main account?

Doesn't seem realistic.

I answered my own question by going to the official RAF FAQ:

A: No, gifting levels are earned as you level on the RaF account. A character that leveled exclusively on the RaF account would be able to grant a total of 29 levels by the time it reached level 60. For example if you transferred a level 30 character to the RaF account for every 2 levels that character gains on the RaF account you would receive 1 level that you could gift to the veteran account until level 60 giving you a total of 15 levels.

Q: So if I invite my friend, and they level to 60, does that mean I have a free 30 levels to gain? Or do these charges not stack? For example you gain 1 level to give, and only have 1 to give until I use it.

A: For every 2 levels a character on the trial account receives, one level may be gifted to a character on the veteran account. So, if a trial character, after he or she upgrades to the full client, levels to 60, a character on the veteran account may receive full 29 levels. The first giftable level is gained at level 3.

Q: I have a level 29 character. If my friend levels to 60 does that mean I can use the gifted levels all the way to 58?

A: Yes! Remember though the character cannot grant a level to a character equal to or higher than their own level and may not grant levels past 60.

A: No, you can gift them to a character on the veteran account as you earn them or in one lump sum. You must use them before the 90 day RaF period is up though. Once that time expires the levels you had saved to be granted to the veteran account will disappear as well.
So yes, you only get 29 levels to gift. BUT -- you can level past 60 and still gift your levels later. The only "expiration date" is your 90 day RAF period. So level to 70, then gift away your levels, that's fine.

Can I ask for your source on this?

I've got a character at 60 that I want to gift levels to my "veteran" account. Would awfully suck if this were true.

I understand the mechanics of gifting the 29 levels from a 60, but what about if you have 2 60s? is that 2X29 I can give away? or 3x29? Can anyone confirm any experience with this??

ninja Edit:

this is a big deal because this will effect if I level my teams to 60 then leave them alone and level new teams so i have a ton of levels to give away.
