Default Are you leaving WoW for WAR?

    Hi all,

I cancelled all my accounts back when AoC went live, and then a month later reinstated them (for reasons obvious to AoC players ).

Now I'm doing the same again, but giving Warhammer: Age of Reckoning a shot! We shall see, although I'm positive I'll be back to WoW for WotLK.

Unfortunately, I just got billed for another month the day before I decided to cancel my WoW accounts! Damn Blizzard and them taking more of my money!! (I realize it is completely my fault). Oh well

I'm curious as to who else is going to try out WAR, in US and EU, and on what server you will be playing (in case anyone is interested in creating a WAR multiboxing server, also for single play if you are unable to box).

I realize that the server list isn't out yet, but this week the Collectors Edition Closed Beta will open, and we could pick one of the Beta servers to convene on. I had some server information typed out, so that the Multiboxing community could choose a common server, before I realized it would probably be against the NDA to list server names, etc.

As a workaround for the stupid NDA and the new beta testers not being allowed to use the Beta forums to discuss this sort of thing, I will choose the first server listed in your Mythic Beta Center Server Status screen. I'm hoping its the same for all of the CE Closed Beta Testers.

The only game that will ever be worth leaving wow is D3.

Absolutely not even going to consider it any time soon.

I dunno. I'll watch some videos of the game a few weeks before it comes out, read the forums and see what kind of things they promised that are not going live (lol AoC siege warfare failures), find out if the game is getting rushed to hell and as far as I hear it already is, and then decide. Some videos I've seen of the bright wizard about 6 months ago looked pretty cool, but I hear it's been all downhill since then. Why the hell do they rush these games out unfinished? WTF are they thinking?

Here's the video that I thought looked pretty cool.

Now seeing a few new one's, the game looks like crap. What a stinky egg this game looks like from this video.

I've been in the beta for six months, not gonna subscribe when it launches. Its a fine game, without the problems AoC had (I was same as you, cancelled a few months before AOC, got to level 50, lost interest, came back to WoW recently... I was in the AoC beta even). However, at endgame, it is a pure PVP game. I'm getting a bit too old to really care about whether I pwnz0rd another team, and I don't want to schedule my life around logging in certain times to participate in guild RVR/PVP. WAR isn't really that much fun if you play at random hours by yourself, whereas with WoW (and multiboxing) I still have fun logging in and doing random crap by myself.

I'm sure after a few months of WOTLK and I have 5 level 80 DKs and I have done all the heroics I can muster, I'll unsub from WoW for a while again, and maybe then I'll give WAR another shot. Maybe WAR will have a 3x xp bonus RAF by then

I have it on Preorder and going to give it a whirl like I do every MMO that comes out stateside. But like AOC I pretty much figure after the free month is up I will be going back to WoW. I do hope that WAR has decent MB abilities. Considering that DAoC had them I bet WAR will too.

I am planning on rolling me up a Witch Hunter and a Squig Hunter or Shaman. I really, really hope that the game is as good as I want it to be, but I have been let down way too much to let myself believe that it will be.

I think that Blizz timed the RAF thing perfect. My new characters under the RAF plan are going to be in Outlands and I don't know if I will be very interested in leaving WoW for another game. I don't have a clue how much money I have spent on WoW over the past few months between all the accounts I own and character transfers and renames. I kind of hate to lose all of that.

Most likely I will scale back down to three boxing for a bit and spend 50% of time in WoW and the other in WAR. But then again there are two other games coming out this fall that will get a lot of my attention, namely Fallout 3 and Spore. It's going to be a lot of hard choices this fall/winter on what game(s) get the majority of my game time.

You can't walk through enemies. You can walk through friendlies. At least that's what I hear.

ive got my two copies of War:CE to give it a try. whether i stick with it or not depends mostly on how well it copes iwth boxing. i havent even been able to find any definite info on whether or not /follow, /assist, etc, exist. open beta starts in a day or two and ill do some testing and post results here.

with regards to the wow vs war argument.. i play wow because its the best option in a poor mmo market. the pvp in wow is and always has been horrible. blizzards answer to 'meaningful' continues to be instancing, 'points' and throwing gear at people. pvp is not pve. epics/titles/carrots do not equal quality gameplay and meaningful combat. so, im hopeful that warhammer will be a home for a lot of pvpers looking for a compromise between the client quality and publishing support of wow and quality pvp from games like daoc, shadowbane, UO. funcom failed miserably.. but mythic has daoc behind it. daoc was a fantastic pvp game that, later, was only let down by its outdated client and some poor expansion decisions. if they can manage to improve on the daoc rvr system but with a superior wow-ish interface, im all in.
