Default Consolidating opinions on when to BG

I wanted to start up a thread to consolidate everyones' opinion on when you should take your 5-man into the BGs for most efficient results.

    Assumptions:

    1. You are 5-manning
    2. You want to buy full S2 gear
    3. You are not BGing for fun, just gear

Gloves: 10500 Honor, 20 AV Markers
Hood: 14500 Honor, 30 AV Markers
Pants: 14500 Honor, 30 WSG Markers
Shoulders: 11250 Honor, 20 AB Markers
Chest: 14500 Honor, 30 AB Markers
    shield: 15000 Honor, 20 EOTS
    weapon: 25200 Honor, 20 EOTS

For a grand total of: 105450 Honor, 50 AV, 30 WSG, 50 AB, 40 EOTS

Depends on the BG faction win/loss ratio.

If your faction wins eots/ab/wsg more than 50% of the time, do it all at 70.

If your faction is horrible at eots/ab/wsg, then collect marks at 69 and then do AV for honor at 70 or just stay 69 until completed.

If you don't spend much time playing and are going to be casual about it, just get to 70 asap and do your 10 arena a week while you grind out BG's and do heroics/dailies/crafting.

When I say casual, I mean if it will take you more than 2 weeks to complete your s2 sets.

Add Belt, Bracers, Neck and Rings to that.

Plus the fact that once you have them you will probably up your arena ranking to replace them all too. Chances are you will get 1575 in s2+blues so i wouldnt buy the vindi stuff, depends how arena goes for you.

With wotlk rapidly approaching, I don't see much point in gearing up 70s.

However, if you really want the gear now, this is what I suggest. Honor is easy to get. Badges are the hard part. At 69, you can easily win any wsg/eots/ab game. Get all the badges you will need while they come easy. The only down side is longer queue times. Trust me, waiting on the queue times is better than wasting time at 70, losing matches, and getting flamed for your bad gear. If you haven't leveled professions, then during these queues is the ideal time. Go level fishing, cooking, whatever. Just don't hit 70. Also, don't waste honor or badges on easily replaceable gear. After hitting 70, it won't take you long to be able to get S4 gloves/legs.

After you have your marks, hit 70, and farm AV for the rest of your honor. On Mag there are almost always premade AVs going, and this is by far the best honor/hour. Also, hire an epic healer to help you in arena. When I first started arena, I paid a full S3 priest 25g per win (drastically better than going 0-10 every week, trying by myself in bad gear). Also, once you get a bit of gear, do what heroics you can (start with slave pens and ramparts). You'll need the badges to buy your cloak and gems.

    Have fun

well... it will come in 3/4 months or so, but still, i dont see why we shouldn't wanna gear. Thats one of the reasons why we play, to gear up, even if ur going to trade a piece after 5 minutes in northrend.
I heard the same comment from a T6 guy, doing sunwell, and i kinda laughed. He said to a friend why was he gearing up the alt, with the WotlK so close, while he himself does 5 hours of raiding daily to...down boss's and get gear.

imo, theres not much to discuss regarding this...wanna do some av's while leveling? great. The rest is about farming, get to 70, do some arenas, etc...

I'm all about efficiency. I doubt any fresh 70s are going to have much sucess in arena. With that in mind, I think it is more productive to level new teams, rather than focus on just one. I understand most people still want gear, which is why all but one line of my post was devoted to describing what I think the best method is.

Havelcek, depending on what your goals are for the gear, you may want to contact guild Superiority Complex. They sell BT gear, and gold comes easy once you hit 70.

Expansion is still 3-4 months off, assuming no delays. You could be in full season 2 in like two weeks. If you enjoy it, go ahead and do it. I don't mind the grind to a point, especially because you can gear up all your characters at once. I find the AV grind mostly painless if you just put on a movie or listen to an audio book. All I do is stand at frostwolf and dot people.

I don't really understand the whole not doing anything that requires work until the expansion, as if the goal of the game is zero duplicated effort and not fun, but to each his own.

I think as long as you don't go nuts and kill yourself its worth doing still. For example, getting a full s2 over 2-3 weeks at 2-3 hours a day is easy and the gear will work well even as you level in wotlk. On the other hand, spending hundreds of hours farming for scryer/aldor rep is pretty pointless now. Doing the easy SSO dailies is worth it, there are tons of rewards at exalted and the dailies give a ton of gold, especially if you multibox. Even some of the Netherwing dailies can be worth it, although I'd skip any of the hard ones or the collection ones (takes maybe 2x longer to rep up, but so what).

On the other hand, killing yourself trying to do a ton of daily heroics to get badge gear probably not worth it, when my shamans hit 70 i'll do a heroic a day and get a few items, not gonna try to get every single thing I can.

having pvp gear atleast for me who is stationed at a pvp server WILL be a must when WOTLK launches. If you have green/blues the gank train will run you over all day long.
