Little bit simpler ( and if you dont mind clicking on your alts screens) is to just turn on 'click to move' option - through the interface-->mouse options.

You right click on corpse/herb/quest item and your alt will run to the item in question and loot the corpse, or pick the flower, or open a quest doodad
Then you just press your follow button (if they're not too far away) to bring them back to you.
