I'm not too familiar with using ASRock motherboards - it's tough to get me to stray from solid manufacturers like DFI, Asus, and Gigabyte. Due to the smackdown in performance Intel has laid on AMD since Core2's release, I tend to avoid AMD until I've read enough reviews to make me comfortable again. (I LOVED my Operton 144, but AMD just hasn't put up comparable numbers since..)

I'm sure the Phenoms can handle 2-3 instances of WoW without trouble, but I'm hesitant to give advice on 4-5 boxing on a CPU I haven't tested. The RAM and videocard are fine, but expect a performance hit from the videocard if you use dual-view to multiple monitors.

Is there a reason you aren't considering the Q6600? It's around $190-$199 right now and so many of us are 5-boxing with it.
    Ex-WoW 5-boxer.
    Currently playing:
    Akama [Empire of Orlando]
    Zandantilus - 85 Shaman, Teebow - 85 Paladin, Kodex - 85 Rogue.

Definitely going to 4-box Diablo 3 after testing the beta for how well this would work.

you'll be fine i run 5 shamans on a dual core 2.4ghz intel w/ 8800GT, 4gb of RAM on XP. I get 20-30fps on main and 10 fps on the 4 alts.

imo though if I were to buy a new PC I'd get 8GB and run Vista-64 bit, the lifetime of your machine will be much longer (WOTLK is more resource hungry than TBC). XP only sees 3GB of memory, so it always makes me angry that I am "losing" 1GB of RAM. I also have no idea how the AMD quad cores compare to the Intel ones perf wise, but my next machine is gonna be a quad-core Intel with 8gb, vista-64. Hopefully buy it around the time WOTLK is out for best bang/buck.

Since I live in Denmark, the Q6600 is more like 225$.. While the Phenom is more like.. 195$ - That's why I choose that over the Q6600.. But thats just for now, still need to get the cash together for it.. Might just end up with upgrading my current machine with some more ram and a 8800 GT But I dont know yet..

ASRock is really not the biggest thing, I can easily get a motherboard with the same specs which is from something like MSI, Gigabyte etc.. So not such a big deal actually

Ty for answering, even though I had to bump the thread.. I will only be running 4 clients, so I doubt it will be much trouble.. I could easily change to the Q6600, just have to find another motherboard and then thats it, not a big issue..
Just need the money first, but they'll come.. Slowly.. Ty again

Default 4boxing machine - advise and stuff..

    Hi iztehzha,
I'm running a very similar box to yours.
    My setup is:

    AMD Phenom X4 9850 (2.5GHz)
    ASUS M3N78-EMH
    Corsair XMS2 DHX 4GB DDR2 2X2GB DDR2-800
    EVGA 8800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ

I only have 1 500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive in my computer right now, but I am able to 5 box just fine. I am getting about 30-45fps on my main @ 800x600 will full detail.
My setup has problems in town (Stormwind is the only major city I've been to thus far) and this would probably be improved with more RAM (or 64bit Vista) or 2 Hard Drives.

Your setup should be fine to 4 box.
