    Default WoW on a Netbook?

Has anyone had any experience running WoW on a netbook, either successfully or unsuccessfully? I'm looking to buy one, and being able to run WoW on it (at min settings, obviously) would be a huge plus.

The one I'm looking at is the HP 2133:
    1.6GHz VIA C7-M CPU (800MHz FSB, only 128k L2 cache)
    2G DDR2 667MHz memory
    VIA Chrome 9 GPU
    7200rpm 120g SATA drive
    1280x768 resolution

It comes with Vista, which I would dump for XP right away.

So does anyone have this netbook, or maybe an MSI Wind or Asus EEE PC and tried to run WoW on it?

I run four alts on this computer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220308 using a 22" Samsung monitor as the display.

I get pretty good performance anywhere but shatt.

That's got a nice Core2Duo in it though. I know there are tons of notebooks out there that can run wow just fine, but I was really hoping someone had a netbook.

My bad, skimming the forums as I work on 35,000 line spreadsheets.

the video card would be my big worry with it, but I would like to hear what others have to say.

The Chrome 9 chipset is definitely not on the officially supported list.

I'm guessing that you can probably run WoW on that machine, but I'd be surprised if you could play on it.

I've been shopping around for one of these (wife wants one for her b-day). Read a review at notebookreview.com and they gave it pretty low performance scores. I think 3d mark score was 90. Even still, it looks pretty nice.

Maybe the new Asus/MSI wind with the Intel Atom processor would be better?

Side note, I think the market for these things is going to go nuts -- Lenovo is releasing one in Oct. that looks real nice.

I run 5 copies on a gateway P-6860FX (that retail model is now being replaced by an even better one)

It has 4gb of ram and a nice (8800M) graphic card; initially bought it to play AOC; CPU (T5550) is maybe a bit behind for 5 (sym linked) copies but works for me with 4x10fps and 1x30fps

The screen is an issue though, I pretty much need to use an external display (1280x1024) for the alts as rez is only 1440x900 (I do have a setup all on that screen but its hard to read any text even on the main)
2,3,5 boxing wow with Wow Open Box and MAMA, give them a try!
(was 8 Boxing Wow with HotKeyNet and ISBoxer)
    Was streaming on twitch.tv/MooreaTv

I've got a HP 2133 Mininote, its a great little UMPC but seriously, this is not a gaming machine... WoW works, but is not fantastic.

    1.6GHz VIA C7-M CPU (800MHz FSB, only 128k L2 cache)
    2G DDR2 667MHz memory
    VIA Chrome 9 GPU
    7200rpm 120g SATA drive
    1280x768 resolution
    Windows XP Professional SP2

With Trinity Bars, Titan Panel and Serenity loaded my Idle FPS was arround 16-17 fps and i was alone in UC (low trafic area).

Jumping into AB, Mods loaded, 14 other players arround me, Idle at gates. This got me down to 4.1FPS!

And upon encountering the alliance. 2.7FPS

    My Video Settings

    Idle without mods nets 22FPS

2vs2 Arena wasnt too bad as far as FPS went, it was playable, also i suck at arenas :P

So, The HP 2133 Mininote is not great at WoW, but for checking your WoWmail, camping the Auction House and usage outside of high population areas it works. You just wont be able to raid on it :P
And there is no way you can box on it.

If your looking to do some gaming on the 2133, look into some older, less hardware intensive games, the ones i've got going on my 2133 are Starcraft(no widescreen res ) Warcraft III Frozen Throne (works wonders, but DotA can bog down), as does Diablo 2, Halo (occasional Frame Drop, but livable), Unreal Tourny 1, Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 (no widescreeen res) & Quake 3.

These SubNotebook PC's typically arnt designed for gaming, there strength comes from there ability to access productivity applications while on the move, internet, email & office. I personally use mine as a base for my Olympus E-410 DSLR when im out in the field to review and email photos while tethered to my SonyEricsson K800i Mobile phone. Also its great for watching DivX movies (im an anime fan so theres stacks to watch while im out). I would also recommend the 6 Cell Battery, the standard three cell only gives 2hrs of juice, where the 6 Cell outputs 4hrs.

Awesome, that's exactly the info I wanted, thanks! I'm like you, mainly want it take with me for digital photography and the 2133 was the netbook with the highest resolution (1280x768 vs 1024x600 like most others.) Kinda disappointed they went with the VIA chipsets instead of Intel ones.

The MSI Wind seems like the best alternative. The model with a 1.6ghz atom, 512m l2 cache, and Intel GMA graphics. Only downsides are lower resolution, no gigabit ethernet, and I apparently can't find any online stores that still have them in stock that aren't charging $100+ over the MSRP -.-
