Nearly all of you in this thread need to calm down. The OP posted a link on the DB forums that included some of his session information. He later removed the link appropriately once he realized people could click on the link and end up "signed in" as himself.
Someone took control of his World of Warcraft forum account and used that control to edit his signature. This is inappropriate behavior, but something we cannot track. It very well could have been a anonymous guest (since our forums are public) who was visiting DB who did this. In any case, it was wrong and they should not have taken advantage of such an innocent mistake.
Is it the OP's fault? No, it's a flaw in Blizzard's forum design. The only way he would have known that he was passing out his forum control within the link itself is if he already knew and saw the session information in the link, or if someone else who clicked on it noticed the error. If you're not a tech-oriented person, I wouldn't expect you to know that the session information was included in the link. He was not hastily throwing around account information -- it was an honest mistake.
To the people in this thread to immediately rushed to flame him -- please do not jump to conclusions. You're just making yourselves look like jerks. Re-read his post, because it was clear you didn't take the time to do so in the first place. He never said he gave out his account information. He very clearly said:
He also never claimed it was a DB member. So don't act so victimized. He posted it on these forums because that's where he posted the link that included his session information, that ended up letting someone "hack" his forum information.I posted this morning with a link that for some reason
Gave people access to Logging in as me on the WoW forums
His World of Warcraft account name and password have not been comprimised -- his forum account ACCESS was comprimised, but not the login information.
Now everyone sit down and play nice. Stop swearing at each other for no reason, stop acting like little children, and stop assuming that everyone is out to get you. We're a community -- start acting like one.
