    Default One computer or 3?

Recently i bought a new comp to run my 4 shamans ( AMD phenom 9550 quad core, 6 gig of memory and geforce 8600 gt gfx card) Now i run the 4 accounts fairly well usualy 35-45 fps on main but my bots top out at 15. i dont see any real latency issues or laggy moments but still i wonder...I have 2 old computers i used before i got new one. one has 1.5 gig of memory other is 2 gig and i always ran about 45 fps on them np. Would it be worthwhile to hook them back up and use them for 2 of my bots? What would i need to do to get them going properly and what kind of prices am i looking at? Either that or maybe someone has an idea why the bots fps is so low or is this normal? Any advice is appreciated

    *shudder*

For every time you mentioned BOTS in the above post, I am going to assume you mean drones / clones / followers, since a bot implies automation...

So, having gotten the pedantry out of the way...

Until earlier this year, I was a dyed-in-the-wool "one box, one WoW" person. With the open acceptance of software multiboxing solutions by Blizzard, I am now firmly a "use the smallest number of machines necessary to do the job" person.

Reading your post, I don't see any problem to solve, and no reason to turn on mulitple machines to do the same job as one. I'm not sure why you care what the framerate on your drones is. I lock mine to 15 (maxfpsbk) in any case, and have the video settings all set to absolute minumum.

I also turn the sound off and disable any mods I don't need them to use.

This on a machine that's more than up to the task of running the whole shebang maxxed out.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Yes i meant clones. im still very new to this and got the "Bots" from everquest. Sorry for the mix up. The only reason i asked about multiple cpu's is i thought maybe it might be easier to switch in another as my main if my main actualy dies. Right now if my main dies i switch to my clone and thats 3 wow screens fit on a 19 inch monitor which is very hard to see. Makes things rough in pvp. Maybe i need to grab up another 24" monitor so i can see what im doing a little better.

What software are you using, and what setup do you have right now in terms of window and screen configuration?

If you have Keyclone, you can use the "picture-in-picture" feature to pop drones to the foreground with the press of a key.

On my 1920x1200 screen, I have one "main" window at 1200x1024 and 4 tiny drones down the right hand side of the screen. If I need to swap drones, I just hit the PiP key associated with that drone's "region" and it pops into the main window.

My wife uses two 1650xwhatever monitors, dedicating one to her "main" window and the other to 4 tiled WoWs, and uses the same setup to PiP another drone to the foreground when things go wrong.

What I'm getting at here is that I think perhaps you have room to improve your current setup without firing up the other machines, especially if you turn down the resolution, etc, on your drones to give your "main" window more available power.

Of course there's nothing fundamentally wrong with multiple machines, and many people will tell you that for really competitive PvP that would be their preferred setup due to the delay inherent to the PiP process, which demands that the window be re-rendered.

It does depend on the machine though - mine switches almost instantly - and your own tolerance for delay

So i got the PiP working properly with a little searching but problem i encounter with it is when main dies and i switch off to 2nd clone and my Do-Not-Pass keys dont work for him. do i have to clear these for it to work properly or is their a way around it?

Otlecs you played UO? I played for about 4 years on Atlantic.

I have that same graphics card, cant wait to get more memory. Running on 2gigs of 1066 memory atm. Im running 15-40 fps on main and capped out second one at 15 fps, all on high settings. Going to be tri boxing soon.

    I need another moniter >.<

From the opening of Chesapeake through to the opening of the two European servers (where I was a Counselor Mentor), to its effective destruction with the introduction of Ninjas and Samurai!

    Happy days.
