Default AOE vs Lightening Shilds Discovery

Okay so i had an annying aoeing mage on me earlier in a BG. Normaly i dont really see them much as a trubble, but we all think they are annoying.

I didnt have Lightening Shild keybinded on my shammy as i didnt see the use since Water shild is so imba. But last night i was doing some 3v3, and thought lightening would be better( since i wont go oom, and its a nice add of dps). So i keybinded it.. And in the BG today when the mage was on me i go an idea that, "ohh wounder if he will get 4 procs from my shilds from 1 aracin expalotion) So i changed shilds. And instantly he droped down 2k hp. All shammys did 350 - 550 Dps each time he Aoed.

So for you guys that have asked about ways to kill aoeing mages, id say that change to Lightening Shild, drop some fire totems and shock 1 time and he should be down. If you got time then then change to Water just befor the totems finish him off so you can get some mana back from his last Aoe.

    AWESOME

I hate AOE mages, they really hose up my 4 man group! Will have to give this a try.

OMG THIS IS EPIC. I always have my water shield up like a noob.

I HATE HATE ARCANE MAGES. They are the only class to destroy my 5 man group. I usually drop fire nova totems, shock and run but by that time someone in my group is dead. I will have to try this new approach and pwn some mages.

THANK YOU FOR BEING THE NEW EYES I NEVER HAD BUT NEEDED!
The last thing the enemy will see is my Muzzle Flash of Freedom!

can some others test this out and comment? I used to use Lightningshield all of the time, and i don't remember having any less problems killing mages than I do now. The procs have a cool down and each proc doesn't do -that- much dmg....

I often use lightning shield. The orbs do have cooldown, but they hit fairly high when you have many of them. Against heavy aoe I usually first drop fire nova/magma totems, then lightingshield, then spam chain heal. works quite well.

I used to harass mages my own level (in the 30s) who would just AE spam. My first kill on my (horde) girls was from a mage who died from Arcane explosioning my shamans who had their lightning shields on hehe.

I remeber i used it some to kill low targets hiting on me when i was Soloing as resto in 2v2 etc. But apart form that its not really good in solo. But when 1 guy get 4 at the same time it starts to do some nice dps, its true about the CD ofc. I think its like 2 or 3 sec. So it will proc on every second or third explotion. But lets say you do the normaly aproch by droping 4 fire novas and shock him, that will normaly leave alittle like 1-3k hp left. If he first get a the 1-2k dps from shilds while you w8 for novas to go off, and on the same time they go off and you do the shocks, another 1-2k from shilds will come. I didnt say in any way that you can kill a mage totaly from just changing shilds, like some of you almoust sounded like. Its just a way to add dps on him in a way of not having to worry on truning arund to hit him with bolts.
