It isn't necessarily that people don't "get it"; I get it fine. But personally, before I go out and spend $150 to do this 3 account shuffle, I'd like to know if anybody has done it yet. I suspect there are others in the same boat.

I have two characters I'd like to catch up to one of my higher level groups, so I had a go at this today (on the EU realms). The character transfer doesn't work right now.
There's no error message, it just gets stuck on the "Character Transfer Form" of step 2, and hitting the continue button does nothing obvious beyond refreshing the page.
It could be a transient server problem, but the account I'm trasnferring to is still at "trial" status, and I'm certain that's where the problem lies - it doesn't make sense to allow a level 32 character to transfer to an account with a level cap of 20 after all
I don't have a spare key lying around to upgrade it to full just now. I'll pick one up at the weekend and post my experience in this thread.
You can upgrade the trial account in it's account management online. Unless you like stacking boxes or waiting to save 5 bucks, that's what I would recommend. Just watch out, Blizzard locks your credit card from further processing by them after 3 payments. That means if you want to do this for more than one account, you can't - without the help of the billing support which is not available on the weekend that is. =]

The EU site to do that has been down for some time (at least two days). It gets all the way through to the final stage (after you enter the credit card details), then:You can upgrade the trial account in it's account management online.
