No elemental shields?

The Wiki recommended PvP spec does not include Elemental Shields. I also see a lot of boxers avoiding it too. Why is this?
Does ES not stack with resilience? If it does, it's awesome, right?

Furthermore, the Wiki recommended spec has 3/3 in the +hit talent, which seems like a waste to me.

What spec do you recommend nowadays?

+hit can come from lots of places. That is true. If you have too much, feel free to respec and put points elsewhere. Otherwise get the +hit from talents and get more +crit for more mana efficiency from gear.

It really comes down to preference, I have been thinking about taking Elemental Shields as it is basically 200 resilience, but I lose 27 mp5 or so. Probably better but I need to see if I run into mana issues

I guess that when u achieve Ellay's gear, elemental shield is an option, but not needed.
Im in S2, recently took out my 3 points in elemental shields for unrelenting storm... and so far so good. I used to have mana problems, heals and nuke take a lot, now its a bit better.

I was actually wanting to start a thread about this today too. I've got more than enough hit from gear, so I took all my points out of the +hit talent and put 4 pts into Unrelenting storm. With 4 pts in there I can see a HUGE difference in my mana efficiency. I don't have mana problems nearly as severe as I used to.

I just got the 4 piece 50% uninteruption bonus on all of my shamans. I'm strongly considering taking all my points out of Eye of the Storm and putting them into the Elemental Shields talent. I play with a Palaidn with the improved concentration aura. So thats 50% interuption resistence there, plus my 4 piece set bonus means 100% interuption protection to Lightning bolt, correct?

hmm, I never actually gave this thought lol.

does the elemental shields add to your res cap? or is there a cap where your chance is reduced to its max and you waste these points? I am at ~400 res now on my toons and I am curious at what level of gear res I should drop the talents. I have just kept my old talent build from when i hit 70 LOL

I don't have access to the all powerful wowwiki but I'm gonna go with intuition and say that there is no resilience or crit reduction cap. This game barely uses caps for most mechanics, so I'm guessing resil should be okay to stack with elemental shields.


exceptions that i can think of are:
resistence has a dmg reduction cap of 75%
armor has a dmg reduction cap of 75%
hit rating is capped so there is always 1% chance to miss

but avoidence caps are non-existant, (rogue tanking gruul anyone?) and since other players can get ridiculous crit numbers 40-50%+ i'd imagine that you can surpress a chunk of that if you heavily stacked resil and then took whatever talents that you have available.

I respecced to elemental shilds during my first part of my gearing up. And i for sure noticed it. My team was sudanly survivng alot longer both in arena when i have my healer on me. And in BGs it game me the little extra time to nuke and then heal back up.

Go for it. But ofc.. you will have to take it from mp5. But then ofc. we do have watershilds and drinks in arena. Saving some dps on us might save some mana in the way that we dont have to sup heal much.
