Can't get NS to work

I just can't kill people with it. In like 4/5 of my wins, NS had nothing to do with it. I felt much more comfortable using TOW before.. but everyone said that NS is the way to go. My spell damage is about 900.


Maybe I'm using it entirely wrong? Exactly how should I use it? What are the proper casts before doing it?

Usually I go for a purge, then a LB, then NS+EM+CL. Seldomly works. Some time in this process I get aoe silenced, aoe feared, spell reflected, LoS:ed, out of ranged, 2 of my shammies are CC:ed or stunlocked, so the NS goes of asynchronously.. etc etc.

In essence, I never get a clean opening for the nuke.. because I get controlled all the time. This used to be fine with TOWs, because I wasn't depending on a one-chance kind of thing.. what do you think?

i think its the same as everything we are trying to achieve, it takes practice. I've taken down 2 people in arena with it several times, its all about picking the right time to use it.

Put on a pvp trinket on all shamans and use that in the NS macro so you won't be cc'd.

Its pretty obviouse that the warrior knows when theCL is comming.. Do you play with 5 shamans or 4 shamans and a healer? Incase you use a healer tell him to trow a light off something 2 secs before you use your NS/CL. If it doesnt work aim for something else then a warrior.

If you first purge him then do a LB the warrior already had 3 seconds to figure out whats next. What about LB the hunter then instead and do a CL?

What classes do you target first?

Yeah the problem might lie in that I don't switch targets good enough. There's also the issue with slave assist lag.

Generally I go for warriors/hunters/druids/mages..

Macro advice then but if your main die your kinda screwed.

Nice thing now is that they wont cast CL before they assisted me so you can just hammer the button. So they wont CL the wrong target

Saves me alot of hassle atleast when i level and if your main dies before you have used NS+CL i assume you already lost. You dont need this on all your abilties maybe only on your NS+CL macro and like ellie said maybe one who uses the pvp trinket aswell?

I*m playing around 50 5v5 a week atm. And tbh, NS dont really have to much to do with the wins. And sometimes i found myself saving it for so long that i can use it to finish off their last runner.. Its all about timing, and luck..

And basicly the Nuke + NS is the same as a Nuke + Shocks in most cases, the only diffrence is that the NS finish has longer range then shocks, and that you can allways add Shocks after the NS.

I see the use of NS more as a last resort. You know.. some time you really just have to kill that one guy, as he is tearing up your whole group. and you just spam bolts and NS + Shock and all you have on him just to brutaly over dps him down.

In the begining i started all games with CL and then NS macro just to kill the first guy.. Now its alot more about droping fire nova totems.. purging and then start killing ppl at the time when the noves goes off.. The reason for this change is probably that with 150 resilions you need to kill ppl asap.. with 350+ you can chill alittle and see how many you can kill in like 2sec time :P My record is 3 guys with novas and chainlightening only. Still had CD on Shock and NS left for their 2 guys

I've started to make use of the fire nova totems now also, they go down as soon as a charge is made, its a nice bit of damage that i now try to keep going.

If u save ur NS to when their all on low HP, its devastating. What happens to me usually, is using it at the beggining on a target that is far from his group. Well, without a proper early dmg, the ns itself no longer kill 1 target, because of their gear. Ofc im also working on mine, to increase spell and crit.

I really dunno how one can be so unlucky with the NS. Spellreflects and CoS, i pretty much see those, not as a counter attack, but as a defense, meaning, they cast it to save their ass's, never to screw me. Warriors are constantly using spell reflect, and rogues use CoS to get away...

I think ur giving away the method u use. If u contantly enter arenas and repeat a process of:

I use it mine at tottally random times, but trying more and more to use it wehn melee's have taken a fire nova or are low on hp.
It's not a matter of how to get it to work, its more like learn to use it i guess, and im also learning to use it, cause its the most devastating tool u have.
