Haven't followed up on this game for a long time. Was my first MMO. I made it to 56 Monk. That point after spending 3 months LFG about every day, I felt I finished the game and was done. Part of the problem was the times I play (Night shift) being on Japan prime time most refused to group with Americans, not so much as a racial thing but because of the communication barrier. I did run in to my fair share of bigots but hey that’s every where.



Makes you wonder, the game had slow combat. Pretty easy to hold agro. In this game the term is "hate" rather then aggro. I bet that game would be really easy to box.



It’s funny how MMO’s have changed. Waited a couple hours to find a replacement party member to continue, 10mins long down time after just a couple pulls. The amazing mob trains. Also how a mob would never stop chasing you unless you zoned. Almost impossible to escape death. Harsh penalties of death. Waiting 45mins for a raise and tipping the raiser. An economy extremely out of control with elitism higher then any other game.

Look how far gaming has come! I mean when I played this back in the day this was completely normal and expected. As you imagine my shock when I moved to Lineage II, I was like Jesus I can kill something solo!



The thought crossed my mind. In the past most of my time was spent LFG. What would suck would be leveling up to 30 to unlock the other sub jobs then questing for them all. Then leveling them up again. Stick boxing (melee) would be pretty easy given the range of how far you can hit a mob.


My desired party if I ever did go back
WHM/SMN - Healer

PAL/WHM - Tank

BRD/WHM - Group Buff support (less down time and also dispel) backup heal

BLM/RDM - DPS and refresh buff

Anything DPS for last slot

Between Refresh and the bard buffs down time would be reduced by a hell of a lot! Who needs food? Not me tick tick tick.

Thought it would be interesting to walk down memory lane. I wish I had pictures of monk in this White Gi with his Red Kote gloves. Looked bad ass.

I think about the game but I don't think I could go back. Could you? If they ever did make a FFXI-2, with PVP or not I'd try it for sure.

LMFAO like you FFXI was my first MMO played it for about 1 1/2 to 2 years befor I went to WoW shortly after it came out. Well after getting my mulitboxxing setup dont and all the learning I ended up like Xzin got board with WoW so I went back. Mostly b/c some good old friends still played.

Yes i did try multi boxxing there not a full pt b/c I didnt want to buy allt he accounts (although you do get the first month free if you want to try it). The little I did mess around with 3 accounts it could be done. the /follow there is nice you can make an /attack <t> macro and the following toon will run out and attach then return to following. And with not haveing to face the mob with your mage classes makes them easy to.

Although I counted what you had for a pt and pt there is 6 not 5. If you do stop by and your old toon still aint around (only keep them saved for a year with no activity) look me up on Unicorn name is Saska.

FFXI is definitely a great great game. I miss it a lot and played it quite a bit, the only reason I returned to WoW is because of friends.

I was doing very very well tripleboxing in this game and it even allows you to play melee classes with a breeze!
If your bored of WoW and need another good dualboxing game, this is it. Although be warned on how long it takes to level. It's no joke ;p

It does take a long time to level. Mostly the LFG part slows it down a good bit. Took me a year to reach 56. At that point is when I couldn't find a group for 3 months. I think I could still be playing that game today if I could have found people so I could continue. I started I think in 2003 with that game.

To prove to you how long I was LFG I got fishing in the 60s and no I didn't bot it either. I wanted that damn Lu Shang rod, it was my dream. I was only half done. :cry:

yeah 10-25 was really rough with all the noob key points. No good sub, no chicken, and very low rank. Back when I was playing to see someone rank 10 was like OMG!! and rank 5 was ok. Now 1-5 means your a noob to most. But all in all its a nice change the player base is different then most of WoW.
