Narrowing the field (WoW 2box)

I've been experimenting on the PTR and with lowbie characters a little bit, and I have narrowed it down to 3 combos for my 2box. While working on my hunters rep and honor points I realized it would be more fun and more productive to work on 2 characters at once. I want to PVE and work some battlegrounds with a duo and I would like some input if anyone has used these combos, and what you guys would recommend.

Warrior/Pally: Hard to kill, DPS spec war deals decent dmg, pally healer deals a little and is hard to kill, easy to ignore when needed, has some good buffs for the warrior, don't fight over gear to much due to specs. On the downside, kills aren't all that fast, harder to do mele dmg with the pally.

Warlock/Priest: Great synergy, fast kills, fears galore. On the downside, fight over gear, don't want to level tailoring on both, secondary character can die fairly quick.

Hunter/Warlock: Already have the hunter to 70, 2 pets, great dps, lots of options, no competition for gear. On the downside, not as much synergy aside from shear dps, have to control 2 pets.

forget about hunter and warlock either. Hunter has dead zone for dps. So when some1 comes way too close, you gotta run away (and not let warlock cast spells besides DoTs) to get distance

I would never go melee class or hunter for pvp. Warlocks, mages, priests... shamans after all...

I don't see how you can do well while boxing with melee in pvp. I could see a hunter, but its only slightly above melee.

I've 3 boxed with a hunter, mage, and druid, and the deadzone/minimum bow range issue isn't that big in pve. If you end up in the deadzone, back up a little bit so you can shoot. If you are in melee range, just melee the mob and let the warlock do some extra work. If you get a boar with charge early on for tanking you should be fine. Again, this is just for pve and if you want to pvp I wouldn't suggest using a hunter.

If you don't already know, channeled spells(like mind flay and warlock drains) break follow, which is something that you need to keep in mind. You just need to press it after every pull, which isn't a big deal but it sucks if you forget once in a while.

I'd suggest the priest/warlock combo out of your choices. You can main either, but I think the priest is better off due to shorter range with mind flay.

This is far from the truth.

I've dual-boxed a warrior / priest ( 70 / 68 ), and when /charge, the priest just runs to catch up. Never lost /follow when charging.

Two melee classes dual-boxin - Easy to melee both, just tell 2nd melee class to "attack on assist" and strafe around the target with #1, while spamming a /follow /assist <main> macro for the #2. Works like a charm.

Its not nearly as simple as dual boxing casting classes (like mages) but its pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

is it fun to strafe around every damned mob to start attack? imo no... in pvp it is impossible as well

talking about charge. Keep in mind, you can charge at enemy and keep following him while your priest stuck behind some small rock or something like that.
also keep in mind that you charge, rushing behind running enemy and your priest gets slowed by concussive shot. More likely you will lose follow or will have to stop attacking enemy and get back to your priest so he wont lose follow. Not effective at all

I'd go Priest/Warlock.

Hunter/Warlock would be a bit too much with two pets (especially in pvp), plus hunters need a fair amount of micro-management to be good in pvp (as I'm sure you know), so the lock would still be squishy.

Warrior/Pala fairly slow to level I'd imagine (pala dps not being stunning) and melee would cause trouble in pvp. Any ranged class would be able to kite you to death (even with BoF) and having your pala in melee range trying to heal leaves them open to stuns and kicks that a normal pala wouldn't worry about too much. Also lacks cc options.

Priest/Warlock nice synergy, tailoring is the easiest profession to level (particularly as you have a 70 already), it's the one trade skill I have levelled on multiple characters and wouldn't mind levelling again. If you want the trinity of gathering professions you can always have one tailor and the other two gathering profs and then powerlevel tailoring on that one when they hit 70.
At certain levels you'll be able to make some quite nice gear for them both, drops may be a bit of a pain, but aren't really worth worrying about until 70 anyway.
Fears, cc, healing and dispells/spell interupts. Can't think of a nicer combo versus casters (for dual-boxing), melee should be ok with fears, dots and healing.

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like priest warlock may be the way to go.

As far as the hunter goes, is there anyone out there boxing one and something else effectively? I've been able to do some easy stuff playing around, but IS there really a good choice for a hunter 2box? Thanks again.

Outside of the 3box hunter/mage/druid I mentioned, I've 2 boxed just the hunter and druid with good success. It was only low level(20-30ish) pve content though. The hunter was beast spec, and the druid was restro(but pretended to be balance most of the time). The only reason I was 2 boxing them was because I wanted the druid to get leveled up to join my paladin and warlock so I could 3box them, which actually turned out to be a pretty good pve team.

2-boxing 2 hunters in early levels wasn't too bad, and hunter/shaman was ok too, but these were only done low level(pre-20). Hunter/shaman might have turned out pretty well, hunter can tank(pet) and damage, shaman can heal and damage, but has bad mana efficiency. Them both being draenei with a free heal and mend pet for healing helping with bad mana efficiency might turn that out to be a pretty good team, but thats only pve. In pvp you still have the deadzone problem, but totems might help a little with that.

I box two druids (currently lvl 34) and a normal Feral Charge has never broken my follow. The times that it has broken:
1: Charging up a very step hill that you normally can not walk up (WSG Horde GY)
2: Jumping and charging mid flight over an object.

But what do you expect will happen using charge then. For PvE content, I use charge and while my 1st druid charges in, I make the other druid stand still. The gap that is left in between them is enough to keep the other healing out if the increase aggro range area. (After standing "X" yards away, you create "Y" amount on less aggro.)

For pvp on the side, i'm assuming your meaning BGs. Because if your on a PvP server, you will be doing pvp even when you don't want to. Got to love lvl 70 toons camping the quest turn in guys.

Some of the classes you listed would be ok in pvp, but not the best, but still do ok.

2 Hunters can do ok just make them both BM spec'd. Though you can't run in just by your self, your best bet is to stay with the group, and attack from range while your pets go crazy (and grow big and red). Also guarding stuff is good for this setup. Flare / Trap will help, and if you get a rogue on you, with BW they should die pretty fast. (I use to love rogues trying to stun lock me on my old main when he was BM)

Warrior / Priest is ok as well. For this setup i would guard a node. Hide the priest, and have your warrior out in the open for all to see and attack. Most will come in attacking the warrior, don't do anything with the priest at first until your warrior needs a heal. You will probably get about 3 heals off before they notice your priest. If they run to the priest, either shield up or fear them away. For this you also need to know the range of your healer. While none are around, run around to find all the LoS areas and furthest range you can be to get a heal.

I have used the priest warrior strat a few times on my druid. It's little easier because I can shadowmeld the healer one while the other runs around and fights. For a PvE / PvP combo, I love the 2 druids I got.
I can:
Tank / Heal
Rogue like DPS x 2
Mage like DPS x 2
2 Stealths for getting pass stuff (very nice when a lvl 70 toon is killing everybody in the city, yet you can still walk around and do turn-ins)

Hope this helps and gives you a little idea what can be done with Hunterx2 and Warrior/Priest.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought much about druids, but makes me think... for pure "hey that's neat" factor, I bet I could macro something that shifts a druid into bear form, and then charges on the warrior and druid at the same time...

I've been experimenting with warriors a bit more lately, and really like the class. I am starting to think rolling a warrior on the account with my hunter and then having a healer of sorts on the 2nd account to support the hunter farming and the warrior leveling/questing/factioning/pvping. I have no idea which healer would be best though if I pick this route, I would think shaman and pally would be easier for pvp due to more hps/armor, but any of the 4 healers could work overall I think.

This will be on a PVP server by the way, so I should get some practice while leveling. I do like the 2 druids or 2 hunters idea, but I think I want to stick with two different classes for variety.
