Thread: Hunter pets.

    Default Hunter pets.

I made 5 Orc locks in Mag and joined the family in the zerg. Im confused on what pets should I go for? I will be instancing and questing to level. I will get 5 boars to go pvp for a bit in the 20-29 bracket, but what should I choose to go while leveling? someone told me to go with 4 owl and 1 wolf. another 1 told me to go with 1 owl, 1 wolf, 1 turtle or boar for tanking, 2 ravagers. Both ideas are great i think, but hard pets to get as horde, especially the owls. Any inputs?

With a creative macro setup, it just won't matter. I've had great luck with owls and cats. Reprisal's hunter group is having great luck with gorillas for Thunderstomp AoE aggro.

Honestly, until you hit SM, aggro control is highly overrated, IMO. Screeching birds makes it almost brainless in most cases, thus the suggestion to get owls.

Its all personal preference really. with that said... i would go boars for pvp and pve till 50+
Since mobs dont last very long.. its nice that the boars charge in fast and you dont have to wait for them to start dpsing.

past 50 i would definitely get a little bit of variety.. the owl/bird screech is great for holding multiple mobs attention while you Mend Pet but they do not stack. So i would get 1 to 2 birds. Throw in a Coyote for Howl, maybe keep a boar for charge etc. Just try out a different mix of pets.

With 5 hunters can u really mess the pet thing up? I mean your going to have so much DPS not much is going to stay alive very long with you attacking it.

Yes, you can. Mainly, by going with tank/armor pets instead of DPS pets. :P No, really. If you're leveling, just get DPS pets and call it a day.

I'd advise at least 1-2 of the pets be a bird with screech when it becomes available (Greater Fleshripper (16-17, Westfall) * Screech 1). That'll help control groups. Another cool pet might be a gorilla at level 30 for aoe damage, or a dragonhawk (level 5+) from eversong woods.

If you have one pet doing growl, and another doing aoe, it leaves the rest to just use focus dumps like claw.
