Default [WoW] General Forums Lowbie Ignore

Interesting post I found tonight. Someone made a greasemonkey script for Firefox to collapse all posts from people under a specified level. Me likey.

    Script source is here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/review/31104

Caveat emptor: If you're using IE still, spin the cylinder and pull the trigger at your own risk. :P

    Interesting, yes, but ultimately pointless.

I don't think I've ever posted on any WoW forums, but if I did I would do it with a level 1 character so people who have any interest in it can focus on what I say rather than on what my arena rating is, what gear I have, whether I'm exalted with XYZ, etc, and use that to dismiss me.

I figure it would be easier than trying to work out which of my dozen+ level 70s I'd want to post with.

Dismissing me as a level 1 is still valid of course

Oh, it's definitely a bit of throwing the baby out with the bathwater but for people like me who just scan a few forums for a quick impression of popular topics (and the occasional nugget of good info), it cuts down on the retarded monkeys quite a bit. Plus, most of the professional trolls on my realm forums are <5, so this helps a ton with that, too.

The other side of it is having people complain about end-game raiding when they've never cleared kara, or talking about how imbalanced class X is in arenas with a 2v2 rating of 1200 and no 3v3 or 5v5 team. Posting on your main gives context as much as it gives credibility. Posting on a level 1 alt just screams "I'm too embarrassed to link my main character to this crap post."

Didn't they do something to prevent you from posting on level 1 alts recently? Like upped it to 5 so you have to spend a half hour actually playing it before you can troll on it?
