Yeah I'm not sure how much validity there is to this, usually MMO customer service tools allow notes to be attached to petitions but not players - its too open to GM abuse if they start letting them attach random notes to players. Customer service turnover is always high in these type of industries. I suppose a GM could leave a petition open on your account with "this is a multiboxer", but again, wide open to abuse - botters would "report" themselves as MB'rs and then go ahead and bot away, assuming that GMs will just ignore bot reports.
I don't believe that just because you SAY you're a multiboxer means you get a free ticket to not being investigated.

The investigation still takes place, but the GMs now have additional context. For example, if you hit a new GM (as you say, customer service turnover is high) who doesn't know the policy on multiboxing -- there will be a note on the account and he can ask his superiors for clarification before passing any action.

One of the first things I did when I started 'boxing was to report my own accounts. Multiboxing was less well known then, but it still helped relieve some anxiety to hear from the GM themselves that I shouldn't be worried about it.
