I think they are cracking down on it as of late. This last weekend, I transfered one of my pallys over to my main server, and went with Heeblonzo.

Lonzo being a running joke with my guild, as I have Farlonzo,Waylonso, Nearlonso, etc. etc. A friend of mine is big into Hockey, and there is a canadian player with the name Heeb. Thought it would be a good play on words, and a laugh for the two of us.

Of course, they went all anti-archie bunker and had me change it.

Now he is simply Dudelonzo... Or the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude! since all my other pallys look alike.

did you really name the toon thinking about worship of the textile ... or did you just think it would be cool to have a toon with a name that was a play on Satan Worship ?

if your really into worshipping Satin ... its kinda weird and kinky ... but hey ...

but if in your mind you thought it was a nifty way to do a word play of Satan Worship then the name change was justified according to the rules Blizzard set fourth ...

Our guild on Durotan "Short Bus Posse" was a rockin' UBRS progression guild until the name change hammer dropped. We fell apart after only a week of raiding as the "Blue Line Bandits"

It's not because people can't read. Svper didn't name it for a worship of fabric, it was meant to push the edges and be funny. It's alluding to Satanworship, which would be an actionable name so the ever-conservative idiots at blizzard decided to just ban any names which any person for any reason may be offended by.

Luckily nobody has reported my DK yet, Chaji is about the filthiest word in Korean lol. Would be a permanent ban on KR servers, im sure LOL.

"Ilovesatin" is also against the rules as being a complete sentence.

Of course, it is a deliberate misspelling of satan, which is a good enough reason to force a rename.

Really, the title of this thread tells us exactly how interested you are in provoking, rather than thoughtful discourse.

If they want to be so 'clean' with the players names as they might maybe perhaps sometimes offend a single player, they better filter their content as well.

I remember a quest where you had to go in a cave with a key: 'so long suckers, i'm outa here' (think his name was grmbl or something).

Also the daily quest in icecrown (think its called attack by ground, the escort one). When you are done the guy says 'blood and honor friend'. Blood & honor is one of the bigger nazi clubs in europe ..

Etc, etc, the list is endless.

A Community Representative once told us, when asked on the European official forums, that their naming policy is to be respected by players not by the dev team. if I remember correctly there was a drama where a player was reported to have chosen a pun as a name, similar to one that exists in the name of a NPC.

Also, if you are on a role playing server, the naming policy explicitly forbids names made of "partial or complete sentences"
