It's not nonsense... Your last paragraph proved the point... The more money you have to invest the further it will go.
You have to understand that there are people that control over 50% of the market at any given time. It may not look like it but it's happening. If I had 15-20k gold I'd buy 2 hilts for under 10 then sell them to the highest bidder. They range from 8-15k on my server. Highest paid was 30k. Although the demand is starting to wane.
Don't buy primordial atm tho as blizz has stated that any that have been aquired by hackers (guild banks are being hacked left right and centre on barth) and sold will be confiscated with nO money returned to the buyer...![]()

I guess that the less valueable 1 gold becomes (with current inflation), the more valuable AH playing becomes and the less attractive dailies become. However, tradeskill cooldowns are still very profitable. I have 7 toons with alchemy - which is a steady income of at least 1200-1400g per day for 5 mins of work and that without counting mastery procs.
Playing the AH can be a fun activity by itself though, even if it does require 2-3 daily scans :-)

for collecting gold, i ve tryed with success "deep" professions strategy.
bought recipes/patterns/plans for lvl 226/245 epics.
have 15 miners, 11 tailors (planned 4 more when have time to level to lvl 70+ my 4warlocks lvl 61), 3 Jc, 10 alchemists (planned 2+, more are a real issue to manage, it s hard here find 40/50 eternal fire in ah when it s tailors CD day (required 22 atm)+15 for bars+4/5 for red gems), skilled Bs, skilled Lw.
i sell mainly Gems and Epics (lvl 245 bracers are best choice, selling about 2/3 for day). collected as net earnings 250k in about one month.
sometimes do daily with just one grp.
in this way i can play instances, convert emblems->crusader orbs if i want, and buy in ah all mats i need: ores/bars, eternals, etc. fast and easy. if somenthing goes unsold for 2 days in row, i use it
you can do 14/15k for good day or 6/7k for bad day, on my server.

I'm not sure what it's like on your server, but on mine, making cardinal rubies is not good business - after you cut them, they sell for the same as cut king's amber / majestic zircon, but the mats to do the transmute are much cheaper for the latter. And you won't have the tailor CD problem, since eternal air / life is usually in plenty supply.

if i craft here 10 ruby gems (runed or, alot better, bold) i m 100% sure to sell all in one day.I'm not sure what it's like on your server, but on mine, making cardinal rubies is not good business - after you cut them, they sell for the same as cut king's amber / majestic zircon, but the mats to do the transmute are much cheaper for the latter. for other gems, in large stocks, it s not 100% sure.
yesterday got one x5 proc on majestic zircon, put in ah 7, solid, 2 unsold.
red finished gems price here is around 170/180g average, in close past was over 200g, eo ofc. eternal fire cost is 20/25g eo, scarlet 40g.
consider here it s full of dks and paladins, maybe 40% of chars when you look around
PS: here i still selling 226 plate items(dps/tank waist) for 3/4k gold too: this is a world of plate wearers![]()

I think you guys should get jobs in the stock market lol. Essentially the AH is the stock market but working in a video game
My biggest frustration these days is how cheap Frostweave bags are selling for, no idea why the market fell so hard but bags that sold for 70g are now selling for less than 50g on my server (Uther).
My only constant gold maker has been transmutes. I do not play the AH, instead I just post any excess mats I have (had enchanters that I DE all the dungeon drops from) and this can make a bit of gold here and there.
Otherwise I do the dailies as per the guide posted here, but I do think it gets VERY boring really fast.
I have found that running dungeons and just selling greys can just about keep up with repair bills for the dungeons.

The stock market require a significant investment of real money. Personally, I estimate I need about 30k before I can really make any good money, and there is a LOT more involvement. Plus, the AH is really more like a giant flea market than a stock market. There are many, many layers to stock performance that the AH can't even begin to replicate.
As far as AH tips go, I'd say find an overvalued corner of the market, and capitalize on it. I'm making about 300G a day selling Saronite Swordbreakers. Buy the mats, put it up for sale with a 15% mark up, wait for it to sell reinvest the proceeds. Everyone else is tring to sell the things at a 50% gouge, which I find excessive.
Watch trade, see what people are asking others to craft for them. Those are going to be your high volume goods you can swoop in on. Just don't go dumping 20 of something, because you can induce a panic, and everyone starts undercutting terribly. With titanium, I transmute from saronite, and put up 5 bars at a time, at a hair cheaper than the cheapest price. More often than not, they sell, and the other cheapest person is none the wiser they are being undercut.
