I used to love enchanting. I made tons of gold just by disenchanting items and selling materials...

Now prices have plummeted and enchanting is no longer profitable profession. Selling enchants is not an option for me. I don't have time to sit in Orgrimmar spamming trade channel. And there are only few enchants you get paid for anyways.

I'm actually thinking about changing professions. Currently i have Enchanting/LW which both suck at the moment. Any suggestions?

I feel that now enchanting has been brought in line with other professions. It's both a crafter and a gathering profession ion one. Enchanters had you both coming and going. DE should have been taken off Enchaters; that would have killed the "fair" issue.

Enchanting mats have come down in price? Really? Not from what I;ve seen. It's still too damned expensive. IF they have come down in price...... seriuosly, for the price tht they're still going for....I don't have any sympathy at all.

I haven't noticed much change either. If the prices are deflating it's probably due to people running heroics 100x more than before, and not from the DE option.

As far as the "unfair" thing, it's completely different as a gathering profession than the other 3. If you're a miner and see ore in an instance, you can roll the other miners to see who gets it and the non-miners lose nothing. If you're an enchanter and feel entitled to DE something, the non-enchanters DO lose out (either on a BoE they could have someone DE for them, or a BoP they could vendor for 5-20g.) As an enchanter it's much easier this way than having people ask who can DE and asking people if they want to vendor the item or have me DE it.

At least on my server you get more gold by selling certain items to vendor instead of DE.
For example rare quality weapons sell for 15g to vendor when dream shards go for ~ 8g.
Before patch you could actually make good money by selling dream shards alone.

I'm hardly surprised to see prices sink, and not because of the DE option. Due mostly to the fact that this expansion is old and people were waiting on this patch for a long, long time, hording mats that weren't going to sell nearly as well as they hoped.

I'm DEing stuff that's dropping 7 dusts a piece. I'm getting a ton of Voids thanks to purples dropping off every boss and even off trash. I stopped using my cloth and leather to make DE stuff, there's just too much of it in my bank.

It was the same at the tail end of BC. People are purging their personal banks, guilds are purging their banks. At least there is still the next season of Arena and there's still the rest of ICC to enchant through, but it's been a long time of playing with the same mats.

Personally, I went from having a healthy bank of enchanting mats (10k dust, 2k shards, 5k Essences) to nearly 10% of that.

I haven't been doing dailies, so I was selling a shit ton of scrolls on the AH. Between that and re-enchanting new gear on 6-7 toons, it dwindles fast.

I'm in the same boat. I stopped looting in my 5man runs because I had so much, and now I am back to looting everything hehe.

Enchanters DO have an option. They can unlearn the profession, or thjey can choose to only run with people who won't use the DE button, or they can change the loot system to ML, and ML loot around.

    There is always a choice.
    Damnit that's not a choice. That's imposition...

I would argue the Disenchantables market has less to do with DE being a group option and more to do with dungeon running being so damn quick now. No travel times, no LFG waits (unless you are a DPS looking to do a specific dungeon), the market is being overfilled, and its not going to change any time soon. If you are really interested in making your money, dump any epic gems or crusader's orbs while you have the chance, because those are going to be the next thing to tank.

And if you're REALLY interested in the long term, the next set of badge gear is going to be ridiculously inflated since you can now farm in excess of 100+ badges in a matter of hours. I estimate 36 badges/hour, give or take for crap like Stratholme or Utgarde Keep.

I still buy 25-30 stacks of infinite dust on Sunday.
And sell them off, listed as singles by Saturday.

All that has changed, is the prices.
Used to be: buy @ (2g per each) as a stack, sell @ 3g per each, as singles.
Now it is: buy @ (1g per each) as a stack, sell @ 2g per each, as singles.

The gold made, is roughly the same.
