I was thinking last night that the chance of me getting my 5 fellas to 70 and geared out before WOTLK is probably fairly small. Do you guys think we might see a situation where the current heroic instance/badge gear grind is eliminated by plain old questing fro 70-80 in WOTLK? That would certainly remove a lot of tedium from the progression grind.
Well.. As blizzard has already said, they will do the same in WotLK as they did in BC, make the early level greens about the same as the lowest level tier items available in the previous version of the game, making the first greens you get in Northrend T4 equivalent..

The only reason Im bother is that as there is no release date yet, or open beta started, we still have months to go.
I've already stopped trying to progress my existing 70 teams, and feel in some way "released" from that.
I'm now doing a whole load of different things, including bringing up a new team that I'll get to 70 just in time to continue levelling them right through to 80 :)
I don't want to derail this into Yet Another Speculation Thread, but there was a flurry of speculation a while ago that WotLK would be around November. That was reading between the lines of a financial report from Blizzard as I recall, and would suit me fine.

Well, /follow command is slated to be taken out of game with the release of the new expansion. I think this will end Multi Boxing for good for many of us here.

I'm not sure what to do. I'm tempted to take one of my 70's solo, just to enjoy the expansion...I doubt I'll have 5 at 70 by then, but who knows? I will be able to 3 box a team, so maybe I'll just do that. Then there's the whole MB a deathknight team thing...

I'm sure its going to be a lot of fun. Only this mounted combat will look hard to controll it 5 times, but if i like to heroic MGT, wich is also cleared by multiboxers, where you need to swim away from shit, i think this will be possible to controll after a while.

This is partially true. True blizzard has stated the new wotlk gear will quickly replace even the best BC gear (as you would expect going up 10 levels), but it will NOT be as drastic as BC was.Quote:

When BC came out, they made a drastic change to the amount of STA gear had. This made the lowest of greens replace the best gear quickly. This drastic change will NOT happen in WotLk (confirmed by blizzard). In there own words, "the gear will simply be better". So farming for gear is not as futile as it was with the release of BC. If you are in full T4 or S4, yes your gear will become outdated, but I see it as a very real possibily that you could level to 80 with it.
Of course, but my point was directed towards the gearing bit.. There's no need aiming for a lot of T4 ish gear if you're not yet 70, because you'll get good gear in the start of WotLKQuote:

I would say there's not a lot of point to getting good gear if you're just doing it like work. If you're having fun slamming heroics/etc. then by all means, continue having fun. :D The only reason I'd try to gear up a bit would be to get some PVP gear so that PVP in the 70-73 areas won't be so painful for you (talking about PVP servers mostly here).
I'm of course going to play around in instances and heroics till Wotlk, but my main focus atm is getting myself ready with my utility characters and such in preparation for the xpac. I'm leveling up 3 teams atm pretty much simitaneously to have all my bases covered and at 70 ready to go rather than gearing up 1 team as much as I can just to have most of that gear replaced once I hit 73 or so.

Same for me. Have 2 70's on one account and trying to get my 4 other accounts to 70. I have 2 of them at 55 right now and the other two just hit 30 today. I am hoping to get them to 35 by the weekend so I can boast them to 55 next week. Once I have the 4 at 55 I am just going to grind it out to 70 and hope it happens before the release.Quote:

Thinking about it as someone with multiple 70s on who dual boxes, If I wanted to 5 box I could just create a DK on main accounts(2), transfer one of my 70s over to a new account and then create a DK(3), then do the same thing with another new account(4). By the time I get the 4 DKs to 70 I can transfer on main over to my other new account and I got a 5 box, and there are 3 accounts I didn't have to level to 55 at all... very tempting.
hmmm... I wonder if transferring a 70 to a new account would unlock a DK.
I would say if that is your goal you might want to transfer them NOW before the release gets to close... but that is just a thought.
In other news... Don't know if 5 DK's is going to be they way to go.
Well I need to have the 70 on the original account to create the DK there, then transfer to create the one on the new account. All theory at this point but a team with 3 dk may be nice, we'll have to see how our 5 boxers with 4 warriors is doing.
If you plan on doing a lot of instance leveling It makes sense to continue gearing your tank and your healer. I'm convinced this will be the key to surviving the early 70s dungeons. At the very least I think a geared pally will make the leveling process much easier. So that's what I'm doing. I retired my warrior after deciding he wasn't made for multiboxing and am beginning the process of gearing my new pally tank.
Yea that makes a lot of sense. Plus having 5 characters at your disposal will make the quest content a good bit easier, though the PvP servers will be chaos.Quote:

I'm assuming you're talking about me as my project team is the 4 warrior 1 shaman team. I did want to include this little tid bit of info, with the randomness that is rage I don't have the ability to keep a regular rotation like caster classes can when you're dealing with multiple warriors. Warrior #1 could of just crit 4 times in a row while warrior #2 missed 4 times in a row while warriors #3,4 got 3 regular hits and a miss resulting in some very different rage bar amounts. Basically I have to spam Bloodthirst and Whirlwind buttons till at least 2 of the warriors has both BT and WW on CD and 50+ rage. Even if one is rage capped and the other 3 aren't it's too much of a gimp of my dps to start spamming Heroic Strike till at least 2 of the warriors have enough rage. My point is that even though I am able to clear instances and hopefully once I get to 70 and start getting geared up Heroics, I will never really be able to max out the 4 warriors dps, even with the exact same gear and stats like you could solo.Quote:

With DK's they aren't going to have just one but 2 resource pools, runes and runic power. Runic power is going to kinda work like rage and runes are going to be on timed cd's that can vary depending on spec and abilites. It's quickly becoming apparent that DKs are going to be the most complicated class in the game to play. I'm not saying they are going to be super hard but for sure more complicated. My point is that with how much micromanagement they are looking like they are going to have I'm not quite sure how well 5x DK's are going to play out. Doable sure, but probably won't be able to really max out their potential while MB'ing. I'm still going to try them out at some point :D At least 4xDK's + 1 healer anyways. In the end though I do think they are looking like they will be just fine for aoe tanking and will perhaps, hopefully lend some flexiblity to always using a paladin as the tank.

The combination of the change to stamina using less stat budget and a lot of pre-bc items having bad stat distribution is what made the jump big when bc came out. A T4 epic will have better overall stats, but a wotlk 70-72 green will likely have more specialized stats, but worse overall.
For example, Brooch of Unquenchable Fury from Kara has 24 sta, 21 int, 26dmg/heal, and 15 spell hit. A 70-72 wotlk green will probably have something like 30 int, 40 dmg/heal.
