Anyone use voice to play WoW?
why would I do that when I have 10 fingers that the ladies love. 8o
That was pretty interesting. A nice way of doing things.
There were however a few scary moments where the slave didn't really seem to respond to the healing requests.
All in all it worked quite well.
Wonder how it would work for 5 boxing.
Does anyone know the software used for this? Is it dragon dictate or is there something else?
i used voice commander for a week or so when i first started 2-boxing, i used the voice commands to control my priest and controlled the warlock normally, it worked most of the time but you have to set up your commands to be longer so it works better, and they can't sound like each other at all, like i would use "holy crap heal" for greater heals, and "sweet mamma jamma" for flash heals and i dont remember what i used for shields, and renew and such...all in all i couldn't get it to work all the time so i stopped using it and got keyclone :P but voice commander was only 10 bucks so not bad for the price at all.
I had been working on a voice recognition program that let you chat without typing. It could be easily adapted to map any voice command to any key press. Perhaps I should dig it back out and finish it up.
I've been using voice recognition for about 5-6 months now, I use Dragon Naturally Speaking Prefered Edition. And when its setup properly its about 95-99% accurate, but it does have some stupid moments where its just completely wrong. Most notibly thinking I said "Totemic Recall" during the middle of a boss fight - it didn't end well for me!
The recognition between my character names is usually 99% accurate. On the very rare occasion it will mistake a character name. But when my character names as so similar it can be forgiven. I would simply say "Heal Torrla" or "Heal Torrba" or "Heal Torrma" and everyone would cast a heal on that specific character.
I use it for such things are:
Grounding Totems
Saying "Crit" instead of "Elemental Mastery"
Trinket 1 / Trinket 2
All Earth / Fire Elementals
... or I can even specify which character I want to use an elemental such as "Earth Elemental Torrla", "Fire Elemental Torrma"
Heroism Thorra
I can even have a specific character use a healing / mana potion.
Every single spell / ability is controlable by a voice command if I so wish, and in many cases down to the individual character.
Basically I say a spoken command and Dragon sends the assigned key press. Eg..Healing potions for the characters are assigned CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+1 /2 /3 /4 /5. There is no way I can remember each key combination for the spells and abilities, and with Dragon there is no need to, its a simple voice command.
EDIT: Change version of Dragon to Prefered Edition
Unless you are a girl I would say that you have got 11 fingers that the ladies love, but you just use 10 of them for typing.Quote:

This has piqued my curiosity (well, it's another excuse to waste money on gadgetry, so why wouldn't it?!)....Quote:

I couldn't find the "pro" version any more. They only seem to offer a Preferred or a Standard edition.
I wonder if the standard edition can tranlsate speech into keystrokes the way you describe above, or if it's purely a dictation device....
It is an interesting idea :) If I were ever so inclined to use something like this, I would probably use it for those spells I don't use very often, but need in important circumstances. or follow :P
Is there any other programs that are like dragon would love to test this out instead of mashing a few of my repetive keys :D
Given the interest in this, I think I will pick up my project again and see if I can get a simple test version going in a week or so. It would work by simply mapping a voice command to a given keystroke or series of keystokes like a slash command (no delays of course, don't want to be breaking the rules). I can see some difficulty in mapping certain commands to specific instances of the game, so that might take a little longer. Note that you'd also be able to send chat messages as this was the original purpose and already works. This program would require Vista, since it has built in speech recognition. XP does have a speech recognition library it might be able to use, but I think that library is pretty bad.
Also, if you already have Vista, don't waste your money on dragon! The speech recognition that's built into Vista is quite good in my experience.
Sorry yes, its the Prefered Edition. I'm not sure if the standard edition has the Custom Command centre. Its the Custom Commands that I use. For the most part I only use 10% of its features.Quote:

I couldn't [url='http://www.nuance.com/talk/compare/
That was my original intent, to only use it for spells I rarely use. But once I started using it I wanted to do more and more with it. It made me lazy in a way, why move my left index finger to press button "A" when I can say "Water Shield". LOLQuote:

I'd love to look into this once you have a working version. You're right the speech engine in Vista is pretty good - once you have a application that utilises it properly. Dragon is very expensive if you're only going to use it for giving simply voice commands for multiboxing. I'm lucky enough that work have a copy and without breaching license I can install and use it on my home computer(s). I've tried similar applications that utilise the Vista speech engine but their features were very limited and in some cases the response times were in excess of 1-2 seconds.Quote:

Well I had it running pretty well in my 32-bit Vista development environment. I can specify string commands or key presses from an XML file. However when I moved it over to my 64 bit Vista that I use for boxing, it failed. I think I know what the problem is, just need to get visual studio set up to try it.
Another option is to use the Vista speech recognition feature with the beta Macro tools. The macro tools allow you to create custom commands for Vista speech recognition. Its not overly complicated to do, but for those who want/need a nice WYSIWYG edit it may be a bit complicated. Though I'm sure we can develop some class templates, all they would need to do is modify a field in an XML file.
What?!?!
I´ve found an AddOn called "My Voice Controller"
An the fuature list say[*]Mouse button click (Left, right, middle) [*]Mouse cursor move [*]Mouse cursor position save and load [*]Macros - Allows common/long commands to be referenced by a single key word [*]Special voice commands such as repeat last command
And now my questing?
It´s possible with this AddOn to loot Items via Voice Command?
Maybe you say Loot and the Cursor go to position xy,than klick command and the loot is complet
I can´t test it because my Internet is very stupid here in Afghanistan.
Can you tell how this addon is?!?

Thx Tholo
yea i am using Vista 64bit...Never knew you could do more with the speech thing :D cant wait to test this
Edit....My Voice Controller" Is not working for me in Vista 64bit when try opening it i get a Windows Error. tryed running it in other Compatibilitys but still dont work.
Have anybody test this AddOn on a 32bit or Xp System?
thats so bad, i think its a very good AddOn for Multiboxer and people with diseases
I posted about some reasonably priced voice control software that I've tried out (after being inspired by this very thread).
vrcommander.com $10. Requires no training. Works beautifully with keyclone and is super easy to setup.
I did try to make a fraps video, but it captures the game sound, but not my voice on the mike so isn't worth posting.
This one is made for vista only (not tried it on x64 yet, but it did well on 32.)

I installed some voice recognition software last night and played around with my lowbie locks a bit. OMG I am so going to set this up for my pally/shaman team. Sometimes I get a bit frazzled when getting ganked and really frazzled in BGs and think this might help me run the team smoother. Can't wait to get home this afternoon!!!
It's amazing how quickly voice commands become ingrained.
I played on my desktop with the voice recognition on it, then went downstairs to the laptop.
I realised I should probably stop talking to the computer as it doesn't have the voice recognition software on it :D
Tryed that but still did not work for me :( Time to look for another one.Quote:

Meathead, try the My Voice Controller program again, but be sure to install Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.
Like you, I was unable to get the My Voice Controller program to work under Vista 64bit, but I hadn't tried installing .NET 3.5 (I had assumed that Vista includd that version of .NET out of the box). But I though "What the hell, I'll install the .NET 3.5 and see what happens". I then launched My Voice Controller...No pop-up Error! I then opened Wordpad and said the word "Heal" and the number 4 appeared 8o (I double checked and confirmed that in the default configuration that "4" was, in fact, bound to the word "Heal").
Once I get it set up, I will try it out In-game. If I run into any issues with the program, I will update this post. Otherwise, it appears to be working.
You can get .NET framework 3.5 at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en
Also, get the most recent version of My Voice Controller (v1.8.11.11) at http://www.5hyphen.com/5hforum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=709 (the one on wowinterface is old (v1.8.8.7) but does still seems to work)
and you can find the online help files for My Voice Controller at http://www.5hyphen.com/5hforum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=723
Hope that helps,
Xid
Very interesting!
Let us know about your progress! Yir!
You don't. (easily at least not easily) But you can software broadcast it, it counts as a keypress so keyclone picks it up and handles it as if you typed on the keyboard.Quote:
