Boosting 1 lowbie or more than one?

I searched the forums and couldn't find the answer to this so I thought I would post a new thread.

I currently have 1 pally and 4 shamans level 32. I know from experience and from other's comments that 5 shaman will do better in PVP than 4 Shaman and a Pally. It is actually frustrating to be in a BG while my pally is standing there looking goofy while I'm trying to cast on a distant target. Anyways, I want to have a group of 5 shamans for PVP and also a group with a pally for PVE and instances. While I am thinking about this I begin to wonder if I should go ahead and and level some other classes as well.

I'm not really sure how XP would be divided for a group of 2 (pally level 32) and a lowbie shaman or other class vs pally and say 1 shaman, 1 lock, 1 mage, 1 rogue..etc. Would it take longer one way or another? I'm thinking it would be nice to have a variety of classes I could use when needed but if it is going to be too slow for now I would assume just wait. Didn't want to get too far along in the event I should be doing something sooner than later.

If you have more than 2 accounts you should NEVER be boostign just one toon at a time. First off you get a group bonus if you have more than 2 people in your party. And I think you get better exp. If you are boosting you can boost with a pally pretty easy up to 52 just in instances. Then you have a group of your shammy and 3 other whatever to level how you want.

But if you want to just pvp, then just go for 5 shammys, they have been known to finish every single dungeon for pve. I just depends on how easy you want to make your PvE life(easier with the pally).

Just some data to throw out from my experience:

Level 70 pally
Level 30 lowbie
about 100 xp per kill

Level 70 pally
Level 30 lowbie
Level 29 lowbie
about 110 xp per kill

----

Level 70 pally
Level 55 shaman
Level 30 lowbie
about 50 xp per kill


I don't know the exact formula but as you can see, it was very beneficial having more than one lowbie of the same level in the group than two toons who weren't getting any xp plus a lowbie.

The group xp kicks in when you have 4 or more people in your group. If you go raid and not a raid instance you will lose alot of xp for being in a raid group

5 shammys are killer, but i heard that 5 locks or 4 locks and a priest are better at pvp. Think of the seeds in AV when they are all together. Chain lightning is great but there is a cool down for that and it only hits 3 targets, seed is a huge aoe. On single player i kill a lot of guys with just 1 seed. Camping there gy would be fun. Tag them all with seeds they all die at once, life tap, heal, and start again... lol

omg..didn't think about the seed of corruption. hmmmm.. you have me seriously thinking about rolling a team of locks! If anything just to play around with. maybe get them to level 19 and just use them in WSG for a while when I get burned out with the other things. :) btw, i know soc doesn't come until higher level but the dots and 5 pets would just be too much fun. I can only imagine how intimidating it would be to have 5 void walkers running at you. lol

And the more I think about it..going to finish farming enough gold to get my mounts for my other team and then roll some locks. :)

Shitty thing is seed is lvl 70 ;(

I didn't get this idea until i meet a really good pally tank (you probably best off doing instance, if you want, with a pally. Your seeds will pull agro quick) he had good agro control i wanted to test him. So i mixed in a seed with a sb and i didn't pull at all, then i went all seed and pulled nothing. So now when i group with him all i do is seed with 2 or more mobs (i do better dps with seed only aoe 1 mob then sb them both) and i am always at the top dps by like double of the next highest. I was in all blues and was out dps all purples. I would say 80% i would kill the non skulls before the skull dropped. The other good thing is that we never need CC for the heroics that i went into (it would slow us down). So that is when i had the idea of 3 locks and a priest (would love to do 4 locks, but needed a healer). My second team is 3 locks and priest (pally is universal tank for all my teams). Cannot wait to try instances with the 3 locks. Just to see the seed blow up time after time.

lol...can't stop thinking about this now. you could summon a doomguard (actually several) at will. have my pally there to rez the one that dies and summon another. that would be truly insane. anyone here ever done this before? thinking of the logistics doomgaurd summoned, one lock enslaves one dies..then maybe the next one that is summoned the lock with the current enslaved DG dies, re-enslave...etc. could be difficult but worth trying i suppose. i imagine it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to get 5 doomguards summoned.

I would do one maybe 2, but three is pressing your luck.... (no whammy, no whammy, no whammy). Don't forget your have infernos too.

I recently created a 3 lock/1 priest team too... I'm looking forward to it.

And as a bonus... soulstone the locks, upon group wipe, rez the locks, and summon the priest! =D

just created 5 locks and leveled to 4 so far. i was thinking about replacing one of the locks with a priest for healing and rez. may do that down the road and may not. depends on how things go. anyways, can't wait to get the voidwalkers! good night..

The good thing about adding a priest to the mix is healing more then anything. The priest probably won't dps at all, so you will lose 1 dpser, but with a priest you will have no down time. You can spec your locks with destro, and when they have no mana life tap till full then heal with priest.

I'd second that with dropping one lock and popping in a priest.

Not to mention if you go shadow with the priest it has great synergy with locks.

You know what i just thought of. If you get your guys to 70 and welled gear and they are on a PVP server, just camp the starting area of the new area in the expansion with seed.
