Most efficient AV strategy?

Please note: I here want to focus on efficiency - maximum honor per time unit, not the best way to win AV.

How to properly do AV?

AV weekend starting today in EU.. grindtastic.
So what do you think is the best way for a 5-boxer to play AV? Since 5-boxers have quite an impact on the battle in AV, I'd like to know what kind of playing style will give me the most honor per time unit in AV. I'm running an S3 geared 70 hunter along with my 4x 68-69 shamans.

Full PvE offense?
Full PvP offense?
Dynamic defense?
Zerg?
Something else?

i dont know if this is the best tactic for honor farming in av, but 4 shammys and a hunter got the potensial to be an acceptable guarddog on the brigde back at the base, "if your alliance that is" one shooting less intellectuel hordes that are trying to cross must be enjoyable activity hehe

That's probably not a very efficient strategy.

In order to maximize your HK's, you need to have as many enemy players die as fast as possible near you. Potentially the best way to achieve this is to have two large zergs kill eachother (a lot of potentials kills and a lot of fire power concentrated at one spot). Just make sure that it is the enemy zerg that gets killed. You can do this by healing your team mates and focus firing the opponents that do the most damage. Healing should have priority, since the zerg already has a lot of firepower. Of course in order to get the HK's you need to be alive, so you probably don't want to be at the front of the zerg.

There is however one problem with the above strategy. Usually when two zergs face eachother, noone wants to be the first to attack because that person will usually be the to die. So you'll have to find a way to start the fight and to keep it going.

personally, i worry more bout winnnig than bout hks:) and since allies are held like little babies by blizz.. with their bridge of doom and camp full of elites (notice horde don't have that?)

Anyway, i run to galv.. setup behind him and 90% of the time i wipe the entire ally ofense which makes them res back at their base.. cause we have shgy by then.. and that usually wins it for us;) soon as they zerg in like 10 year olds on sugar i release 5 fire elems and start the CL's:)

NOT GO DEFENSE!

I enjoyed this a few times but didn't realize I was screwing everyone over by causing the alliance to die early and then be forced to turtle causing the game to be drawn out incredibly long (the last game I was in was actually 55 mins! they summoned their Druids and we almost had our ice lord!!) just zerg, you might lose a few games but it's by far the best honor/hour

My strategy is to go kill the captain first, then run back and recap IBT and TP. This usually prevents a turtle since by the time I get back to the towers, alliance have already turned the RH. Holding the two towers makes it impossible for the allies to kill Drek, and most of the time they are too stupid to come reclaim their towers with more than one or two people at a time. This buys my offense enough time to make their way up and kill Vann without drawing out the game longer than need be. I probably win about 90% of my games, only losing if the alliance put a lot of people on IBT and TP.

The key is to let the majority of their offense go by and only then recap your towers. Then proceed to /guffaw as they wipe on Drek over and over and over and over......

I dont belive in a "this is how its done" guide on this subject.. But.. If your side normaly will rush down, get the towers on the way and kill general, I would say that as a boxer it will be most effective to stay somewhere and nuke as much ppl as posibol before general is killed.. that way you will get det same bonus honer as if you run down and killed him your self but also you will get alot of HKs. In last patch the changed so you will now get the same honor up to 50x timed pr chr.

Peronaly i'm allies, and if i dont have any healer mate with me i will write something like "quad shammy boxer LF personal healer for imba defence" and i will guard the bridge. This way the hord hardly make it past, i can zerg them and get lots of extra honor and my guys can focuse on doing towers and killing general while i have a few others with me in defence.

This is working fine for me now days. and we usaly have fast wins. But it happens some times, and i dont know if if it would not happen if i choosed somehting else but now and then it turn out to a "zerg them to 0 resourses game".. Peronaly i dont have a problem with it.. i enjoy my nuking / fraging :D and i love to end score when lots of times i will be nr 1 2 3 and 4 most HKs :P

i know that i love sitting in a tower with all totems glowing:) only thing gettting me out is a couple of mageS:)

I tried going on O then coming back to recap, doesn't seem to work well on horde side.. if i sit in galvs room, i can wipe them out unless its a huge zerg.. which im usually lucky;) after they give up, i take back IBT and hang inside the tower.. if im lucky someone will camp in TP... i just had a GREAT game.. allies thought they owned us... hmm can't kill drek with 2 guards up though:) spent 30 mins trying to dislodge me from my perch:) bhahah

While i was in there i see in chat "FUCKINg FAGGOT MULTIBOXER!!" im like WTF?! and someone says "we have one too" i think a ally boxer was guarding balinda:)

I had an interesting experience today:

1. Blow up enemy captain.
2. Make sure your randoms are guarding capped towers.
3. Rush enemy keep, get GY then towers (this will result in a fast game vs time).
4. When randoms have moved into the enemy keep, recall to your home base, rush your general's room, pop fire elementals, defensive totems and start circular chain heals.
5. Your randoms will kill enemy general, while you destroy enemy randoms at the general.
6. Win fast, with 400+ honor.

Do not go D.

Do not stop and kill anyone.

Ride straight into South Bunker and cap.

At this point the rest of the team will either take N. Bunker or you'll have to do it after S. Bunker Caps.

In anycase you want to avoid a Turtle. I can farm +200 HKs in one AV. But killing them all while playing D is great for the ego, 23 min AVs for 590 honor is <<<<<< than 400 honor AV losses in 10 min.

On AV weekend you'll notice Alliance doesnt even try to take Snowfall. Thus causing a turtle if they die becase they become resistance to the Bunkers and Aid Station. Do not kill anyone you dont have to. Cap Bunkers and its gg. Its better for the honor grind to lose every AV on Bonus weekend in 10 min, then to win every game and have it take 30min.

Personally I have a low self esteem and lead a very boring life that makes me angry. So I just play D, save Galv, and destory any Alliance that comes within Lightning Bolt Range. +200 Hks makes me feel good :P

Hahahaha... For months I was so bored and frustrated with WoW, that I could hang out for hours and hours in Nagrand and gank people. I would take a screenshot every time I ganked someone.. and I think there are well over 1000 screenshots in total in my old WoW folder.

I also came to the conclusion that defending is never good for your honor income. Ignore players, go full offense. Take towers fast and make the AV end as soon as possible, in any way.

In my experience this advice works slightly better for Alliance. In my group, it seems to me that Alliance loses everything consistently except AV. In AV Alliance wins about 60% of the zergs and less than 50% of the turtles. (This is all my personal observation, though. I could be completely wrong on the actual percentages.)

Also, wouldn't queue times figure into this? Isn't it better to grind low-honor kills in a turtle than get no honor at all waiting for your next AV to come up?

Given these factors, you probably need to compare the chance of winning with either strat, the amount of bonus honor, the average length of each game type, and the average wait between AVs before deciding what strat to use. Then you need to convince your whole side to follow your advice.

I have an average of 1250honor/hour in AV.
Did 44wins this weekend in 48 played games. Always defending (choking point near IB) and motivating (at least trying) other players (never more than 10 others) to defend. I motivate them first by sending a message (nice one :)) while in the starting spawn point and working hard :). Defending Galva, getting towers back or even capturing bunkers and defend them till validated.
If ally waves stop coming I either capture and defend one of the bunkers or go north and attack SP gy passing under the bridge. If all already taken I just (try) rush past the bridge (it's successful most of the times) and get into one of DB bunkers, capture and defend it.

It's great to def, quite rewarding in terms of satisfaction, very motivating for others watching the carnage and superb for the flow of the bg.

I take objectives until complete. Objective = honor, despite of who wins or lose.

1. Stonehearth Bunker. Staggered Searing/Grounding/Healing or Mana/Earthbind spam every 30 seconds. Watch entrance for quick targetting, and nuking as they climb up the steps.

2. Balinda is the noob team did not take her out.

3. Icewing Bunker if it isn't burned, or cap.

4. North.

Usually, by this time, Van is almost dead, or Alliance has won.

When I am Prot Spec on the Tank, I Salv the Shamans and tank Van +1.
