I'm currently running Bartender as it's what I'm used to but planning on switching to Trinity.. the ability to be able to have more, longer macros than the normal WoW system would allow is just too tempting for multiboxing.
Really I didnt know that was a feature of Trinity. So does it also have its own macro editor as well???Quote:

yes trinity has it's owne macro editor, basiclaly you set the key to be a marco and then you write the macro for that key. I have used all the popular bar mods out there and Trinity2 is one of the best IMO most flexable. also it has a function where you set to be in key binding mode, you hover over the button you want to key bind and press the key or series of keys and it is keybound, just turn off the keybinding mode and you have sucessfuly set key bindings.
Trinity is far more suited for a Multiboxer. If gives us the ability to do many things as well as unlimited number of macros and a far larger size of macros, macro directly into the keys, easier direct binding system, and many many other features....imo its only downside is how long it takes to initiatlly get configured and working for your taste.
basically you have a customisable action bar in which you can open up an editor for each button and set a macro of any length (well very long at least :) ). there is also an option to create hidden buttons. these are stored and can be keybound and don't show on your screen. If you've seen some peoples vids taken from a clone, some of them have barely any buttons showing. Just note, there is a limited number of hidden macros you can have until it runs out of space, but you could potentially have 500 buttons on your screen if you wanted that many macros ^^
so yes :) it has it's own macro editor
EDIT: only problem is setting up all the macros that come to mind ^^ once i found this mod i spent a whole day making and setting up new macros :P It took me a while to find the macro editor. If you install it, it shows a minimap icon similar to the druid flight form icon.
left click will open up a few options. Rightclick will bring up a hidden buttons console, so you can add one you want hidden away. and Shift + Rclick brings up the bar/macro editor for each button (macros under the 3rd tab)
:) just thought that might save you some frustration :)
also add any hidden buttons right at the end! make sure you are happy with the layout of your bars. then add the macros you wish to add, to the bars and lastly.. enter the console and remove all hidden buttons (there are usually a few blank ones there that are left over from resizing the bars) and then begin to add your own custom hidden macros
and finally :) set the key bindings :) It can be done sooo easaly. there is a button to press around the flight form icon, that goes into keybind mode, where you just have to hover over the action button and press a key to bind it :)
EDIT: might make a small video explaining it's set-up :)
Can you share macros between characters? Like follow and assist? or do you have to rewrite all of those macros for every toon you use
Thanks
Trinity all the way.
Another feature not mentioned here is that you can have different layers for each bar, and you can make a bar visible or hidden dependant on a number of states your character can be in. For example, you can have a bar hidden when you are in combat, and another hidden when you are out of combat. I believe they also have filters for whether your in a battleground, a raid, an arena, etc.
Trinity all the way, I would vote 10 times if I could ;)
You forgot to mention that you can set a default target for all the buttons on a bar using unitids, so you can have target=focustarget for any spell you drag to that bar.
I may give Trinity a try, right now I'm waiting for my processor to arrive to go back to infinibar, using a modified Bartender in the process. Infinibar is all pseudobuttons which makes it nice, especially in that if you copy it's settings to another character of the same class, the buttons will all be in place already, lol. Infinibar is FAR from light though >_<
Same with Trinity, I copy my 'locks config from one to the other 3 (I also copied my priests to the Locks to get the X-keys layout setup the same everywhere)
Yeah, gave Trinity a shot, it still does what it's always done since 1, modifier paging is a bit buggy.
Press down alt: Get the alt bar.
Press down shift: Get the shift bar.
Release Alt: Goes back to the main bar instead of the shift bar.
Drives me NUTS.
May just get used to it if Infinibar is too heavy.
Inifibar can be paged with macro states, as I prefer page states to more buttons (I fail at "piano" style keybindings lol) More page states FTW:
Can't wait for my new CPU/RAM, want to try crap like:
[nomodifier,target=focustarget,exsists] <-- standard assist.
[mod:alt,target=focus,exsists] <-- heal the leader
[mod:alt,mod:shift,target=player] <-- heal themselves
and the reason I was using it BEFORE I multiboxed... the ability to have pages for modifier combinations (which nothing but marsbar and infinibar really do anymore, but I got hooked on with Flexbar baaack in the day.
[mod:alt, mod:shift] <-- page when alt AND shift are down
[mod:alt, mod:shift, mod:ctrl] <-- page when alt, shift, and control are down!
I tried Trinity Bars TWICE but I can never get past the set up stage... so I keep going back to Bartender
?? what is difficult about the setup stage?
create a bar... set the options, clone it as many times as you need ;)
setup each button as a macro
set the keybindings, remembering to remove them from the builtin key bindings or they reset on login
oh ok then ;)
The trinity template system is also godly if you respec your character or want to rebind keys for solo play.
I respec my main shaman enhnancement when I raid, and it takes about two seconds between TrinityBars to just click my Enhancement template set and it swaps all of my buttons/bars/macros/keybindings automagically. Talented (a mod for talent templates) also helps.
hadn't even noticed that feature ^^ ths is going to be shweet :)Quote:

really? Once again Vyndree, thank you ;)
Make fun of me all you want, I don't know if it's my graphics card or driver, or if I'm downloading a crappy version of Trinity, but when I try to clone a bar or add/remove buttons the damn bar disappears, never to be seen again.Quote:

Well, I don't care anyway, BT3 is easier to set up and uses less memory, it works for me :)
Been there, done that! When this happens notice the x,y coordinates in the bar config window. I've often seen that the new bar was hiding off screen. You can just type in new coordinates and press enter to get the bar to where you can see it.Quote:

Sorry mate, it wasn't supposed to be a piss take, the initial question was honestly asked and as I answered it I realised that there was in fact a bit of effort required.Quote:

I tried bartender3 and hated it, it was clumsy and clunky and horrible, When I first moved to trinity it wasn't much better, but due to the macros, I persevered and now find the new interface very easy and intuitive
also a key thing to remember is that there are different types of bar... a pet bar for example can't be clonedQuote:

I tried out trinity when I first started leveling my characters. It seemed very complex and honestly, I decided to go back to bartender.
Are there any tutorials or guides on how to use trinity for the ADD folks like myself?
Wow, never paid attention tot he X,Y thing, I'm going to go and try to use it again, I like the idea of extended Macros and Macros assign to buttons etc...Quote:

Thanks for the tip! :)
Can i ask someone to post a macro that is "too long" for Blizzards macros that you USE ? im just wondering why you would need longer macros hehe.
My 5 warlocks have the best one. ;) This is my "petattack" buttonQuote:

/me looks up.....
I just finally got trinity set up on one of my characters, and I was going to ask.
"Now that I've got trinity set up, the next question is WHAT to put in all those buttons?" :)
JEBUS! i had no idea macros could get that complex!Quote:

It basically just does the specific pet abilities depending on which pet I have out.Quote:

First it establishes a target -- either my focus, if I have an enemy focused, or my focustarget (if I'm using focus to establish my leader), or my party leader's target.
If it's an imp, its job is to buff the tank (hukmoth -- voidwalker, or if hukmoth is not out it goes for jhuudhun, my felguard). It also stops the macro so that the imp will not start attacking, since I want it to stay phase shifted.
If it's a succubus, it turns on auto-cast seduce if and only if I have an enemy focus'ed.
If it's a felpuppy, it attempts to dispel magic from each character in order of "importance" (first my main or my level 70 priest, then goes down the line)
If it's a felguard, it attempts to charge/intercept.
It also sets a "skull" icon on the thing I'm attacking.
Also, if I'm dismounted, my pets won't attack. So dismount if I'm mounted so that my pets appear.
It's a really beefy macro, but only because it's supposed to handle ALL the pets I could ever possibly have out. If I split it into a macro per pet, then that would also work -- but I'd have to make sure I always summoned the same pet or I'd have to update the macro.
can I nick that? ^^ I started working on something similar a little while ago, but gave up after I never got it to work! :S then it turned out it wasn't down to the macro, but down to the names of my characters :S never use the letter æ in any of ur names :SQuote:
