Change of attitude towards multiboxing

Attitudes they are changing (my 2 cents)...

Since around level 20 ish when I logon and logoff my girls (5x Shaman atm) each day I spend about 15-30 minutes in the middle of SW just showing off and answering dumb questions. So over the last month or so just about every day I've been doing this, its usually around the same time - give or take - and its often the same crowd. In my lower levels I had nothing but abuse, abuse and more abuse. It even got to the point where I was trying to avoid SW. But once I hit 50+ the abuse wasn't as bad and I even started getting a few positive comments from people. Over the weeks I continued my 'shows' morning and night and answered more dumb questions and the occasional not so dumb question.

At level 70 I had a lot of people congratulating me along with - the usual dumb questions :) Its been a few weeks since I hit level 70 now, but I still continue my shows in SW morning and night. Its only just occured to me in the last week but the dumb questions have almost stopped, a lot of people are asking more intilligent questions and even saying "hi" and engauging in general chit chat. When the occasional 12 year old idiot comes along and starts ragging on me a lot of people are now comming to my defense and supporting my arguments and point of view.

Over the last few nights I've parked my girls in the usual spot in SW and just sat there not saying or doing anything. It doesn't take long before it draws a crowd, likewise for the 12 years olds to come out. But to my surprise without me saying anything a lot of people are defending me, and its not just a few people, its a lot of people! Last night I had the typical multibox-ophobic 12 year old start ragging on me. His opening comment was "You're a fuc*ing dichead" (or words to that effect), everyone jumped on him like a Squirrel on the last nut on earth. About 45 minutes later he went running off with his tale between his legs. As sad as it is I had a lovely warm and fuzzy feeling from it. A month ago the same people who were ragging on me are now defending me! :D

Thats just me 2 cents.

Thats just wow in a nutshell, unless your level70 with epics there is just no respect, you can be from d&t levelling on a new realm and with nobody knowing you, there is just no respect. Now you've proven your worth to the realm so now they accept you. The wow community fucking sucks bad, but what else can you do. Its a real shame reallly.

I had similar experiences, fur, with my alliance chars. The gnome mages were almost universally loved. The 4 hunters were almost universally loathed. And I did nothing different. :P

This is wierd. Im 45 and still have yet to recieve a negative comment on my server. I even posted a mb thread on my realm forum and didnt get any flames. Not sure why as Im on Aggramar which had been host to a bunch of idiots since the start of wow

People abusing me for the way I play a game just reassures me further that I am not the one with the problems :P

HAHA yes i have encounterd this, also wen i ask S3/T6 ppl to heal me in AV or somting they jsut say "no, go away nab!" (Unless ther in my guild XD) but if i meet them in AV and they see that im shiting over the allys they go WOW man can we grp for AV again?

Yeah man I hear ya, even when I first got 70 some guy ran over to me and goes : "well that would be a lot more impressive if your gear wasn't trash".

I was like hey jerk, i just hit 70 48 hours ago, give me a break. And I already had S1 gloves and helm lol.

Anyways yeah now that my 5 guys are in full epics, most people think its awesome. Theres always gonna be haters or just trouble makers who will try to stir you up saying you have no life, whatever.

I just ignore those knuckleheads.

This statement applies to virtually all game communities where the median age is somewhere around 16. Thankfully the gamers that grew up in the 70's/80's continue to play, so that median age is slowly shifting older.. just not fast enough for most of us.

I used to receive the same attitude when I started playing my four Mages. I would get nothing but bashed and flamed, either for gear I was wearing or how it looked the same, or which talent points I chose - this was when I wasn't being accused of being a Chinese Account Seller or Gold Farmer (I even had a couple offers, lol).

As time went on, some people became really cool with it, and would ask me to kill stuff outside of Stormwind just so they can watch the four Mages cast at once. I even got a couple runs through Stockades and SM. However, all in all, it wasn't really worth being in cities just to show off, at least not yet since I am not 70. Thought, for every 1 person that would become acceptable to me playing more than one character at once, there were at least 25 other people who would either bash me.

Factions also didn't seem to matter, on Alliance it was more "omg u fukkin chaeter! you sell accnts!", and horde it was "Well, what you are doing is wrong and completely stupid. I've already reported you, get a life."

40%! That is a lot higher than I ever would have thought... I still kinda don't believe it.

My girlfriend is so out of touch with video games she calls my WoW dudes "my little men".

I get a TON of hate on Burning Blade Horde, but i made my guild <No Life> so when some asshole says that i have no life, i can say "Real Original Dipshit Did your mommy help ya with that one?"

I'm only lvl 10 on my team, and had my first visit to stormwind yesterday, and it was actually surprisingly nice.. There was a horde raid just finishing at the gates (They don't really seem to get much closer than just inside the gates), and a lot of lvl 70 ish people in that area.. Most of them were throwing comments like "I can't wait till you hit 70" and "That looks SO awesome" when I was running around.. :)
Just as I was doing Hogger, I got one flame from a guy who thought I was cheating, but his party instantly corrected him, and again, I got a crowd following me around, just watching what I was doing.. awesome. :)

In my entire time on Mag, I can count the numner if times I've been flamed on one hand. Most people have been positive in their comments, or are just curious as to why I do it. Quite a few have assumed I'm levelling them to sell them, but once I epxlain what I'm doing, they are pretty encouraging.

But then again Mag is mutliboxing central...so people are more used to it here.

Yeah, I've been surprised on Mag. I've just started leveling a 5x shaman team, and two people have already asked if I'm a part of Zerg. Level 11 and not a negative comment yet.. MUCH different than a few other servers I've tried it on.

If they ever open up for transfers from PVE to PVP, even though I know they won't do it, I'm gonna transfer my team back to Xavius when I hit 70, just to cause an uproar. :P

Since hitting 70 and buying some S2 Merciless gear for my shaman i've been able to turn around the win rate for the AV's i have joined by defending Galv and taking back towers. I always get a small fanclub of people who stick with me and if i notice one of them is a healer i'll dump them in my group. I would say i win 75% of AVs now, before that it was 30%ish i would imagine. So the attitude, although never particularly negative has become, "cool dude, nice shit" :) Im the only Shaman Quad boxer on Horde in my battlegroup so the fan club is building.

I had my first run in with a negative comment yesterday. Up till that point most folks had just been curious or given a few /wave or lols.
This fella randomly whispers one of my Shaman with a "CHATER" (soon corrected to cheater).
When I asked why I was a cheater, he responded that I was using a Multibox to control 3 shaman rather than 1.
I replied that it wasn't cheating, and he should look on the forums and his ToS to see that it wasn't.
That got a 'Whateva' back and the expected 'Gunna report you'. :rolleyes:

I was soon his ignore list (don't you just hate that when someone starts abusing you, then switches that on when they know they've lost?), however I guess he didn't realise that my Pala was leading them, as that was never mentioned nor whispered.

That however has given me more confidence to run round as a group in cities. Till then I'd either stuck to Exodar or split the peeps up when in SW/IF. However I left the ladies parked in the Shammy trainer in IF last night in formation, and that drew lots of giggles from the other Shammies visiting :)

I tend to get a lot of positive feedback because I go out of my way to be friendly to everyone (except for the obvious asshats). I'm also planning on doing some hide and seek competitions on my server :) lvl 1 Rogue hides somewhere once a month or so and the first to find me wins an epic mount :)
I'd love to see someone go "Multiboxing is a terrible thing" if there's a chance they could win an epic mount :P

EDIT: btw is there an addon that kinda acts like an ignore list but is simply just a list of ppl with a description beside them. Secretly I would love to do the hide and seek thing and then if I'm found by one of the people who was rly offensive, just not react and congratulate the second to find me :P (I'm so petty :P )

I'm definitely starting to look forward to my future as a multiboxer.. I've always been the "If you tell me something rude, I'll be nice and friendly back" kind of player, telling goldbeggars where to go farm, instead of just saying "go f*** farm" etc.. And I'm sure I'll do the same to people that assault me as a multiboxer. :)

like the thread starter, im spending some time in the capitals, showing off, and ppl like it a lot :D

theres 2 more 5boxers on my guild, ally side, but they are too lazy to setup a chain heal star, etc :P but the nice thing is, ppl are starting to associate us 3, like the 3 psychos from MB :P they usually ask me where are the other's MB, and ask the other mb's where i am. is starting to be funny, and this weekend ill prolly start in outlands, i hope i get some backup from alliance :P

You can't forget the Bejewelled/Diner Dash Crowd. My Mom can play minesweeper, online card games, online crossword puzzle style games and other word games (and that's about it). That still qualifies her as a gamer. Casual games are a huge market and a lot of older players stick to games like that.


Oh and back on topic, I've never done any 'shows' or anything in town. My mains are different classes, different races and so no one other than my guild seems to notice that I'm multiboxing. Though when I roll some identical little boxers to try something out, I get a few laughs or hangers on. Never had anyone say anything negative to me either. Of course, I don't pvp while dual-boxing so that might be why not.

So last night I'm running around searing gorge using my pally to beat on things that are nature immune. So this lvl 49 (I'm 48 at the time) starts laughing at me for having 5 guys and being unable to WTFPWN a single mob. So I drop 4x searing and 4x stoneclaw, turn everyone away from the mob and start talking to him. Immediately he's like "loser, wtf such a waste" until the 70 rolls up that he's grouped with. The mob dies without me even fighting it. "Dude, that's so awesome. You are going to pwn face in 5's. Good luck getting to 70. Let me know if you have room for me when you make a team."

One last thing from the 49 before he leaves - "sorry, can i b on ur team to?"

Make a formation and drop your totems then hit your Lightning shield and that just looks impressive to these folks. I do that a lot and seem to have more positive comments than not.

The longer I play in BGs, the more random accolades I get from other players in the Battlegroup. Most of them I don't even recognize, but they sure do remember me.
