4 Accounts on 1 comp

Hi guys new here, I have been briefly reading through some threads and this seems a great idea Im so bored of WoW I think this is what I need.

I have a new computer, 2.4gig Quad Core cpu, 4 gig of RAM, 500gig HD, 2x 9800GTX cards, 1000 watt PSU

I was wondering if it is able to run 4 accounts on the 1 pc. Would I need to change some settings, like SLI for example? on or off?

Would the keyboard and mouse on one window do the same on the other 3? I understand for more boxes you need to have a few programs to do this, but is it any different if you do it all on 1 pc?

My sig shows the specs of my Laptop and I 5box just fine with it.

You DO NOT want to enable SLI.

And you will need to use software to send keystrokes to your 'clone' windows. I myself use Keyclone. But there are other options available. You can read up on those on the Wiki

G'afternoon Kalashnikov and welecome to the forums!

your box will easily be able to run 5x wows if you'd like. just make sure to restrain their fps, otherwise they will each try to get 999 fps... kill all fps across all of them. if you turn your details to a middle level, you should be able to easily get 20 fps in the background and 45 fps while in the foreground. experiment to get more (lower details help). also remember to spread them across your cores.. leaving cpu0 with the least load... as it handles the system tasks.

here's a shot of a 4 box'ing setup... 1 monitor... running on an amd 3500+ 2.2GHz single core and an 8800GT OC (i was getting 10/25 easily on 4.. 5/25 when i run 5)

With your setup you could run 5 copies of wow, windowed, full screen.

See with my Quad core I can do 5 accounts? thats perfect cause I wanna get them to 70 and do Heroics? I was interested in 5 shamans.

So for example I open up 5 wows, how do I designate the max fps and can you really get them all on the same screen as below? that looks VERY cool!

also, I must note I am from Australia and play on oceanic realms (US located). My ping is normally around 300. How will 5 accounts affect my ping?

guys how do i set max FPS? and how do I make second window in the main window? I'm trying 2 atm

what are you using?
in keyclone, create a command for each of your wows.. and set the maxfps and maxfpsbk

ok cool I will read through that but I don't want to buy the keyclone/wow accounts just yet, I want to test them with a trial account or two to see if I will lag bad and how many accounts I can have at the same time without lagging

so If I play just my main account I will get roughly 300-400 ping from Australia to the US, what would it be if I was usuing 5 on 1 cable line?

I'm on something crappy like 1.5M/256k and 5 accounts runs fine, my connection becomes a problem when I try and run 10+.
The latency is a bit of an annoyance, your clones will follow at a longer distance during your servers peak hours - but it isn't anything that will ruin your play.

May i ask why you do not want to enable sli? i am about to build a new box and am thinking of using duel sli video cards. any advice

If I'm not mistaken, SLI (and crossfire) offers no benefits in windowed mode. Please correct me if anyone knows...

also, will keyclone allow me to set buttons on my action bars be pressed and let the other 4 toons do the exact same thing?



and, how do I divide the Cpu to make all 5 run and designate processing power?

yes.. when you press a key on one wow, it will be sent to the other wows at the same time. so hitting a 3 will result in your shield popping on your 5 noobie mages at the same time. hitting space will make them all jump at once.

as for 'designate processing power'... i think you're asking if you can specify a different core to run each wow. the answer is yes, if you use keyclone commands.

as for the monitor... no problem, although it might be a bit small to see the alt screens, they would all be workable, just small.

btw, one thought... get an extra monitor (most video cards today have 2 video-out ports for multi-monitors).. and run your main on one, and on the other make a 2x2 configuration for your alts. this would give them much more room and is very workable (this is my current setup)

hey I have 2 9800 GTX cards but the bottom video card does not seem to be working because if I plug the dvi cable into the exact ame slot on the bottom card the monitor has no signal.

But I don't mind all on 1 screen and having the alts in small windows.



But I am going to check my CC today and see if I can afford 4 more copies of WoW then if I can I will purchase a copy of your program, hopefully it is noob friendly cause I'm a noob at computer tech things :p

This should be configurable in your video settings. Right click on your desktop and choose properties. I am more of a Mac guy then a windows guy so maybe someone else can offer more advice but I am fairly sure, if the hardware is all good, that you should be able to configure your second video card there.

ok, I just got all my copies of wow, upgraded and ready to go, I also just bought Keyclone.

So, now...where is that tutorial to make 5 run on 1 pc, the above link isnt working :)

ooo got 2 in so far!!! OMG THIS IS MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok i got all 5 up and running decent frames. at the start they would all react to the mains keystroke but then I did something with the main window and it resized, after that they stopped responding to keystrokes lon the action bars

like id put shield to the third on the bottom and bind it to pagedown (i use arrows) and they all did it but then stopped.

I need to know a macro for all to be invited to group, accept quests.



And will all the clones respond if I set up say 5 mages and have all the action bars the same, so if i click on the action bar the process will be repeated by all? or do I have to bind each action bar to a key? cheers

ok found that macro but I am having problems with Keyclone

I am just doing 3 atm to make this a bit easier as I am starting to learn.

I have region 1,2,3

region 1 gets cpu1 2 gets 2 and 3 gets 3.

I have them at min 20 max 60 and it runs fine

but, The main window which is the largest does not seem to be operating as the main window, the small one in the right corner does. I load them all up at log in screen right, so I have 1 as the big one and 2 & 3 as the small ones on the bottom. I press override to stop typing in all boxes but the main and bottom left stop while the bottom right is typing instead of the main window. Any ideas?

also, it seems the bottom right screen always has the best Frames per secon >:|

also, the macros are not working right

I have only got 'invite toons - accept on the same button and that works.

The assist and follow and cast fireball are not working...

Namzone - Main

Namztwo - Slave

Namzthree - Slave

if you have focus-follows-mouse enabled, then if your mouse hovers over a wow window.. THAT region will become active.. driving its fps up to maxfps and dropping the other windows fps down to maxfpsbk

edit:
also, 20/60 might be high. you want to find the point where all your alts get the maxfpsbk while in the background .. and hit the maxfps when active. anything less means you are pushing your hardware too much and should consider backing down your settings. (using lower details also helps)

Ok I just ticked that now and will start them up to see if it works right. I figured out why I couldnt stop one and the other was typing, it was because I was clicked on that window, I sorted that out now. Only problem left are the macros

The macros are the only tricky thing about this. The rest is easy, the guides will show you how to do it. Still having problems? Just drop a line ;)

ok I have managed to get the assist and focus and target working, and the group invites but not the accepts. This is the only part I need to get it going right save me having to accept all manually, but then again i can just walk up to quest giver, hover over the screen and accept.



Also a Keyclone question, what does cpu1 cpu2 ect mean? I'm thinking it allocates a cpu to each one, I have main window on 3, slave 1+2 on 2, slave 3+4 on 1 and left cpu0 alone? is this good and will it give max power to my main window? cheers

that would be a good partitioning of your cores.
since you have a quad core, you usually want to keep cpu0 untaxed... this is where the system does its processing.
untaxed doesn't mean nothing should be assigned to it... it could have 1 wow... but i wouldn't put 2 on it.

cool it seemed to run really well with 5, I put main at like 45-50 and the slaves at 15-25, is this good?

that'd be personal preference... but yes, that sounds about right... as long as you like it

don't forget to post a screenshot of your crew in the screenshots section when they hit 10 (or 20,30,...)

don't forget system specs, resolution and fps... this helps newbies trying to decide which hardware to get ...
it also gives the rest of us some cool stuff to read over lunch

When I originally set up my multi-boxing rig, I set it up on my wife's machine becuase she has the newer/more powerful computer. The downside of this is that I can't multi-box without shooing her away from her machine. So I was trying to test out my machine by pulling up multiple instances of Wow windowed, and the framerate just tanked, so I figured my machine just couldn't hack it. But from the above it sounds like my test wasn't valid. Is there any way via command line options or some such for me to adjust the frame rates of each instance of wow and make this a true benchmark test? I know how to do it in keyclone, but I only have that registered for my wife's PC atm.
