So do any of you guys arena with success? my plan is to dual box two mages for 2v2 arena. i am thinking with an ability to burn down one player so fast i might end up winning quite often. this is all in theory.
so do any of you guys have luck with arena?
I've seen a 3xwarlock team in the 3vs3 arena.
they ran right through our group:
- mass fear
- each DOT on each one of us,
- sacrificed their voidwalker for the shield
- wait until we die
it was painful for us :(
1 healer can outheal it easy, some kind of dps like warrior can burn them down without a problemQuote:

2x POM with AP would be 10k hp.. then 2x fireblast with be about 2k at the least. then if that doesn't do it.. 2x blastwave.

if you can find a healer that can heal all of that.. that fast in the low 1500s bracket. introduce them to me me then because i want to have his/her babies.
thats close to 12k-13k damage base. No crits even.
2x pom cant be 10k, because base pyro is about 1090, with ap and stuff it is like 2600 x2
pala with scrolls of binding light can actually outheal it with bomb healing :)
tho after some counts I must admit it must be pretty tough when you arent shaman/got no shaman in group.
In my old days at arena with -elem damage talents and grounding totem, and sometimes fire res totem, I was getting like 1800-2000 pyroblasts ;) also one mage had to use fireblast to destroy grounding totem which made some interval between pom pyro launches.
anyways if you are skilled enough and your dps class if good against mages, it is easy to kill 2 mages even 1vs2 since pom pyro mages are crap useless when all c/d's are burned in the start of fight

Now that brings us up to a ballpark 1550 none crit pyrpblast.

2015 base none crit POM AP PYRO from mage 1
4030 Crit POM AP PYRO from mage 2
6050 total damge.. (then mage 2s incinerate ticks.)
(global cool down ticks by)
Now arcane power is still up and both mages Fire blast their target.
fire blast does base 664 to 786.. lets say they both hit for 700dmg.
now remember.. Arcane power is still up.. so that 700dmg goes to 910 for one mage.
Both mages hit for
1820.. None crit.. doing a total damage of
7870
Now both mages do blase wave.. which does a base damage of 616 to 724.. but Arcane power is still up yet. as it lasts for 15 secs and this all would take less then 4.
blase wave hits for 1820 Yet again... None crit.
total damage done 9690...
whats this? the enemy finally tries to heal? Nope.. Imp counter spell Slicened for 3 seconds..
then a few arcane expulsions finish the job off.
no man you said "2x POM with AP would be 10k hp" thats different from pom pyro+fblast+blastwave
dont forget good pvper has over 300 resilience, good luck with crit
then dont forget that if skilled healer sees 2 mages, he will cast heal BEFORE you throw all your arsenal
then dont forget there are talents and stuff to reduce effect or +resist to silence
then dont forget there are things like grounding totem
then dont forget there are things like charge and intimidating shout and other kind of cc
then dont forget there are things like LOS
then dont forget healers have some tricks, like priest has renew and shield and insta fear, druid has HoTs and insta heals and cyclone, good paladin has bubble and scrolls of blinding light (~1.5 sec holy light cast, 100% crit chance - 7k heal), shammy has all kind of totems and earth shield
so your 2 mages can easily be outplayed. Been there done that.
P.S. yes I know mages have invis
P.S.S. ~2000 rating 2x2, 1940 3x3 and 1970 5x5 so I kinda know what am I talking about

If those against the mages are skilled enough, they might outplay them and survive their burst. If so, mages are doomed, so-called "cooldown whores" :)
This may work in the lower ratings but 2 people will have no problems taking down 1.
As for the PoM/Pyro thing, I easily counter it on my pally by bubbling. when you get to 1800+ rating, gl pom/pyroing anyone. :wink:
