I feel constantly underequipped

Hi everybody,

I have started my 5-druids a few weeks ago, and since I can only play like 5 or 6 hours a week I think I am doing ok with being nearly lvl30 by now. I have gone through the macro and UI problems, that all of us seem to have in the beginning (which I am expecting to recur when I start to PVP). I am leveling by questing most of the time, only interrupted by some runs through the wailing caverns.

But enough Blah-blah, let me ask you, what I want to know from you guys:
Do you (or did you) feel constantly underequipped while levelling?

Since I play druids, it is even worse. I level them with a balance spec, there is no +spelldmg-leather and I do not want to equip them with cloth.

The only time, when they were running around with slightly better equip was after our instance runs (I was able to equip my main with the set, and the toons got parts of it).


And pleeeese respond, I hate to open topics which don't get responses ;-)

PS: My natice language is German, we say "Blah-Blah" as a replacement for "talking a lot of stuff that may as well be skipped". What is the English pendent?

PPS: I feel like I am getting schizophrenic. Not only can my toons switch between multiple animal and humanoid forms, when speaking about 5-Boxing I use "we" and "us" as often as "I" and "me". Am I one bear and four cats or are we all Moonkins? "I are a bear". "No, I am not. We are a moonkin!". "Muahahaa". WHERE IS MY MEDICINE?

At low levels, the only available spell damage gear is cloth and even at 40+ the best you'll find is sporadic leather but still mainly cloth.

You end up usually relying on burst to get through anything, not really tanking anything :(

Crayon's right. Cloth is going to be your best bet for damage via spells. You'll find the most int and damage on them. Some sparatic pieces of leather...but that's it.

Yep, I agree with both of them ^^. Right now, 99% of my armor is cloth with some leather. I wouldn't worry about it at low levels, as for me, I'm level 51 (almost 52) and my lack of mail hasn't held me back a bit.

Because I put the level in the graphic, I just make a new sig whenever I need to change it LOL -- 'Cause I keep forgetting to save the PSD :)

I change my sig more than I change my underwear. Well no, not really, that's just gross.

Most shaman Players are wearing cloth for the Spelldmg thingy, and that's no problem cuase of aggro changes (through spell penetration) so no one is realy tanking, I don't know how it looks @ the bosses cause I got no shamy team, but I guess I start one xD...

I have cloth shaman and my druids will be clothed up too.

Don't worry about being undergeared. I leveled my first toon on instance blues and it took me forever getting all the best stuff from every instance. Since then I just wear what I have and get on with the business of leveling. It's soooooo much quicker.

Do to the poor spell damage leather and mail pre 60, I went enhancement on all 5 of my shamen... We are currently at 49. Id be 60 by now but i took a week off to enjoy shaman pvp... I got to say.. Its hot man. If melee get close POW storm strike x5 to the face, and if windfury procs, well ;) . It took me a bit of practice to get used to a 5 box melee set up, but once I did It was fun.

Don't worry about being under geared, ^^ Lvl 62 Hunters with the lvl 18 Blue Shoulders from WC Serpent Shoulders. 18 Agi is still nice.

It has been awhile since I've leveled a druid (version 1.x days), but I felt the same thing. I don't think I felt powerful until I got a couple of good pieces of leather from molten core (and some pieces of cloth). It always seemed like whatever armor /spec I lacked was the specific role being called for.

After awhile I gave up and switched over to a mage and a warlock.

On the plus side, you don't have to worry about your group complaining when you roll on any piece of gear.

I had Wailing Caverns and Uldaman gear when I entered the outlands. It was quickly replaced after a few quests and a visit to the auction house.

That's how I see it, though my situation is different (PLing toons with a level 70 main). It is funny though, when my characters are level 56 with level 56 blues that few players would've had before hitting 60 (prior to tBC), while also wearing level 30 greens in other slots. :p

I plan to get them to 60 in the old world instances, then do the early hellfire/zangarmarsh quests for gear upgrades, then instance until I drop.

And I don't plan to drop until 70!

With casters, best gear at low lvls is always cloth. I never feel undergeared on Druids/shammy/etc. some of time I do not repair. some times i run instance completly broken. gear has little meaning for pve , now if you want to pvp with grp then thats whole new ball game. gear has to change so much at low lvls i never pay any mind to it. at 50 I start to build on gear to get ready for outland. Tank and main healer are then geared , rest as it comes

For pvp give up some one will always out gear you

What you're experiencing is the fact that many specs are not itemized well in the old world. You will find more gear for a feral druid than for a boomkin, that's just the way it is.

Cozi already told me, that he was running around with cloth, but I simply
did not dare to do so. But since all of you seem to agree I will change
my toon's wardrobe. I will not force it, just take what quests and drops
offer.
