Best pure "gold farming" comp/content?

I'm wracking my brain figuring out what comps i want to run to farm gold. I'm in a very high end retail PvE guild that's rolling classic at launch, so we will be expected to come with consumables/farm gold for expensive pre-raid bis like Lionheart helm etc.

My main will be a Warrior... but i was going to level that no life style with some guildies and then level my 5box team when i have downtime from farming pre-raid bis.

I haven't multiboxed on private servers (Just Legion/BFA) so i have no real idea at what the best gold making strategy is for us boxers. I know that we should have professions maxed out for stuff like transmutes etc.. but i was wondering what the best "farming" method is?

I had a plan to level 4 warlocks and 1 priest, as i think this will be the clearcut winner when it comes to farming outdoor content for cloth etc... but i don't think it would be great for anything other than that.

I know tribute runs are great for 1 toon if you can solo them, but i assume it doesn't scale well with 5 toons? Correct me if I'm wrong.

DM Jump runs are normally done with 2 or 3 players, so they would be a good use of multiboxing, but generally speaking I think the #1 method right now is farming strat live for righteous orbs and other BoEs.

Also if you are going to have a warrior main that is going to be geared, I would recommend setting up a comp including him, since his gear will for sure make the farming easier.

My plan is to level warrior/warrior/warrior/priest/paladin together, and then use that team for BIS and Gold farming.

Obviously you want to take advantage of transmutes as well.

Prob the best way to make money as a mboxer is going to be transmuting arcanite and mooncloth. Once you have a level 60, warrior or mage ideally, you can boost groups of 4 to level 35 in probably around 18 hours played. Fill up your account slots, PL enchanting and tailoring up, and then cycle those transmutes on CD. if you put in the ground work, you will be Pablo Escobar E-rich in no time.

Early in a server economy refined deep rock salt is actually quite expensive. It is needed for one of the two devilsaur pieces and is a 3 day cooldown for leatherworkers. Once Dire Maul patch is released in p2 it is also used for hide of the wild. The price of the salt drops off after that point and then picks up again when naxx comes out, but you can get a stock pile and drop the profession towards phase 3 if you like.

By some definition of "in no time" :-)
(Also PL professions is expensive (and takes some time as well))

Dungeon gold god mode: 4x warr 1x sham.
World farm: any multidot class/setup
Afk mode: 5x alchemy/5x taloring paired with 5x setups for massive gold.

Boost mode dungeon: 4x shaman.

boost mode? beast mode u mean? if not that then pls explain ;)

Boost mode as in boosting other people. The warr 4x/1x sham is better only if full setup hence 4x sham for boosting since it can match any yetup(ele/resto hybrid mana optimized)

I don't think there's any consensus yet as to what is the best gold / hour for a boxer - and I guess it will be hard to tell until the economy is stable.

If you're good at it, most likely flipping / playing the AH will be the best use of your time and can be done at the same time as you're running instances.

Peregrine mentioned profession cooldowns, which has historically been nice for boxers, but keep in mind the initial cost of getting your tradeskills to that level, along with the time required to skill up and have multiple teams levelled and up.

My guess would be that the apart from playing the AH and cooldowns, the best gold/hour you can get as a boxer, would be farming something that is more efficient to do in a group. Such as Righteous Orb runs, Dire Maul runs (in phase 2), BoE/cloth/gold runs in instances etc. But it will depend on what the price levels are on the auction house.

There seems to be a lot of interest in the 4 x warrior + healer / , which would synergize well with your choice of main. You could also go with a spell-cleave setup and have your warrior as puller.

hey how can i boost my alts fast with a 60 main?

hey guys, im going to have access to three accounts when classic launches.

I was thinking of ways to farm gold. Some questions:

1.) Banging out a handful of alts
- Which profressions are best in phase 1 considering ease of leveling and payoff
- Does profession profitability change by phase?

2.) Parking groups of alts at various farms
- Mauradon is the classic for solo hunters/warlocks, are there any new/better farms that open up with the possibility of 3 boxed characters?
- Which instances and what composition (e.g. 2 hunters, druid) and why? I was considering sunken temple for example
- Might this also change by phase?

Also would you guys indulge me and brainstorm a few ideas?

What composition would be best for various gold farms
- E.g. sunken temple with 3 characters: 2 warriors 1 paladin? 2 hunters 1 druid?
- Why or why not? e.g. Ease of leveling and gearing the farming character, speed and ease with which the comp clears the farm?

I was considering 2 warriors 1 paladin, 2 mages 1 priest, 2 hunters 1 paladin

is 3 man farming strat live for orbs feasible? what comp? 2 hunters and a druid?

Hi and thank you for the great info, could you please elaborate a bit on the AFK mode method or redirect me to a guide? I don't quite understand what you mean. I 10-box gather on retail to feed my main but it feels like Classic really limits me to 5-box if I want to farm gold efficiently so any input on gold making with over 5 accounts would be a big help and much appreciated! I don't know that Mooncloth will be in Phase 1 or useful. Mooncloth Gear Recipes are from Dire Maul, which doesn't open til Phase 2 right? I haven't seen anyone confirm that the recipe is in Phase 1 with Qia, and I'm not sure Mooncloth is even useful until Dire Maul.

Wowhead says the bag Recipe drops off Lethon....He's Phase 4....so no mooncloth bags until Phase 4:( I hope I'm wrong, but all data points to Mooncloth being useless for quite a while.

I assume Mooncloth is in phase 1 since Truefaith Vestments was changed in 1.3 to not be soulbound so must have been added before that.

In 1.3 Mooncloth Bag was also changed to uncommon quality, so I assume they would also exist in phase 1.
I think Mooncloth Bag recipe is a world drop (classicdb and normal wowhead shows it as a world drop).

What does the "paired with 5x setups" allude to?

I understand the leveraging of the long cooldown on the alchemy and tailoring but don't understand the setups reference.

I think he means 5 teams with 5 characters in each - so 25xalchemy cooldowns and 25xtailoring cooldowns

Ah OK. I was assuming 8-9 teams :eek: (still having room for a main team and an alternate team)

Bit of a sidenote... i copied this strat at lvl 60 and it was a lot of fun. Took a lot of time to get the gear and the trinket, which procs a shield, makes you basically unkillable, with all the mobs hitting you. Worth a shot if you plan to play solo :p

Now that movie was Classic (pun intended)!

IIRC that shield is mainly good for lower level mobs and was great on my 49 Twink Paladin (especially when going Ret with Truesilver Champion).

I am interested in the answer to this also and whether it is really possible to efficiently boost a group from level 1 to 35+ with a high level main (like a capped level 60 main) of any class.

I have 6 accounts currently and one thought I had was using a main on the 6th account like a "guard" to boost the other 5 accounts... In essence find a good grinding spots with fast respawning mobs and have the 5box group tag and AoE/dot/wand/etc and then maybe the main kills the mob(s) when they hit >49% health.

Alternatively have the 5box channeling AoE dropping health and & have the 6th main outside the party doing AoE heals on them to keep them going.

There was some discussion about somehow pulling a bunch of mobs to the front of an instance and somehow having a main help the group but I don't remember the specifics right now.

If none of the above pan out my fall back plan is for my 5box group of 5 Warlocks+Priest to just dot/wand with pets in a grinding area (maybe trying to leverage the 5 second regen rule). Hopefully with some responses some more clarity on efficient boosting methods is attained before my focus returns to my non-main groups.

Back in the day my buddy would run all the way to the final boss of an instance and the drag the whole dungeon to the entrance where I would wait and then he'd kill them all.

Since I'm on Horde, I'm thinking on Druids, coz I want to make them all Tailoring/Alchemy for passive gold income (Mooncloth + Arcanite) and to craft Mooncloth you need to access a Moonwell + Mail to send after. On Horde only Druids have easy access to that (Moonglade Portal + Hearthstone) without losing access to the bank to also use them as Bank Alts.

I don't know if it was "best" but it sure leveled me pretty quickly. It was especially quick in Scarlet Monestary. :D

Correct answer for best boost class is Frost DK :). However, since we don't have those, mage or warrior is good. Mage is better early on, warrior will carry your group further. This means, for level 35, mage is probably best bet. If you want to push past 35, a 60 gear warrior will be solid well into the 40's where a mage will start to struggle a bit.
