This was near the beginning of the article:
I just don't understand that. I have been 5 and 10 boxing for over 11 years now and I have never, I repeat never, been banned ever. I know I have been reported several times, had people whisper me such all the time. But its never been a problem.Quote:
I've been banned many many many times for "botting"
They mention all but the last of their bans was overturned, so I shouldn't hold the previous bans against him. But it seems like hes really pushing the line or something.
10 year on this forum - 8 account = 0 ban.
Only ones has my team been teleported around, and 2 time contacted by a GM ingames in all this years.
I echo this sentiment. It seems odd to be falsely flagged so many times, but they do say they've all been overturned, so... /shrug
For all we know, they could be lying or exaggerating about that too, especially since we don't know this person and we have no idea what's happened up to this point—none of us possibly could. So, while it could be a "scary" story, it could also be a misleading story meant to gain unwarranted sympathy in an attempt to get people to rally and harass Blizzard, just so a legitimate ban could be challenged.
I mean... this person on reddit could be similar to this.
Whoa, whoa, whoa... Account creation date shows as June of '08. Don't be jumpin' the 10-year gun just yet. :)
Myself included, though... I've been multiboxing, off and on, for almost 9 years now, and I've gone through multiple "slave" accounts during that time because RaF is was just too good to pass up. However, I don't think I've ever been teleported around, although sometimes when I lose follow on a single character I question whether or not a GM is f'ing with me.
Yeah I'm actually not sure how long I've been multiboxing so mine might a bit of a stretch. I only said 11 years instead of saying BC which is when I started and that came out 11 years ago. Though I started with keyclone my forum start date should be pretty close.
Shoulda been in discord when the person in question was trying to plead their case.
Hmmm... interesting. I mean, that a GM might be checking out / doing tests on your account(s) there and then. When you mean teleport around, is it just say within 100 yards, or have anyone experienced beeing sent far away, like to the other side of the zone you are in, or even to a city?
I said earlier i have let blizzard in the know of my farming rutines. But would be a shame if some new GM is investigating me while im killing mobs over and over pressing 1 button while i lie in bed watching a movie.
I only come back and watch my monitors like once every 45 min when i farm. I included macros in the key remapping so any grey or green items get deleted, so i only keep the items im after.
And if he did try to contact me, i wouldnt be able to see it: (unless he does it on my main character screen, i see that window from bed).
I had my Text2Speech reader go through that post and play through my Logitech Business Speak detector. While I know it was not strictly business speak, it did detect a lot of Business Speak.
The /dnd chat command might help if a GM ever tries to contact you to see if you are a real person, it allows adding a message that is sent back to the person whispering you. This is what I use:
/dnd I am multiboxing, please send tells to my main CharacterName-ServerName
Jamba does have whisper forwarding, which would be a better option if you already have that addon installed.
Personally I would never be away from my main while farming, I think thats too risky. If you're watching a movie find someway to do it from your computer chair.
If this is even half true, I'm surprised you have any accounts left at all.

Never been banned for "botting" in over 10 years of multiboxing WoW but I don't farm much of anything. Never have as it bores me.
Accidentally merged two posts I didn't mean to. First reply is Jabberie; second reply is MadMilitia.
Apologies.

I did speak to a GM earlier today, just to make sure that they have full knowledge of my complete setup, key remapping etc that i use. When i press a key and hold it down, it only produce 1 action. And thats it. No spamming is happening. The GM said it was fine and they know im a "sofa" player at times. And they will only contact me via the game window ive told to them that im able to see.
But i hear you, it could potensially cause issue down the line. One of my grafixcard has another output and i ordered a cheap 24 inch. I plan to duplicate the signal from my main window to it. So i can see it from the sofa. As a "backup".
I was farming several months ago and got an onscreen prompt asking if I was a bot. I only have one 1080p monitor, so I box with stacked windows. If the prompt had come up on one of my secondary windows I wouldn't have seen it.
The worst thing that happend to my guild mates in wotlk or cata was getting teleportet out of stormwind because they camped the auction house for too long
personally I've never encountered trouble regarding multiboxing, I dont understand the GM tbh because even if you dont use the jamba whisper forwarding, he should clearly see which of your toons is the leader otherwise he doesnt do his job very well.
If you managed to implement this into Jamba, and if possible with the ability to add a custom sound...im sure that would be awesome...imagine the ability to mute all other sounds to like 0 to 5% and have a "siren" go off at very loud volume, if a GM contacts you. /its allowed to dream.
Edit: if that isnt possible, maybe its possible to add custom sound and volume when you get a regular ingame /whisper? I tried the addon named "i can hear you whisper", but it doesnt work 100% of the time.
Edit 2: also, if possible make it so that there isnt only one sound..need to be an option so that the alarm goes off without stop untill you (ideally) has confirmed a prompt on the screen with the mouse or maybe started to reply the /w... or have the ability to create a looooong custom sound.
Or you know, you could stop essentially botting

Tbh, i got the reply from the GM ingame like maybe 15 min after i made the webticket.
The promptwindow, that stated that the GM wanted to talk to me, was very small and thin and located just above the chatwindow on the left side. If was about the size of "the thin area that you can type in". So its very small. If i was just sitting in front of the monitor and watched a suspencefull movie, i probably wouldnt notice that he wanted to talk to me in quite some time.
Therefore, any help would be great, f.ex a addon that would make a loud custom noise.
how many times do i need to say this?
A GM whisper is not a normal whisper and it locked down to stop players "faking" being a GM there is noway for me to forward it. as it uses a "Secure Chat".
what i might be able to do is when the popup shows it does the warning - There for you be able to use whatever Jamba warning's API offer.
I think this thread has run it's course.
