5x Protection Paladin all 110 Normal Dungeons complete

So I just finished the last Normal dungeon I needed to unlock my class set pants from the Order Hall. Most of the 8 Normal dungeons were very easy with the 5x Paladin team. Overall, I probably wiped on 4 bosses total, and only 1 boss took me more than two attempts. Cordana, the final boss in Vault of the Wardens was a HUGE pain in the ass. Had to do a ton of research on her, and I still feel like I just barely scraped by. Other than that, Normals were a piece of cake. Now to grind gear and world quests until I can unlock Heroics!

That's a very interesting idea :)
I think I'll change all my palas to prot and give it a go.
With 3 rets, holy and prot I'm having a hard time in dungeons.
Mostly I feel like holy's heals are too slow and too small. (but that is probably an issue on my side since I don't use the heal that damages the healer which should be quite good)

I wonder if I should try the druids as 5 bears :)

My bear holds agro great.. hard to kill BUT DPS sucks so far. My prot paly is doing twice the dps of my rets at level 100 in invasion gear ( 700ish item level ). I hear blood DKs are grazy dps as well.

@karlros can you post your talents and macro/isboxer set up for your Prots?

Certainly. I can give you more details when I get home from work. I'll just say right now that Hand of the Protector is rediculously broken. If they nerf it, or Prot Pally DPS, this team won't be nearly as good.

I have to agree on 5 prots right now, they are crazy good.
Would love to see some footage of you smashing instances :D

I really hope they don't nerf things. These guys haven't felt this...right since WotLK. Nowhere near invincible but they're very enjoyable through 105 so far. (I haven't set foot in an instance yet.)

Did a few normal runs yesterday (I plan to finish the rest today) and it was really fun.

got my pally prot team to 110 today. so gonna try normals tonight.. :)

All normals done (some more than once, thanks to JC quests) with 5 prots.
Big difference after finishing class order campaign. Third relic slot is very nice to have :)

Just finished my first Heroic with the 5x Prot team. Darkheart Thicket. Was very simple, no change in strategy. I just had to be much more proactive with my heals and defensive cooldowns. The only time I wiped was on trash mobs when I pulled too many. All bosses killed on first try. Gear is item level 825, though, so not a huge upgrade.

Just finished DHT heroic as well.
Piss easy.
Most of the time I wasn't even watching the screen, just spamming DPS key and watching netflix. Even during boss fights. Once character died on second boss, after the boss died.

What ilvl/talents did you guys have for normals? I had some success in one dungeon yesterday (realised too late that not all of them had the faster self heal so that would have slowed me down)

For some reason Violet Hold is causing me problems, even just the portal protectors

are my talents. I should probably switch ret aura to spellwarding and judgement of light to consecrated ground on at least 4 of the paladins (consecration stacks, JoL doesn't).
ilvl was around 800-810.
In VH you should really kite the protectors away from their ground AOE. it hurts a lot.

wow i thought for sure you would have Righteous Protector..it allows you to use LoP or HoP more often.

From what I'm seeing n PvE, Ret Paladins hit like a wet noodle at the moment. You need a lot of haste to bring up their damage on single target, and even then it's laughable compared to something like a DH, Hunter, or Rogue. I'm playing one solo and at ~840 iLvl I can't keep up with anyone else with a comparable iLvl unless it's a huge pull where I can AoE like crazy, or I'm in a group without any of the above classes.

Simulations show Ret doing alright, but that's in full tier gear from what I understand, and nobody has any of that at the moment. I can't imagine what they feel like multiboxing right now in current-expansion normal/heroic dungeons, and, for now, I'd suggest Prot all the way.

Thanks guys, my gear was a bit low but with a bit of tweaking I'm rolling through normals now. The gear world quests really help out.

Having the talent to make the heal castable on anyone is great, you can heal up the agro'd tank to save long cooldowns

Just hit 104 with my prots.. wish I had started them first. I have a team of druids at 110..but have not been able to clear a dungon with them..way squishy! Im also solo leveling a DH..he has been a blast! Im not sure if i will level the other 4 DHs or not, playing one solo is a lot of fun!

Cleared Violet hold yesterday. and its wasnt so hard. went way better with theese talents. 2.3.3.3.2.3.3 blessed hammer reduced damage alot.
consecration healed enough for small groups..

i don't really trust blizzard will keep them this good for long, so thats whats putting me off leveling palas them right now.


Atm i don;t know what am going to do.

I just don't have it in me to level another team.

The questing was fun, just all that order hall and the solo scenario stuff, ugh. Going to just stick with the one team for now.

I don't see how Cavalier and Knight Templar are better than Spellwarding and HotP.
Sure, you can chain with two charges, but it's a 20% dmg reduction, vs a crazy strong heal that you can cast on other chars instead of only on yourself and a total immunity to magic damage.

Did heroic Maw of Souls on my team, they're just barely 810ilvl with no third relic. Not too many problems, only need to watch out for the champion trash's fear.

For extra smoothness I did a round robin with taunting so nobody takes too much single target damage, really helps if your gear isn't the best and keeps the heals even

yeah. heroics aren't really a challenge, when you get the third relic slot + some better gear you'll just fly through them.
I noticed that rewards from world quests scale with ilvl which is very nice, getting some 840-850 items now just by doing world quests :)

They just said in the class balance update they will be nerfing tank damage across the board. The self heal seems safe so far.

Will have to see how severe it is, if it's bad was thinking of switching a few to Ret and talent/artifacting them towards surviving - 20 sec forbearance, 2.5 min divine shield etc. then marrying them up with blessing of sacrifice on the Prots. On top of that there's 5x Blessing of Protection, 5xLay on Hands and the prots will be able to cast Hand of Protector on the rets if needed

Damage nerf isn't too bad but they (will) hit the self-heal too. Was good while it lasted :p

it's not really that bad. all it means is we'll need a bit higher ilvl. nothing was changed mechanically, so all good.
