With the new WoW gold tokens, I am very keen to find out how to make gold with a 5xmulti box team. There are numerous guides out there and almost universally they are outdated or otherwise invalid.
So please share any still valid ideas you have to make gold as a multi-boxer or just in general. Even better if they can be done by a new player (as I am).

Hi, thanks for the advice but I am not sure where you are getting these numbers from. I have tried running a few Cata. instances and making a fraction of this. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, please would you provide a slightly more detailed breakdonw of which instances and loot give these types of reward? In my experience, anything that can be farmed easily is rapidly nerfed.

Now, if your team has good enough PVE gear and a viable set up, farming BoEs from trash still seems like a very good choise in both Highmaul and BRF. Depending on which mode you can manage, the drops can get you anywhere from 3-4k to 200k+. This info is based on Deimonics' success running his 8-box there. I did do two runs with him and got a BRF normal item that sold for about 10k.
Any instances you can suggest for the fainter of heart among us? Running 25 man heroics with my gear doesnt SEEM feasible.
Do you get 125 per player in the group or do you need to run these raids multiple times once on each toon to get those numbers?
If they're level 100, just go and give them a spin. There are some fights that'll give you trouble, but if you're 5-boxing, you're bringing a lot of power to the table even in greens and you'll be able to steamroll most of them without any issues whatsoever. Ever since the item squish there's a mechanism in place which increases your damage output and lowers your damage taken in relation to mobs from expansions prior to Mists of Pandaria. The lower the expansion number, the stronger this effect will be.
For some time now, the amount of gold raid and dungeon bosses drop is multiplied by the number of party/raid members present for the kill. E.g. if a boss drops 10g when you solo it, it'll drop 50g for a party of five, so each character still gets 10g from the kill. The only thing you end up splitting is the actual loot that drops.
So yes, technically you earn a little more if you'd run them five separate times with a single character because you'd have five times the loot, but you'd have to spend a lot more time and effort on it. And more importantly (in my opinion anyway): it would defeat the point (and fun) of multiboxing.
Yes, just a small addition to the info given. I ran them in heirlooms and steam rolled the content. Also with the release of Tanaan Jungle it is incredibly easy to take your 3-4-5man+ team there killing elites and if you have a Warmill/Drawf Bunker it will increase your chance for the Baleful loot drops to be EPIC upon creation. So I now have a few teams all sitting close to 670 ilvl with very minimum effort.
A lot of folks just watchin Awe as I move thru the Elite demon KJ mountain with my 5man hunter team pulling everything I can and downing it as I go. It actually makes a decent lil big of coin in the time I am there as well. May need to look into how much I am actually getting. *If I cant equip it I vendor it all.

I'd suggest building a Frostwall Tavern(Followers with the Treasure Hunter trait / Followers with the Scavenger trait which gives extra resources from missions + Treasure hunter missions from tier 3 tavern, treasure hunter missions are the gold missions that can give upwards of 3k or 4k from the Blingtron's Secret Vault which is a rare mission, you usually get anywhere from 200g - 900g easy.
I'd also suggest the Trading post for spending garrison resources when the items such as dust, ore, leather / fur and herbs are 5 GR per 5, another good idea is to build the Barracks and upgrade to tier 3 so your follower limit is 25.
If you have a lot of followers with epic mounts i'd also build a Salvage Yard for boxes, open those maybe once a week since you can make upwards of 1k from vendoring alot of the greens and disenchanting blues(the class specific transmog gear from them, good amount of Draenic Dust from them since they vendor for only 3-5g or so).
Also look into gearing your character's to ilvl 675 and raising your follower ilvl as much as possible(645 atleast with the follower upgrade tokens from the vendor inside your garrison town hall, they cost 500g each but are worth it with the new missions that get unlocked), getting your character to ilvl 675 is known to 'unlock' the new 675 missions that reward the Heirloom trinket / Medallions of the Legion / Champion's Honor / Elixir of the Rapid Minds / and the garrison resources + oil caches that you can use etc, also the Cinder Pup and Burning Blade toy.
Proffession wise i'd suggest getting maybe Tailoring on a few toons to craft Hexweave Bags every few days even though they seem to be dropping in price, but on my server they sell for a easy 1500g, and with a Tailoring Building + the Proffession i seem to make them every 3 days or so.
Also make sure to run ATLEAST H Cata 25 raids every week, such as Bastion of Twilight, Blackwing Descent, Firelands, Dragon Soul, and Throne of the Four Winds(Not suggested imo since you only make like 400-500g from it compared to 1k - 2k from the others) You can make a MINIMUM of 6k from running all of them except ToT4W. Also make sure you kill Kazzak weekly with Felblights being 200g or so per, and a guaranteed drop from Kazzak.
Just a few suggestions and methods i use on my 11 level 100s to get enough gold for tokens, with running H 25 Cata raids i can make a easy 66k weekly and Kazzak kills yields roughly 20-25k from Felblights depending on the amount he drops for my alts. Not to mention 9 character's having treasure hunter missions which gives about 3-5k from missions on average daily, more depending on rare missions and if i check them twice a day instead of once.
Like most people over here i get the main part of my gold from the 25 man heroic cataclysm raids.
Most bosses are soloable with one character so with 5 characters it really shouldn't be a problem.
I like to bring a couple of boomkins for mass destruction on large packs of mobs (BoT and Firelands), starfall kills thjose of really quick.
Running a 5 man team grants around 15K and a 10 man team around 27K.
Hunters are great just as well, have a tank round the mobs up put them in front of a few hunters and barage them down in a split second.
Optimal use of your garrison will grant you lots of gold a day as well, but it is dependable on your missions and luck i guess.
I just wanted to update this with a very simple plan that i have tested for 3 weeks on my realm ( Whisperwind/Alliance) You have heard this before, but im going to give you an idea of how easy it is for boxers to make gold atm.
So its the barn...yep, still making great gold with my barn. I use three teams of five and make sure my work orders are full everyday. I farm the elite wolves in nagrand ( back side of the fort is best ). Its easier than ever now>> you lay a trap with your lead toon and everyone in the group gets a cage... so no more random amounts of cages in each bag. I just do the wolves because i can get 100+ cages in under an hour on each team, i never run out of wolves ( if i have it to myself, and i do 90% of the time).. so i simply keep the work orders full and deposit the fur and bloods in the guild bank. ( i sell once a week, normally after Tuesday when i get new fellblights ) Selling during the weeks seems to get the best prices in my experiences )
And once a week on my three teams i kill Kaz for the felblights. Those+fur+bloods have netted me 90-127k every week. This week i got 127k because i had excess garrison resources, so i spent them on rush orders for the barn, which got me more than normal amount of fur and bloods.
On my server the wow tokens go for 36kish. In two weeks i pay for a month of subs and have plenty of gold to spare. Since this is so simple and reliable ( so far ) its all i do.. i dont do any dailies..i dont kill and rares, ect...if you do all that as well, im sure you could get 200k+ a week.
some tips... Make sure you have a follower working in the barn. Never sell your goods for the lowest price, they WILL sell, go up to a medium price. People like to find one seller who has many stacks ( and you will have MANY stacks ) and just spam click on yours for simplicity sake, even if your not the cheapest stacks on the AH
I can also confirm this to be accurate for EU as well, although it appears that our profits are slightly lower. I run a total of 24 barns currently. I 10-box, but only 8 accounts have access to lvl 3 barns, so as the mathematically gifted among you might surmise, it's 3 teams with 8 toons trapping. It is very quick to get the traps with so many toons. basically one cast and the mobs are ready to be trapped. While pulling more the main problem is being able to trap fast enough without killing them. I do my trapping every 3-4 days or so.
Currently this is yielding around 6500 Fur and 624 Savage bloods from one set of work orders, and on my realm's current prices that is the equivalent of around 65k about twice a week, or 130k per week. On top of it, I'll do my weekly kills of Kazzak on all 30, meaning around 300 Felblight (around 24k) and occasionally kill the token rares in Tanaan Jungle on a single team when I'm bored at home. I average about 4-5 tokens from killing all four, or around 17-22k. I would say I do that maybe 2-3 times a week, so that is anywhere from 34k to 66k on average.
I do run Cata heroics still, but they tend to get a bit tedious so I occasionally skip out on them on some teams. Especially since I've now hit the token cap (qq blizz fix pls) and can only use gold to pay for 2 of the accounts. I should always do them since with a 10-box it's an easy 35k per team, but I don't want to play the game just to grind.
Oh and one more thing to note:
The Eye of Observation could still be good profit on some realms. It's a pet that drops from a world mob that takes 5 characters to activate. Easy enough to kill, but the unlocking and low-ish drop rate give us a slight advantage on it. I've sold numerous copies of the pet at 7-8k each. The mob is lootable once per day.
My server (Chamber of Aspects eu) is dead and has been flagged for new players.. nothing sells. I need to find another server.
Alrighty! I have added up how much gold I made this week with my raid routine. Total for the week - 23,280g. Breakdown below.
Took roughly two hours to clear these instances with a 5x hunter team. Vendored pretty much everything. Each instance took around 20-30 minutes to complete - including travel time.
T4W 25m Heroic full clear - (Doing this for the mount.)
250g x 5 from bosses + ~130 from drops

600g x 5 from bosses + 600g from drops.

Still making 100k+ a week from Barns and felblights. I have 4 teams this week.. i just checked my mail and had 76K and only sold half my stuff so far. It will be a 150K week im guessing. I also have two of the mounts to sell, so far, from the holiday dailies. They are selling for 50K right now.. im going to wait until after the wintervale dailies are gone to sell mine.
What do you need that much for? Sitting at around 100k, got bored and stopped farming it.

If you want to pay for game time with ingame tokens, chances are there is a more effective way than to just farm/craft on your own realm.
My main realm is Kazzak-Eu, one of biggest pve servers out there. I've a fairly nice pile of gold here. Champion's honor goes typicall between 10 and 15k, a couple of weeks ago they were even as low as 8k. Temporal crystal have been selling anywhere from 50 to 80g per. Checked a couple of other big realms, and the prices fluctuate a lot. On Outland-Eu the champion's honor badges are in big demand and go for 20-25k, with spikes to 30k. Temporal crystals go for near 200g per here. Bought what I could with my gold on kazzak, transferred a low lvl over to outland and doubled my gold pretty much that I was gonna spend on tokens (since they are the same price on every realm in your zone).
So for spending 1x 20 euro I got nearly 40 months of play time for free.
So I'm sitting on about 6 million gold at the moment. I don't do dailies and I don't grind old dungeons for gold.
I buy cheap herbs off the AH (less than a gold each) and use it on a few scribes (I think I have 6 scribes) to make stacks of ink. Once a month I make omen cards in bulk and flip them. I flip something like 10-15k cards and gross 50k+ gold. Flipping is tedious but doing it on 5 toons while watching tv or something isn't as bad.
With the help of some garrison addons (Garrison Mission Manager and Master Plan) and an inn I recruited many followers with scavenging and they bring all the resources to the yard. With a trading post, I use those resources to get any materials I need to keep all the level 3 crafting huts on all my toons going.
I run a couple of barns but I could do more. I'm often lazy and couldn't be bothered to go out and trap wolves half the time. I trade in primal spirits for bloods. I roll the blood as well as the piles of felblight I get from Kazzak into upgrade tokens. I use an alchemist to transmute the sorc elements into whatever I need, it's generated in bulk by my various profession huts working non-stop.
I easily do 100-200k of upgrade tokens a week. This will dry up eventually, though maybe not, as people will want to upgrade items for the new transmog system in the future.
I have a ton of tailors to put all that barn fur to work with, I have the capability to whip up a hexweavebagocalypse and completely crash that market if I felt like it. Instead I list a few bags here and there and have outfitted all of my teams with all hexweave bags. I also have friends who I buy fur and other resources from if I'm too lazy to do my barns (because I'd rather give my gold to friends than strangers).
I periodically gather 20 stacks of crit/haste/mastery/multistrike green quality gems and turn them into blue ones with my JCs and list them on the AH in small quantities. If the prices go too low you don't have to list. Just wait for it to go back up again. Tues/Wed/Thur nights are the best time to post this.
I've got 33 of my ever-increasing arsenal (I'm transitioning from 3box to 5box atm) of 100s sitting at 675 ilevel with a majority of their followers also at 675.
I've accomplished this via War Mills/salvage yards (for followers) and doing premade Ashran or other such tomfoolery (baleful + apexis shards, LFR, whatever). A couple thousand honor gets you some nice 700+ ilevel gear, it doesn't take long to reach 675. (With the premade group I run with, there's a lot of comradery and it's generally not an intolerable ragefest.)
Why 675? In a recent patch they added special missions available once per week.

Some of the rewards aren't worth that much anymore, like the pets and the toy, but others still sell for some (Ogre cache, rep token, mount, 300% xp potion) while others sell for a nice amount (the honor/conq token sells for ~15kish on my server). The setup takes a little effort, but on a good week you're bringing in a few hundred thousand gold for clicking a button.
I go through my salvage crates on toons once or twice a month and take anything that is lower than level 60 and sells for more than 100g on my server and throw it on the AH and vend almost everything else (there are a few exceptions, the transmog market on my server is really fubar or I'd make much more).
For prices, crafting, and auctioning, I'm rocking Trade Skill Master 3 with the external app. The app downloads my AH signatures regularly so I don't need to scan, I always know how much things are worth, and I have queues set up so one the one or two visits to each toon per week I quickly get their crafting done. I'd suggest hitting up Stormspire and watching some tutorials. TSM is a bit weird to set up but once you've got everything set up and you get used to it, it's quite smooth.
Don't undercut too much, a silver or two is fine and won't tank the market. Do 2-3 ah reposts per day, I do one in the morning, one when I get home from class, and one before bed. Be patient, it will often sell for your asking price, you just have to wait for it.
You may want to look at old crafting patterns and see if anyone is listing the items and how much they're selling for. If there's something that isn't listed very often, you might want to try making one. For a while I was selling Bloodvine Lenses for 12k gold. I was also selling crafted mail chest and belt (Felstalker) for 11k each, slow moving, but the felstalker chest/belt matches the outfit that Lady Liadrin's little hunter things wear out in Talador and people who want to dress their hunters up in that outfit will buy it. (I get air by farming it with a gas sucker up thing and/or slaughtering elementals up at the throne, and/or transmuting water to air.)
One quirk I've noticed about the AH, at least on my server, is people will buy my Felblight/Savage Blood when I put it on the AH in spite of it being 30-50g more expensive per item than the lowest price. What am I doing? I'm listing my items in stacks of 15. Enchanting crystals? Stacks of 15. People HAAAAATE clicking buy multiple times and it seems like they'll pay substantially more to get their instant gratification now instead of having to click and count.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I noticed the same thing.. i never sell for the lowest price. I sell my bloods in stacks of 50 and have 8+ stacks a week from my 20 barns. They sell out every time. The time investment is less than two hours a week total for 100k+ a week. I only spend more time than that right now because im doing the holiday dailies from the garrison..but i have been making an extra 50K+ from that..plus i have gotten 4 of the mounts and have yet to try and sell them ( i used one for my account ).Quote:

I went from one barn on one toon to level 3 barns on 20 toons last night. The beauty of it is that the Master Trapper (150 work orders at the barn) achievement required to unlock barn level 3 is account-wide, so when you create 5 work orders on 20 toons, that's 100 work orders towards it, and you'll get ~200 just from completing the barn level 1 and barn level 2 intro quests on 4 teams. Pretty easy ramp up relative to almost any other level 3 building. I think I spent about 3k per toon on plans (1k each).Quote:

Just make sure you have skinners assigned to your barns. there are two skinner followers you can get.. one is very easy if its not bugged ( was bugged for my last team ) you kill an npc that drops a key to open a cage for Goldmane. If that is bugged..the only other one that comes with skinning is Hudla Shadowblade. You get her from a quest in Spires for choosing the Brewery outpost ability. It took me about an hour to complete the quest.
Also you might have had some skinner traits assigned to random followers..so check that first.
Yep, I have Goldmane since that one was by far the easiest to obtain. They apparently fixed the bugs with despawning and key drops so he's available 100% now.
A tip if you also use your followers for garrison missions,
Followers cant go on garrison missions if they are assigned to a building, but you dont have to assign a follower when you start the workorders, just has to be there when you collect them, just assign/unassign them only when you collect.
I used to do this but kept forgetting to put the follower in there before i looted the sack.. and i make way more money off my barn than all 5 teams and their missions..so i just keep him in there.Quote:
