Gotta say, the place was fun to box. Got a 20 slot bag out of it too! As far as bosses goes, boss one is easy (SV clone), boss two just require someone with "/target Pure energy" in their DPS macro and healing, boss 3 I had to kill the boss before the adds (amazingly low HP, just likes to heal), and for Kael'thas, include "/target Phoenix" after the /assist in the DPS macros. My set up was Pally tank, Priest healer, Elemental Shaman, Fire Mage, and Boomkin.
Sounds like a lot of fun, I want to try it out :)

i had a crack at it and seemed awfully difficult :S my t4/5 warrior was getting hit harder by trash than any other non heroic 5man going around
Im lucky have have 1 tank and 1 healer friend, otherwise it would be hard to do intances on my own with 3x mages :P
I am really looking forward to the new instance, especially sins its a 5-MAN instance finnally! :D
Thanks for the post fish. I got called in on my priest (single box) to help kill final boss in there and after the fight I was really doubting if he could be 5 boxed. I was going to post this morning to see if anyone had. I'm definitely going to need a significant gear upgrade before trying though. My +1600 healing priest (not a ton I know) had to work reasonably hard to keep everyone going (did lose someone who ran through the bubbles though).
Thanks for this post; I was wiping on Vexallus trying to target the adds with my pally; adding a /target right in their DPS macros made the fight significantly easier. This is probably a better way to go on many other fights too; I just need to remember to change the /target whenever there's a fight that requires killing something first.
The trash does hit pretty hard; you have to be on the ball with CC or grounding totems, and be careful about who you kill first. I found it was best to kill the Sunblade Mage Guards first, to avoid them using their dampening field or glaive-throw stun.
I didnt box the place just did several guildie runs on my resto druid and those boss fights are really fun lol. The last fight was a blast (mostly because I, for the first time ever, could move really fast in treeform lol) It was pretty difficult to heal through on the last fight but didnt lose anyone (around 1400healing) and I got the healer ring to drop our first go around so that was nice combined with the epic gem from the quest. I will ay this though. oh my god was pvp insane, there were piles and piles of skeletons outside the instance lol. Oh and the 5man fight was fun too lol, I really love hectic fights like that. Its basically like an arena fight. your 5man group against their 5man elite group and its a blast. As for difficulty I would say think a hard, non-heroic shadow labs and you would be about dead on. Heroic is kind of rough but the instance servers crashed again after the first boss kill and never really recoverred so we call it off for the night lol. (and I proceeded to do gobble up daily quests like nobody's business hehe)
Some stats about those for those interested (since ive now done two full iterations of dailies there) The first go around all the quests give 250rep with shattered sun, the 2nd go around the 2 quest in qual'danas only give 150, however, the 3 in shattrah give 250rep each. So that is 1050rep, per character, per day without even setting foot in the instance. Also I can confirm that the shattered sun supplies bags have a chance to give you a badge of justice as I got one on my rogue this morning. As more dailies open up (which offer this bag as a reward) I would say expect 1-2 badges per week from these dailies on the low end, definately not a source of leet epics but a few extra here and there never hurt. All in all between quests and dailies I pocketed about 700g last night easily across 2.25 characters.
On that note what is everyone's servers at now? As of a few hours ago when I logged out Kel'thuzad was at 45% in phase one :)
we found that on the last fight the best thing to do is have a healer or two stand in the entryway and everyone use a macro /target <name> / follow.. once this got them oriented toward the door then they could just move around and avoid the orbs.. people seemed to get really disoriented by the gravity well.. otherwise just keep healing everyone through it and avoid the spheres.
I clearly missed something...what is this Phase and % thing all about? With lore included, please :p I talked to the NPC after the server rebooted this morning at 5am(right after the whole Reprisal incident in my other thread) and he said we were at 41%...I have no clue what it's for though and feel kinda left out lol
Ah I see...instead of spending weeks cooperating and working toward a goal, a bunch of rambos are doing things that opens up within a couple days lol; I'll have to look more closely at the quest text if the gankers give me the time to tonight >.> Thanks Fur :p

In AQ it was gearing for war against another army, so gathering resources in preperation were what was needed. Now we are trying to fight back invaders (the prupose you are serving is very obvious if you read the quest flavor text) and I personally like the SSO version of it better, not because i make gold doing it (which is nice) but because I feel more immersed in the experience of it than I ever did mindlessly farming freaking linen cloth to get the gates open.

With my 15khp 510 defense Warrior and 4x 800 damage 21 base crit Shaman I found that the instance is just too hard to box for me. I know it's a direct result of the tank, but... No CC considering how hard some of these mobs hits and no reliable way to keep all of the mobs targeting me means there's just too much that can go wrong.
For rep farming at least, I can pull to and kill the last boss in ~10 minutes. 439 rep in 10 minutes plus reset time is pretty fast, surely faster than doing full clears. Thank God for 4x Bloodlust hehe.

I've been helping out my alchemist guildies since noone wanted to do normal instance with them more than once to get the rep for their trinkets. We hit Exalted yesterday night. Our setup was 1 resto druid 1 prot pala and 3 of my elemental shamans. Our fastest full clear (aka all mobs killed) was 22 min. Since I was just helping there and I didnt bother with rep im not sure how much a full clear gives, but i think its around 1500ish.
Havent tried heroic yet, since there are still lot of people in the guild who wants to do heroic for the trinkes from the 3rd boss(es). Feels just wrong to have one tank/healer for myself when others want to do instance and get their trinket.

Just wanted to share some thoughts about the instances. Actually whats up with Blizzard, they give us an instance with bosses similar to ones we know. If you look for strategy on them, you will find Warlord Something (last boss in Steamvault), Hexlord (ZA) and Kael'thas (TK). Thats basically... boring! I did the instance once and was like "wtf o0"
tried it on heroic again last night, this time on my druid as a healer. That place is really rough, 2nd boss (vexxelus) is a bitch of a fight. The adds he spawns deal so much damage with their chain lightning so quickly that it was very hard to heal through. We got him on 2nd attempt with 3 of us dead. The 3rd boss (priestess, aka 5v5 arena fight) we kept wiping on due to lack of any real CC and the mage we decided to alt in (one of our alts) sadly was not attuned so we called it after a few wipes. I will say that if you can do vexxelus then kael'thas is a piece of cake even on heroic. The 3rd boss just needs some mad Dips in order to drop one of the mobs right at the start (such as the warrior).
The run before the healer got the healing trinket off third boss and one interesting point of this is that the charges go through mortal strike. so if you have the full 20 charges it will heal the target for 2k hp no matter what, kind of nice :)

I recall one of the Devs saying they specifically designed most of the bosses in Magister's Terrace to copy raid bosses for the benefit of the people who don't raid, so that they can experience the fights as well. Plus, with Kael that's an awful lot of development for a gravity lapse mechanic to just use it once.
Besides, its not like they haven't been copy-pasting raid boss strategies in to 5-mans for a while now.

If everyone is bunched, the orbs all go towards the same direction. Just bunch every one up, and swim towards the door you came in. At this point, I have my priest do a Prayer of Healing and a Prayer of Mending before I hug the wall and swim towards the left wall in Kael's circle. Another few prayers. Once the orbs get close again, swim along the north wall to the other side of the room. At this point. Gravity lapse should wear, and you can just lay in to the boss before it goes off again. I don't even try to DPS him during gravity lapse.
She probably has Desperate Prayer (instant self cast only heal) or the Draenei shaman was with her (hate that guy). If you have a paladin with you, Hammer of Justice just before/after the first volley should stop any of that. Beyond that, I've heard elemental totems can help immensely.Quote:

After much fustration, I gave up. Blizzards claim of this place being "equal difficulty to Shadow Labs / Shattered Halls" is quite a stretch. The mixed-class abilities of each pull really screw you up.
I know some of you guys have completed this without CC, but I really don't see how. Creative LoS pulls? insane gear? Whats the secert?
As far as difficulty goes, yeah, this thing may be on par with HEROIC Shadow Labyrinth or Shattered Halls. The Blood Elf "party" pulls have huge damage output, and several potential "Oh ****" maneuvres. I usually LOS them myself, and the healer is usually OOM by the end of the fight. Stupid trash is harder than the bosses.
well yeah this instance is very hard for multiboxer and even for some pugs. Anyways, decent dps focus makes miracle. Killing mobs in right order is the key of the instance and one cc is almost a must if you arent epix geared group.Quote:

Question: In the courtyard with trash, I saw your pali move out of a pink bubble that appeared on the ground around one mob, I remember seeing that, but it didn't seem to do any damage to me if I remember correctly, what does it do?
From what I've seen, any spells that pass through the area get knocked down to about 1/4. Or at least its just as bad on incoming damage as well as outgoing.Quote:

No...that pink bubble reduces all magic damage taken INSIDE it; aka if it drops on the tank and the mobs are inside it, my Starfires went from doing 2500+ a pop too 500 at best.
Did my first MrT run last night...it's hard as all fuck but it's fun too, and a nice movie halfway in to boot lol; course, I died on the, ahem, last boss right off the bat pretty much...apparently those phoenixes' burn HURTS and they have enough HP that I can't wrathspam it down in time even with Mage dps assistance lol
Just for the interestingness of it, my MrT group was:
Pala tank, Resto Druid Healer, Fire Mage, Me Boomkin, and an Enh shammy; quite the non-standard makeup for a non-boxing group :p Consec made the mage's job a bit of a pain in the ass but it kept aggro well enough that unless I specifically went all out on a mob I couldn't take aggro and that's REALLY FUCKING HARD for me NOT to do with my dmg and crits lol; though at times I did have to unshift to help heal/depoison the tank a few times as a resto(Pvp resto spec'd no less) couldn't keep up with all the trash dmg...did fine on bosses though.
Anyone else think the loot's pretty shitty for the difficulty though? Most of the gear has similar/less spelldmg than mine did and a third of the stats to boot...sure they may not be uber epics but jesus especially with how tough that pvp fight is it should be better than 13int 13sta, I get that shit on lv50 eagle gear lol
As for the pvp fight...there's TWO healers. The Mace-wielding draenei shaman and the mistress of pain both heal; the Draenei's far worse though as he casts god-fucking-damn prayer of mending that heals for more dmg than I managed to put out till he went oom lol; keep him sheeped or mana-drain him asap; cyclone the warr if you have druid(s) around, burn the big bitch down first, hibernate the hunter's pet again if you have druid(s) around, or scare beast as hunter. If at all possible, kill draenei last so there's noone for the Prayer of Mending to jump to. We tried sheeping the warrior the first attempt and wiped miserably; 2nd attempt we sheeped him and slept the hunter pet(I didn't realize he was a hunter the first attempt) and cycloned the warr occasionally and we burnt 'em down just fine
Did you spread your team out? I find that essential for both the Phoenix and for minimizing his flame strike.
Well the pheonix pet drops on both normal and heroic and with a solid group its pretty easy to chain run it for the drops there. I know of people that were already exalted by the end of the first week there.Quote:

Went on my first MgT regular run...on my Priest...in a PuG, lol. Was a lot of fun after we got through a couple rough spots of working together but on the last fight I swear I could not see any orb near me and yet the others said they saw an orb. Wonder if there's sometimes a bug where you can't see an orb. I agree non-Heroic seems a bit rough for not being heroic.
The trash is definitely a PITA at times - last boss though, pally guild mate solo'd him with the rest of our group dead for the last 40%. I guess this is pretty common to solo him down if you avoid the orbs and there is no phoenix alive.Quote:
