Overall $125 cheaper and you get 2gb more ram. Granted the processor is only the q6600 but so far it has better ratings and reviews than the q6700 does and the mb i have selected there has also been better rated than the intel one you have shown. But this is just my opinion and I thought I would share something that might save you money down the road.
Is finding cheeper alternatives to peoples purposed rigs like your gift from god or something, Shigan5? Hehe. Your pretty good at it so far, it seems.Quote:

Lol, i know. Sorry. I just love hardware and expensive hardware is a no go. But I also like to be supportive, and if my information helps than yeah. And everything i post is a suggestion, some people prefer theyre brands and everything, im just showing that there are alternatives out there and the money you save on one box is more money you can spend on your next.
Well I did appreciate your suggestions and as you saw, I took advantage of them. Now, I just hope to see my products come in soon and get started assembling sometime soon.
Yeah, assembly is ALWAYS the funnest part, Its like christmas when UPS drops off new parts :D. Take your time assembling though, I know there have been times that I've wanted to rush through and get gaming but if one thing is wrong, potential destruction of $400 worth of parts, ive been lucky and havent had any mistakes yet but im waiting for my day. :whistling:
Thanks for the reply and Shigan5 I think you are right on the compared performance, but wouldn't going with DDR3 and the new nVidia 780i motherboard give me a little more performance and it is also upgradeable later in the future, I never really liked Gigabyte motherboards but thats for your suggestions.
Glad I could help.
I assume the OP wants to MB 5 clients on one machine, but the original link is only for 2GB of RAM. Make sure to opt for at least 4 GB for running 5 clients.
ndThis is true, you could and its your money. The 780i will last you a long time and is very good bang for your buck. The reason i stick with cheaper boards and everything is so later on if i decide to upgrade its easier to stash away something i spent $80 on then it is on something i spent $250 on. And im just waiting for the day when intel starts their new line of sockets and LGA775 becomes obsolete, granted it may not be a while but you never know.Quote:

The biggest problem I see witht he 780i is you will more than likely have to buy a new power supply as this board needs an 8pin CPU connecter, not the 4pin, which most mobos come standard with.
Either way it will make for a fantastic build, and you'll be able to multibox like a charm.
Yeah I noticed that 8-pin connector and was doing some reading up on it I am currently using a 1100x power supply from ThermoMax and woot it already has a connector for the 8-pin motherboards. I was also planning on using Vista 64-bit with 8gig of RAM with 2 nVidia 8800 GTXs, but I also noticed that Evga just released the nVidia 790i boards too, I am deployed to Iraq right now so money isn't a issue on buying parts. But thanks for all your comments and suggestions keep them coming if you have anymore thoughts.
hmm Can i recommend something. Since you are getting a 780i and you are looking to spend a huge amount on dual gtx's look at this and rethink the idea of your dual GTX's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130338
In essence youd already have SLI with that one card. But only use one PCI port. That thing is a monster, and later on down the road you can get a second and you will be QUAD sli, which the 780i supports.
http://www.evga.com/articles/395.asp
this card is 50% faster than the 8800 ultra so this thing is right on the tails of two gtxs in SLI. It has much more memory and stream processors and the memory bandwith is monstrous. This thing will blow your pants off and make make you a sandwich at the same time, you SLI two of these and itll make Crysis on full settings max resolution be like you're running notepad on xp.
The current world record for scores in 3Dmark06 was with two 8800ultras in SLI, both overclocked. The score was around 32000. The current highest score with only ONE of these cards is 29,000. 3k less than a machine with sli. http://service.futuremark.com/result...eResultType=14
So id get one now and if or when you can afford it and the drivers are ready, go get a second for quad SLI. But hey thats just me lol.
Back on topic, two 8800gtxs is plenty to 5 box or more. And they are reliable cards.
DAMN that card is sweet, an don the 2x 8800 GTX I wasn't going to go SLI because that wouldn't let me use more than 1 monitor, with this card would I be able to use more than 1 monitor if I went SLI.
hmm no, but each card is technically two cards built into one, so when it says the core clock is only 600mhz its actually at 1200, cause the two cards work together sorta SLI but without the restrictions.
