PLANS: Realm first 90 monk via boxing boost (advice wanted)

Hey guys been a very long time since I posted on here, I have had this idea that I thought would be good to share with you guys to get some feedback and maybe hear some of your own plans for MOP.

Background (you can skip this part its sort of like an introduction):
First a little about me I first started dual boxing back in TBC with just 2 shaman after watching Xzin doing mages in vanilla on wowmovies and was just mind-blowing had to have ago, I caught the boxing hype right as it started and by the end of TBC I had a full 5 shaman team. 3 weeks before Wrath I moved to a new realm which Blizzard announced would be one of the last 2 realms to be made with the AQ gates closed, I had always wanted the Scarab title ever since vanilla so decided to use boxing to my advantage and push for it, then I realised I could actually have the time to get it on a DK so soon as wrath came out I made that my goal, a DK with the scarab title. Later in Wrath I layed off boxing as i wasn't enjoying pvp as much on the shaman compared to playing the dk solo. Come Cata the boxing bug is in full swing and im ready to level my now 4 alliance shaman to 85. In the end it was very much worth it Cata has been great for boxing, pvp has been a hell of a lot of fun. I tried to cut back from wow and reduced my accounts to 1 active. Changes in SOR got me a bunch of new level 80 priests and back into boxing once more. With MOP on the horizon which im loving the look of I've decided to go for the realm first monk on my realm to reach level 90, I'm not alone theres quite a few others also planning this, however I chose to make my plans a little more discreet (minus sharing them with all of you ofc).

The Plan
My goal is realm first 90 monk, I'm going to use boxing if I'm convinced its going to get me there faster than without.
Human Monk: I know the human quests inside out, join my guild at level 1 and can dodge the over populated Panda areas on launch. Plan is to race change at 90 back to a Panda because i think they look great.
1-58 Questing: I will use a level 85 with touring rocket to transport my monk around to the questing areas, I think this will save a lot of time at levels 1-20 but will have less effect 21-58.
58-62: Soon as I hit 58 summon to Hellfire Ramparts instance and boost using DK, I can clear it in less than 5 minutes including getting out and reset. When I hit the 4 run cap I will go quest.
62-68: Using 4 level 70s to boost in the random LFD, while not set in stone classes I'm planning to use are 3 hunters and a disp priest.
68-80: Using 4 level 80s to again boost in LFD, planned classes are 4 shadow priests.
68-80: (alternatively) Quest, seems questing in Wrath is much faster and more thought out than TBC.
80-82: Using 4 level 85s to again boost in LFD, I will use my 4 ele shaman
82-83: Deepholm solo Questing
83-84: Uldum solo Questing
84-85: Twilight Highlands solo Questing
85-90:MOP solo Questing


This is the plan, unfortunately things out of my control mean that on game launch I may not even be able to play, I work all summer which allows no time for playing, in end of September I'm back at university. So all the effort to get this organised and I might not even get a chance.

Getting ready for it I have collected a lot of gear and ofc all heirlooms as well as pots flasks foods etc.

Pure guesswork but Im putting the release date of MOP at 2nd or 9th of October. Its not a shot in the dark i have my reasons to believe this is the date and have convinced few of my mates to expect it then. For the following reasons:
Datamining has shown level 90 versions of the Headless Horseman loot from the Hallows End holiday, so this would suggest that MOP would be released in time for this and expect people to of reached 90 in time for it.
No level 90 items are currently available for the Brewfest, which would suggest at the moment level 90s wouldn't be present during this holiday.
Brewfest would be an ideal time for the launch given the connections between the new race and the brewfest.
Typically Blizzard release expansions on a Tuesday, have done in the past.

Please don't slam me for the dates pure guesswork most likely wrong.


I would love to hear any tips or advice you can give me, if you see something wrong or strange with my leveling plan please I wanna know about it.

3x 85s with you in a dungeon will net you very low exp, even over 80.

In my opinion, and I am sure many will disagree, tag boosting is the best method.

Put tagger in a 2 man group, the monk and the tagger.

Have as many outside of group as possible not in any group help kill

Tag with tagger, kill mobs with everyone. Your monk should get max exp.

THE MOBS MUST NOT BE GRAY TO THE TAGGER .... Thus if tagger is 85 and mobs are 80 and monk is 20 thats fine.

Once the monk is high enough to tag then drop the tagger form the group.

Find a place with fast spawning mobs. Get as many accounts as you can to help kill. ...

Is there a reason not to use raf?

One really nice thing about this method is that you can stay in the same spot from level 1 to around level 80 with level 85 taggers and killers.


I was thinking of trying for world first 90 but seeing euro is 8 hours ahead at launch thats worthless, and relm first is great but everyone will remember world first.

Do they not allow new classes to use RaF? I'm sure if they do, that would be the fastest way to get a monk to 80. I was thinking about starting 3 new accounts RaFd to get a set of monks..locks and SPs to 80 at some point. And i would just run 5 monks through instances after I hit 13 or so ( can do random with 5 monks..tank..healer and dps )

with raf you have to have two lowbies and the tagger, I think the lowbies will still get max exp, but then its max X 3. Even if you get X3/2 thats still better. Not sure on all that though.

You probably cant transfer an existing toon to a Panda until after realm first 90 achievement is given out. Didnt they do that for Worgen?

If you're trying to do a realm first, then questing from 1 - 58 might be a giant waste of time if you have a booster available to you. Boosting to level 80 takes 20 - 25 hours if you're a pro. There will be downtime in between the instances because you will hit the lockout. I'm going to bet that even if you only did instances via boosting and you just ate the lockout time, you would still reach level 58 (and beyond) faster than questing.

There is no Realm First! achievement for Worgen or Goblins. Blizzard allowed people to faction change to them from day one of the expansion.

However, the OP is going for Realm First Monk (class, not race).

Fastest way I can think of would be to use the RAF level grant to 80 or whatever level it goes to now, then burn through the last few levels by questing with a few max level toons on follow but not grouped to help tag kill mobs along the way.

I think you might be right, i had thought maybe if I group with 5 then offline 2 of them so effectively only using 2 level 85s to boost the Monk might give more XP than if it was in a group of 5 80s? Will have to give this a try to find out.

As for the RAF suggestion by others, I have a feeling with blizzard planning on changing the way RAF works in the future that it wont be available on MOP release, this or they wont allow it for Monks. People on forums have suggested that using RAF gifted levels/xp bonus or using a saved SOR insta level 80 would somehow disable the chance of getting realm first. Something we wont know until closer to the time, if they announce this at all.

Will have to try this, at the moment I've been levelling the odd character in different zones and recording the time its taken to level. Will have to give this method a go and see what it takes to hit 58. The goal is to hit 85 within 24 hours of the expansions launch, hopefully unsettling any competition to basically give up so I can grab a few hours sleep before plowing into MOP 85-90. Will ofc get guildies and mates to text/ring me up to get me back ingame if theres some competition getting close to 85. As I don't have access to the Beta my weakness is going to be the unknown of the expansion I have to play offensively in as possible at the start to gain the upper hand. While 1-58 I can quest through very quickly as well as 68-80 also very fast, I feel my levelling speed is weakest in Outlands 58-68 and Twilight Highlands at 84-85. 1-20 I think I'll have to quest and use a boostie to fly me around, even without the flying I can level through this in an just over 90 minutes.


Cheers everyone for the replies keep the input coming, if we could just for now assume that RAF is going to not be a possibility, then if it is that will be the best way to level and if its not I have a plan B.

Haha... I feel dumb for not thinking of that. However, if gifting levels didn't disqualify a realm first, I would stock up on the best level 80 Cata gear that I could buy so that I wouldn't be in level 1 gear trying to do Mt. Hyjal.

Got to it before me. If you do it any way but this, plan to catch up 80 levels somehow. Also, prep that account with BoA gear for when you start questing. After 80 probably use that deepholm aoe grinding spot by tagging and having high levels finish off he mobs,

Id be careful on that its not clear if dropping people in and out of the instance is legal.

Granted levels would be the fastest by far. Stock up on as much lvl 80 BoE gear beforehand, and have 2 level 80s ready and waiting, each with 40 levels to grant to the lvl 1 monk. Within seconds you have an 80, then send him his bags, repair gold, and the boe gear and choose your path, (questing, aoe grinding, or instance boosting)

I would assume the same, but do you have a link to an official announcement on that?

find the one where "the worlds best paladin" athene did not get it since he xferred within 90 days, in that blue post it stated that raffed accounts, xfers, would not be available to win any realm first acheivments. can't find the post here at work, i'll try to locate it when i get home

Athene did not receive the realm first achievement because he transferred to a new server, and its right in the server transfer FAQ that you are ineligible for realm first achievements until after 60 days. Think his video showed him hitting 85 in about 5 hours tagging, while the achievement went out at 14 hours, Athene was nearly 3 times faster.

The question here is about Refer a Friend, not server transfer. So blue posts about Athene probably wont help us find out about RaF.

7 hour and a half actually.

Either way what's the point of an achievement saying that you were the first when you are actually not the first. It's like carl lewis becoming olympic champion on the 100m sprint in '88 after ben johnson got disqualified. It's not the same as actually winning the race.

Either way I can't see them not allowing RaF for monks. People will specifically do a raf to level up faster. So I rather see them exclude raf from the race to realm first.

Does RaF gifting take you to 80 or to 79? And what about scroll of ressing an old account and instant lvl 80 monk and upgrade online to cata while lvling to 85?

Also consider that they are probably going to force you to stay in the starting zone until level ten when you decide to be horde/alliance just like they annoyingly do with goblin/worgen. So knowing the human starting zones inside out won't do you much good if you're stuck in pandaria to level 14 (assuming full heirlooms)
