Multiple-Boxers Rolling AV

So last couple days I have been rolling with Oathbreaker and Tiny in AV with 1-2 sinlge-boxers and another boxer. So basically we have had 15 shaman, 5 DK, warrior tank and a priest with the occassional extra 5 DKs or 5 resto druids. We do well initially but then our team mates of single boxxers end up accomplishing nothing.

Our initial strategy was to defend our first two towers (TP and the one near Galv) and then back cap. What we discovered is our 18-19 team mates wouldn't cap SHB or head north. They would mess around with Bal and get wiped and then hang out in the tunnel doing nothing as we back cap relief hut, GYs and Towers in our base and then we would bunker into the boss's room and unload a ton of chain lightning + deathgrip the single boxxers in with the occassional sortie out to hit more. But again this would generally lead to a loss due to reinforcements so it isn't a valid tactic.

So we went for plan B. I rolled resto x 5 and we basically push north cap north and south bunkers. I would ES each of the 5 DKs and Oathbreakers 2 resto shammies takes care of his other 8 guys. As soon as we cap on tower we pop 5 x Army and roll into Van's room with about 10 secs to cap on another Bunker. Let DKs plus Armies grab aggro then summon up 15 fire elementals, 15 earth elementals and pop lust = win in less than nine minutes.

I think once we started doing this we had a 100% win ratio for the 3-4 games we did this way. Excellent way of grinding some quick honor and I know my toons are now in almost all 384/390 gear.

So what tactics do other use when grouping up with multiple Boxxers for AV or IOC?

1 boxer each tower, after 4 mins all head to end boss, kill. Pray someone from the other 20 has back capped at least 1 thing.

The other strat is 1 boxer each in the first 2 towers/bunkers, while the other 2 back cap the first 2 enemy towers, then head to end boss and kill with 2 towers/bunkers up.

Evn though you lose major honour by not 4 capping, you generally have to go with 2 up these days to beat the other team

I'll give you a heads up on a strat that we have developed for groups of 10-20, although this will probably come back to bite me since I play alliance :)

We move all 20 of us to IceBloodTower and wait for the Horde to kill Belinda and leave 3 minutes on the SHB or IWB timer (whichever is capped first).

This allows us to know that the majority of the horde will have moved north to Stormpike Aid Station and North/South Bunkers. We move from IBT to SHB/IWB and backcap, knowing that the horde will have left at most 5 in each of those bunkers.

We cap those and move north, riding as a group, straight into North or South Bunker (again, depending on which was capped first).

We let the horde cap SP Aid station and then farm them outside of Van and push them into the GY, farming them until the alliance pugs down south burn their towers and kill Drek.



I've found that defending towers (or bunkers in my case) is the best way to ensure a LOT of running around. The horde will split up to avoid you and consistently run around capping random bunkers and towers.

The best start we've found is to wait for them to do their normal thing (head to the main objective, Van) and then farm them up there because they only ever leave scarce numbers to defend SHB/IWB.


We run with a handful of boxers on a Xrealm pre made service and run AV/IOC quite regularly. We also run occasionally with the QQ pre made service. One CTA weekend, we had two boxers sitting in TP each game and didn't lose the tower the entire weekend, even against 20 horde who were trying to turtle :)

Boxers are the best way to ensure a win in AV but I would recommend 2 per tower. Most games it will be overkill but for the turtle games, it's essential to winning.

15 single toons can easily overcome a single boxer as they will call out one target that they think is the master toon. With two boxers, they need to find the second master toon which they generally can't do before they get wiped.

Boxer strength in towers increase exponentially, to the extent that 4 boxers controlling 20 toons can, and should, be able to hold off an entire enemy team.

I should have mentioned the basis for the strat I outlined above.

As Valkry correctly stated, the enemy team will be quite capable of killing your boss with 2 towers still standing.

With the strat of back capping and leaving IBT with 3 minutes left, we are guaranteed at least 3 minutes to capture back IWB and SHB, which is always enough.

Because we are capping those two bunkers, the horde team are unable to go in on Van until North and South burn, which is generally 1 minute - 1 minute 30 after they would go in, had SHB and IWB burnt.

Most of the time, the back capping group from SHB and IWB make it North in time to back cap North and South as well and farm horde. At worst, the back cap team buys an extra 60 to 90 seconds for the pugs doing offence.

Also, with the bunkers being kept up, you get maximum honour.

Any strat where you try to intercept the enemy will generally end badly, since they have 35 (being realistic) heading in your direction. If you wait until the enemy have moved North (or south in your case) you can avoid the blob and put the odds in your favour :)

And for those of you familiar with QQ premeds strat

Groups 1-2 -> Galv -> Backcap SHB and IWB
Groups 3-4 -> Galv -> Frostwolf reinforcements
Groups 5-6 -> IBT -> Frostwolf
Groups 7-8 -> TP -> TP

7-8 Recallers to backcap North and South

I have merely combined the back capping groups 3-4 and the recallers together and made them move as a group, with combined assignments :) But it works :)

I box 4 dk / 1 h pally and group a lot with a 5 boxing shaman. We have pretty good success as horde just zerging north and sound bunkers, popping everything, and going when 2 are down with any singles who are there. It normally helps if, while you are waiting for the bunkers to cap, if you tell everyone to get north and that you are going on 2.

I hope to join some games with the zerg some day. Once cross realm raids go live, I imagine it will be a reality.

Yeah we have been getting very active on Magtheridon lately for Friday-Saturday nights. I work Sunday nights so can't speak to the level of players on then. We have been rolling with 20-25-30-35 multi-boxed toons in IOC and AV lately. The Zerg has definetly been Zerging it up. So we are all patiently awaiting the cross-realm PVP queueing.

Yeah I was in that one (Blutbad, Mellifer, Jagerbar, Hexenbiest, in the picture.. and Ziegvolk (not in picture)) ... we exhausted their reinforcements. We started out with a Lawyer Reach-Around strategy: Which is we wipe them at Galv by going behind the building and letting the alliance in. Once the are all in we roll in behing them with 5-10 DKs, 5-15 elemental shammies and commence to wipe their offense. Back cap towers and if needed trinket back to get our GY and towers... was a fun BG.

Lots of killing.

The alliance hates it when PVP happens in AV... the Zerg puts PVP back into a badly configured (from horde perspective) BG.

LoL, yea next av cta begins on feb 10, and i predict we'll have a full raid and be forced to swap out teams from time to time. what is this premade xrealm service you speak of? when the xrealm raid goes live, i see a lot of alliance qq on the forums. maybe once it does go live, we should start sister <The Zerg> guilds for boxers on other servers? just a thought, we be killer to have a xrealm premade and it all look like the same guild, that would make them scratch their heads for sure.

Well... tonight we did another "Alterac Blitz" ... guild pure 40 man. Might have to start selling that.

grats...i need to grind out my 5 levels,and get my resto druids up to play with you guys. I get alot of flack from bgs, and im on the same team. Funny, but I would personally never complain about have 4 druids with the top healing done on both teams healing my hiney.

I feel your pain I run ret/rogue/restoD/DiscP/hunter and every time I join a game I get, Knakuba has 4 toons following him report them afk!!!

I end up on the top of the dmg meters and healing meters every game....
