Ease the physical pain of follow

This will ease the physical pain of follow. “tendonitis”

Create a small repeater region in the center of your screen. Map your follow key on the new region.
While playing you will natural mouse over the follow region. And I find it easier to mouse over the region verses clicking the follow button.

I also have a key map state to toggle the region off and on.

The best follow I have discovered

The Arrow keys are Click Bars that send Left, Right UP, DOWN Strafe Left , Strafe Right to all others. On the small screens they are sent per toon.

The 1, 2 3 >> i use with the quest cut scenes

Heal rollover works just like the follow rollover. Just assign a keymap to a repeater region and that keymap is repeated on rollover.

the z -> follow -> z -> follow helps quite a bit on moonwalk follow. It is not perfect. but it is much improved. truly brilliant. I was using "jump" to do the same. But 'z' is faster.


btw, repeated regions , click bars, those are pretty nice too. But they are not the reason you get into trouble with bans, are they ? Or it is more having to do with autoit.

Most likely because of Autoit. Click bars and repeat regions are part of Inner Space.

This seems to work before speeders. Once you have speeders you the sheath/unsheath won't work and you have to resort to adding a directional movement key to break the desync :(

This gave me an idea however and I am going to try a adding jump instead of a directional ;p

I have been struggling with getting my clickbar to work.

I followed steps 1 - 8 in your picture, but I think the issue is with something I may be doing wrong in step 6.

I made a keymap called SWTOR and that works fine. I can turn on Repeater and all my toons walk forward and back and side to side. Here is a screen of my forward button

Then once I was sure those worked I went on to step 6 but I do not think I am setting that screen up right here is what I have. I was not sure if I need to pick the Keymap at the top right AND the bottom right as well.. Can you provide screens for how you setup your screen 6? Or maybe let me know what you think I may be doing wrong?

I've been using Z for a while and it works with speeders just fine. If you're a saber user it's nice too since you can HEAR how close they are.

My Key Map works like this.

"No Hot key for my Mapped Keys"

Darkmond thanks for the help... I was wondering if you are you using your arrow keys for just your main tank and then having everyone else follow.. Or do you just use the arrow keys to position all toons once u get to a camp? I used your method to also map all of the hotbar target keys.. SO when I press them the mobs get auto-targeted by the group and they press the same keys as my MA.. :)

Darkmod, Your screen setup is way cool. Is that your main window or do you have a 5th window that you are sourcing the other 4 windows into?

I really like your setup though I would like to keep my original windows "native" and then source them into a seperate window with the FX ability. That way I can just switch to the original windows if I want to interact wth a given client in it's native state.

If I can't source them into a 5th window from the original 4, I definately would like to be able to toggle them off when looking at maps and such.

I am not sure how to do this. Any help would be greatly apprecated.

I use 2 dxNothing regions and 4 stacked SWTOR regions total of 6 regions. I’m not set up to change leader/focuse at this point so I only need to see my three followers. When isBoxer 4.0 is released I will set a 4th viewer in region 5.

When working with regions I found the “top” and “left” the easiest regions to work with because the top left positions never change there original X,Y. So when I’m editing video FX’s I can simply expand the region without changing the region position. So in my Region 6 I would pull down the bottom region handle half way down, edit/save my objects and return the region to the original position.

Another thing to consider is the size of your stacked SWTOR windows. Smaller resolutions = higher FPS.

Hi Dark, curious how you solved this issue.

Group seems to be sorted first by level, and second by name; do you just have who to target for /follow [and heals] hard coded per slot?
[edit: on second look, maybe they are sorted by creation date; might have just worked out that way for mine...anyone know, definitively?]

I was thinking of maybe making ATG's to set who to follow, when [based on what slot the leader is in], but it seems kind of cumbersome, if workable. Not sure if theres a better solution to healing rather than just hard-coding it; and hoping they don't get staggered in levels.

Hmm. Man, we really could use macro's. and working follow; boxing two is pretty easy, but getting 4 organized and headed in the same direction [issues of follow aside] seems pretty complicated atm.

Sorting is weird, I had a team named Axxxx,Bxxx,Cxxx,Dxxx. and the sorting by name didn't work.
One thing I noticed was that I created them in this order B,A,C,D and that's how they sorted ingame. So i think sorting might be off a UUID we can't see. So when you create a team create it in the order you want. -- "I have not experimented with this too much"

Healing: There is no macro system so yes its all hard coded per toon.

I have a PowerTech Tank, and 3 Mercenary Healers. Any time i rollover a heal region my 3 healers target and heal.

Darkmod, Thanks for sharing and being so responsive. There are many nuggets of wisdom in the things you shared. For example, putting the DXnothing windows on the upper/left sides was not my first preference (I am used to bottom & right) but I now understand what you were eluding to... You have to expand the dxnothing region to see the vxfsource/viewer settings & your x,y coords would be off otherwise when you resize the DXnothing back after changing/saving your vxfviewer settings... Very nice tip that I didn't want to follow at first but I figured I would trust in your experience and follow your recommendations and was/am very happy.

Glad to help. I should probably put in a request to Lax to have the option to change the origin point of a region.

I just started PvPing with sentinels.

Sheath/Unsheath is not ideal in PvP. When in combat you can't sheath/unsheath. In PvE you can almost always hit a mob to allow you to break the desync issue. In warzone PvP it can take forever for your combat flag to drop.

This means that sheath/unsheath unfortunately will not function properly in warzones for us :(

The bright side is, level 35 my first ever match with sentinels. Not using the proper keybinds or even the right skills for PvP I put up 75k on both characters in a losing match where the top guy on my team was a level 50 Commando who did 90k ;p

Gonna push for 50 by tuesday I think!

Ok, so I revamped my autofollow system based on the fresh melee PvP experience!

I'm fairly confident that this is going to be about as good as it gets until Bioware fixes autofollow.

Since you are not allowed to sheath/unsheath weapons while in combat and this presents problems for us in warzones where it isn't unheard of to go an entire match in combat, I am now using jump. You don't actually jump by the way :)

I've created a custom jump keymap. It is not bound, but triggers jump via X.

My follow macro is two steps.

Step 1 is:
DO JUMP KEYMAP.
DO TARGET PARTY MENBER X
DO FOLLOW TARGET
Step 2 is:
TARGET OF TARGET

What I have done with the Jump Keymap is set it so that it only passes ONCE every 4 seconds. This means that when I am mashing any of my DPS keys, my character will not constantly turn to look in the direction the camera is panned before following again. It will only do it once every 4 seconds. For me I have actually timed my desync down to about 5.5 seconds. How close you want to cycle the jump is up to you. For me 4 seconds seems like it will work, but I may eventually push it to 5 to try and maximize efficiency.

This should also slow down the inevitable followers falling super far behind because no matter how compulsively you mash follow when traveling, the jump fix will only fire every 4s.

If any of this information is redundant I apologize in advance I haven't actually read the entire thread, just the first page and some of the more recent replies ;p

Has anyone figured out how to right click on Trainers and other NPCs when grouped. Turning on mapped mouse movement is not ideal as the npc is not always in the same position for every toons screen.

I am using DXnothing windows (per Darkmod's recommended layout) to source in my slave window on my main screen via vfx. I make the vfx viewer both repeater and keystroke pass through capable and can click on npc's and dialogs fine. The second screen is too small for me to read the dialog well though I read/listen to the dialog on my main screen. The clicking is fine though optionally I could just hit 1,2,3... I alt tab between the two with no issues though, if I had 4 accounts (I am only using 2 with their companions to make a full party) I would take the time to figure out how to switch via hotkey as alt-tabing with more than 2 could get a little confusing...

EDIT: I wanted to add that I have no issues joining conversation when in range or clicking "holo-call" in the small vfx window hosted in the DXnothing region. I just mouse over and click and then mouse back to my main window and "Start Conversation".

So I guess the only way at present is to use the dxnothing windows... I was just wondering if someone had figured out another way to right click on the same NPC / Object in all your windows at the same time. I use the 123 method for conversations but I just hate having to right click on each window seperate it really would be nice if you could just right click in your main window and somehow that got carried over to the others the way 123 does.

When you do quests, everyone else in your group gets a prompt to either join the convo or to holo-call in.

Mouse broadcasting lets you click them all in with one click.

Sadly, there was no stealth fix to the follow bug in the patch :(

Can you clarify this?

What I did was set "x" as the secondary jump in swtor then with the alt key i bound the above steps / actions as you have described.

On a side note the in game target of target does not work for me if anyone has an idea.
