Been away a very long time and looking for input

Hello all...been away for over a year but I'm back and deleted some lvl 80 toons to start anew
And I must say I'm enjoying most of the new changes
And lvling again is fun

Been running a 3x BM Hunter team and loving it

Just dinged lvl 44 so I get Thunderstomp now and was gonna go with the x3 bear (man I miss that swipe aoe)
I was unaware of the turtle shell thing so now I'm thinking of x3 turtles
If they ping pong aggro with the damage mitigation healing should be a breeze

Also thinking of turtle and cat for the agi buff and some other pet for another random buff (not sure whats available)

But I'm worried that the dps cat will pull aggro form the turtle tank and then whats the point of the damage mitigation

Currently I am running x3 cat they ping pong aggro like crazy and I have a mend pet in my rotation so it all works well
Been dungeon grinding for my lvls no questing
Started SM Cath at lvl 35 no tank or healer just x3 hunters and I find it to be quite easy
Even the bosses are pushovers

The short non focus burning macro is because 3 hunters burn trash so fast I would be OOF all the time
So I choose just the kill command as KCx3 is quite enough damage for most trash lol
Now hunters mark stays in even though its already up just incase I'm late to stop spamming so it doesnt auto select a new target when my last target dies (because the auto shot would lead the macro) and auto shot is in there because if I lead with x3 KC and they all crit sometimes i cant get a shot off and the mob is dead(so no xp or loot)

While I'm on that subject (sorta)
tell me please how an actual spell cast in kill command yields no loot or xp
I could understand if it was a pet auto kill but KC should count as a hunter tap it's in my spell book not the pet's

With the /click at the end I stay in some haste at all times (burn the first frenzy for 3% for the first 15 sec while the frenzy stacks to 5 during the CD for the full buff) (I'm pulling at least 5 or 6 at a time to keep this all rolling well) and use all other CDs when available and as long as I'm not casting steady I get x3 killshots as well
I also do some manual slave targeting to keep the intimidations on different cooldown intervals

And then I have my boss macro which is basically the same

And this macro is why the targeting macro has hunters mark
Now this one burns some focus but since bosses actually live through a rotation you get plenty of regen on that rotation to keep everything firing Also with my latency and talent specs it keeps serpent sting up and only clipped by like 4 or 5 seconds at the end but like i said plenty of focus regen so i dont mind the clipping

Any suggestion for pet combos or macro changes are welcome
also I have not put much thought to what my macros will be when i get cobra shot
I'll need to change the way the boss macro handles serpent sting

no suggestions but today i did see a pretty sweet level 70 cat in Terrokar Forest i thought about taming. Hes up near the Skywing faction dailiies...

But if putting mend pet inside a castsequence, this will cause macro to stop if pet dies during combat right?
I know this caused trouble for me when a pet died during boss fights doing heroics in Northrend (before cata) so I have mend pet on a seperate button.

Cause there is no way in a castsequence to skip mend pet if no pet is available right?

What software for boxing are you using?

Short answer Yes if the pet is dead then the macro is hung and useless BUT

pets ping pong aggro so well they hardly die

I have lost a pet to trash just a couple times
due to a bad pull i pull more than i wanted and then i select targets so fast that only the main pet taps them(this keeps aggro off the hunters)but then there is no ping pong 1 pet has full aggro and then he dies and all those mobs look for new targets i wiped like 3 times from this
so i just slow down make sure all pets tap each target and worked that out now pets dont die to trash

for bosses
I run aggro very close to tipping point so if a pet gets to 25% health i spam this macro
first you need to turn cower off auto cast so its always up

so we get an instant mend pet and then a damage mitigation of 40% for 6 sec and just incase your low on focus you get fervor(better a wasted fervor than the macro not doing its job) and then all the arcane shots you can pump out so hopefully by this time you have stolen aggro from the pets for them to have mend time let the boss pick at you for as long as your comfortable with then feign death and aggro goes back to well mended pets If one still manages to die you most likely have 2 (or more if boxing more than 3) good full health pets

and since our dps depends so highly on the pets you stop spamming the dps button just for a sec and hit res pet and back to the dps macro the others will still be on the dps while the one reses pet (the dps macro wont interrupt the channel)

I have won boss fights while cycling through res pet on all toons as long as there is still a pet up you can always res and get others in the fight

Wouldn't it be a better idea to use HKN toggles or swapactionbar to deal with mend/rez pet? Sticking it in a cast sequence, while currently effective, is not the most elegant way to deal with things like that.

There should be a link to using toggles in either the bottom of my HKN guide or in the tutorial links of my newb boxers guide (in my sig...on a phone so I can't check). This way you can use a macro for /cast [nopet] rez pet; [pet] mend pet or whatever in the toggle and not risk lockups on dps.

This lets me press the Oem1 key which is the semicolon 3 times in quick succession
and as long as my toons are all facing the same way you get toon 1 doing 3 quick tabs
#2 doing 2 quick tabs and #3 just does 1 tab so now you have 3 different targets real quick

but i dont see how this is helpful with mend pet unless i was to do a toggle for my spam key that would send spam key most of the time until it got to the part about sending a different key which means i would need a steady spam rate(mine varies so i can ride threat high the way i like to) and then it would send the mend pet and also if i did it with HKN that way i would need to fix the script everytime i decided to try something new with my macro

However i do like the thought of the actionbar swap is there a way to do an actionbar swap as part of a castsequence
this would be ideal it would come to where the mend pet should be and swap bars where i would have a macro something like this...dont know if this is the right syntax for it as i dont currently use such a macro

Why would you need to change the script? If you make changes to the macro, it's not going to make any difference to HKN. You'll have 2 macros and all HKN will do is alternate between the two. You put your main macro on 2 and the pet macro on shift 2 for example -

and HKN alternates between sending 2 and shift+2 every time you press 2.

It works the exact same way as swapactionbar.

I've been using this for quite a while on a mixed team and I never have to alter the toggle code no matter how I change my macros. I've even been using the same code for an alt team I've been leveling and didn't need to change anything even when they didn't have enough spells to need a toggle.

It also makes things easy if I need to use different macros altogether, like if I'm doing a dungeon where my healer needs to focus only on healing and won't have time to DPS. I just drag my healer's DPS macro off the 2 key in game and I'm good to go. Or if I'm in a dungeon that will require AOE instead of my standard single target DPS, such as boosting or speed running old content. I just replace my ST spam macro in game with my AOE macros either by swaping out the macros in game or changing the action bar. HKN's code never gets altered.

yes this seems all well and good but im thinking that its casting mend pet every other click which means that its hella slowing the dps macro down

its doing in the case of what you've put here

If it's casting too much, you can always add in spells to keep it from repeatedly casting

Or you can leave mend pet in the way you currently have it and just have the call/rez pet as the secondary macro.

That's the beauty of breaking the macros up and calling them in steps, you don't need to spend all sorts of time trying to create one perfectly timed macro that only works under perfect circumstances.

Well Khat there you have it you solved the whole damn thing

I have changed my macro to this now and it requres no bar swaping no HKN toggles

This macro will revive a dead pet, call an absent pet or if your pet is alive and out already it just does the dps macro castsequence this is awsome because i get to keep those mend pets right where i want them and if the pet dies he is comming right back without even switching macros

I just needed to get someone to start my head working in directions i hadn't thought of yet and you did that TYVM
