Thinking of going back to EQ need help

EQ was my first real online addiction and I have not really been gaming for a few years now.

I am thinking about going back to EQ and doing a 6 box. I have keyclone but I realize it may or may not work with EQ.

I am pretty good at picking up macros but what would be a good group make up?

I was thinking

DK for pulls and tanking because he has FD.
Cleric for Heals
Druid for ports/sow/snare
Chanter for KEI
Then two mages for DPS

I am really out of touch with the game and races. Can anyone suggest races and or a better group makeup. Would it be better to just do DK and 5 of the same class?

I MBd wow for many years and did a DK and 4 Shamans and loved it.

Great tanks - i hear beast lords are good to have for some dps

Yeah SK I was thinking DK from WOW.

That is a good choice for the grp makeups, but with Mercs you really dont need 6 accounts.. just pay for 3 and use 3 Mercs~

Progression servers won't get Mercs for a long long long long time.

Didn't know about RAF. Hmmm.

Also, I thought trade skills were unlocked along with server progression? Besides, I didn't have any plat to buy things with and there is no auction house, right? Although I played so long ago, maybe that stuff has been unlocked.

What I ended up doing is

Pally tank for extra rezzer, lull pulls, stuns etc
Enchanter for crack, slows, and mezzes
Cleric heals and buffs
Monk bar none best puller and extra DPS very handy for corpse recovery as well
2 Duids I like the druids because of what they bring to the table they can sow, port, nuke, heal, buff, and rez

Having three healers when SHTF is good to go. The pally can heal too but I like him to stay on target.

I remember back in the day, buff stacking was key.

So my group at the time was SHD, SHM (slows, Malo, and Talisman buffs), Cleric (heals, HP buff), ENC (Tash line, attack speed buff), DRU (heals, ports, Blessings). I added a ROG for DPS but a better call now would be MAG probably.

Not sure how buff stacking works nowadays...
