My team dinged 35 and I decided to try ZF out, but I can't see how it's efficient if your a warlock (or any non-aoe class).
Could someone that have done this give tips?

My Warlock has 1150 shadow damage with his Darkmoon trinket cranked up. The best spec that I've found for farming Cath and ZF is a modified SL/SL spec--Make a macro that reads like this:
/castsequence Siphon Life, Curse of Agony
/petattack [target=Greater Healing Ward V]
/petattack [target=Magma Totem]
I'm not 100% positive if that's the exact wording but you get the idea. I use my Succy. Basically, you double dot everything with Siphon Life and Curse of Agony and every time you hit the button your pet will nuke any totems that are out. Those healing wards are the one thing that'll force you to triple dot, so that's why you have that in there.
For me, with that much shadow damage I was making 45 minutes a level from 35 to 45. The area with the zombie graves is crazy xp :)

Not if you have enough shadow damage. You can two dot mobs in Cath that you can't SoC, and you can two dot all the mobs in ZF. After level 37 or 38 ZF is much faster--I've boosted maybe 7 or 8 sets of toons into the 50's.Quote:

Ive got macros for my nub toons to /target the totems and take them out.
The most recent batch of new toons were healers, so it was a breeze.
BRD I had lots of trouble with on the other hand

I god 1100+dmg and the mobs don't die on CoA+SL, some do, but most of them don't.
I'm going to try the VW Soc spam tactic, update coming soon.
Edit: Wow, WW tanked alot better then expected, i was prepared for him to die all the time. Can't tell how the exp is atm tho, but it seems good right now!
Yea the VW is a pimp in the lower level instances.
After hes rounded them all up, hit the AOE taunt deal he does. then start the SOC spamming.
If a mob peels and runs towards you, send the VW after the mob running towards you- that way your mobs stay clumped.
I generally have him run around picking all the melee mobs up, then park him on the group of casters- as they dont chase very well.
I sit at 1160 spell damage and 26% crit, Felguard spec'd because I'm too lazy and cheap to spec into something more grind friendly.
I loved doing it this way in SM, and DM. I could do the Cathedral in 3 pulls with a bit of practice.
My 70 lock only has around 800 +damage and I can do just fine in SM Cath and ZF using VW, use LOS to pull them back to the previous hallway or around walls then have the VW reattack once the casters hav come around the corner and start SoC. They easily go down with 4 SoC on 4 different targets, just keep switching VW to your current target that you are casting SoC on that way the seeds all go off after you have planted them.
Edit: Also, if you have a priest in the group you can bubble VW (before first attack) for more longevity to pick up more mobs at once.
My warlock guildy ran my lowbies through ZF yesterday. She just siphon life'd everything and threw in some SoC's when she could get the cast off. My job was to take out the healing totems from range. It was fun watching her lifetap and her health continue to climb. :)
Id go for this:
1. void walker aggros loads
2. SoC liek a madman
3. Shadowfury or whatever its called (the aoe stunn ting) so they dont all go 4 you until the seeds have blown uppppp :)
does anyone really ae zf? i mean like sm where you pull the whole instance? I pull half of zf with np with my pally, but those damn heal totems screw me up... more or less i just pull em and walk the grp around til they die now keeping them away from thier totems
using a 70 prot pally any better ideas/methods?
I took my 4 level 39 Shammies after mega boosting through SM cath with my prot spec pally, needless to say it was a complete disaster.
I might take a level 63 warlock in there and have a go

tried it.. just too many totems to drop when you pull 40 - 50 mobs guess ill have to stick with 10 or so mobs and work from that just seems like a big letdown after sm pulls/xp
roight! so I messed around in SM cath yesterday with my warlock to see how effective it was using him :)
I have probably the crappiest gear out there atm so this was going to be interesting from the start.. 420 spelldamage around 6.5k mana and 7.5k hp.
I pretty much dinged him 70 and then left him whilst i did other stuff :)
at first I tried the VW thing, sent him round the courtyard collecting all the mobs, seems to work quite well tbh. SOC 3 times and 90% of the mobs die :)
moved up to the fountain same again, altho sometimes i had to cut the pulls short due to low hp on my VW :S
When i got the the room however my VW died cos i was being silly and i forgot to go shard farming before going through SM.
So i whipped out my imp and wanted to see what i could do without a pet.
I started by attacking small clusters of mobs with SoC and then moving on to the boss once i had cleared it all..
this was taking too long tho .. so i decided to try taking on larger groups
needless to say after a few wipes trying to go for too much I got the SM catch (inside the cathedral itself) down to 2 pulls with a 60% success rate.
I have now respected destruction, and should now be able to benefit a lot from shadowfury to aid me with this pull. (range might be a problem tho)
I can see it being very easy with a VW tho :)
For instances where mobs are more spread out I would suggest the 'old dot em up' technique. Affliction all the way here :)

One final point to using SoC on a warlock, for this kind of grinding regardless of instance. take off some of you spelldamage gear.. I know this sounds rly rly silly, but bear with me :)
SoC triggers after a certain amount of damage has been caused to your target. taking off spelldamage gear allows you to cast more SoCs before the first one goes off, which means you should be able to get a bigger BOOM! effect when they go off. I am not 100% sure on this but as I understand it ur spelldamage added to each SoC hit is reduced by a factor depending on the number of mobs/players hit by it, thus reducing your spelldamage should not affect the overall damage you caused (much :))

Not sure how warlocks have changed, haven't played since last July. But I thought ZF was pretty smooth. Also that place outside the hinterlands (troll area) is nice for farming groups of players while you grind.
for M clown and others that use pallies to boost.... screw zf.. go to st and pull the dragon kin over and over Im getting good xp for my lvl 41/42 shammies and mages atm doing this
go in round up 3 to 5 grps ae em down rinse repeat reset zone
